Steph Curry wins NBA’s 2024 Clutch Player Award

Steph Curry has been named as the 2024 Clutch Play of the Year.

Steph Curry has been named as the winner of the 2024 Clutch Player of the Year award. The Golden State Warriors superstar earned the honors after leading the NBA in multiple clutch categories such as points, three-point shots made, and converting 95.1% of his attempts from the free-throw line.

Curry beat out some stern competition to win the award. DeMar DeRozan finished second, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander came in third, and Nikola Jokic was a distant fourth. Curry received 45 first-placed points, 18 second-placed points, and 19 third-placed points, giving him a total of 298, 26 points ahead of DeRozan in the voting process.

Despite his heroics in the clutch, the Warriors were unable to make the 2024 playoffs. Curry will undoubtedly be hoping that his team can improve their fortunes next season so that they can continue challenging for a championship.

Nevertheless, Curry’s latest award proves that he’s still among the most dangerous players in the league with the ball in his hands, especially when the game is on the line.

Is it time for the Warriors to trade Steph Curry?

Should the Golden State Warriors explore the trade market for Steph Curry in the offseason?

The Golden State Warriors season ended abruptly at the hands of the Sacramento Kings. Steve Kerr’s team struggled for consistency throughout their 82-game schedule; multiple players failed to reach their usual performance level and some dealt with a string of injury issues.

Another issue facing the Warriors: Their championship core is aging, and they have a new core waiting to step up and continue developing.

It’s a tough tightrope for the Warriors’ coaching staff to walk. As such, Scott Ostler of the San Francisco Chronicle raised the question whether now is the right time to trade Stephen Curry.

“If another team will offer the Warriors a bounty of draft picks and prospects in exchange for Curry, thus jump-starting a necessary team overhaul, the Warriors should at least consider the offer, and present it to Curry,” Ostler wrote.
Ostler’s thought process is clearly coming from a rebuilding angle. After all, if Golden State wanted to begin building around its younger stars, such as Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski, moving Curry would provide the franchise the assets needed to do that. However, Ostler conceded that should Curry wish to retire in the Bay Area, it’s unlikely the Warriors would look to trade him.
“Please understand, if Curry tells the Warriors he wants to play out his career here, end of story. No way he would be subjected to the treatment given Joe Montana and Willie Mays, traded near the end of their careers. I’m convinced that if Curry wants to retire with the Warriors, Lacob will make that happen.”
The Warriors have some tough decisions to make in the upcoming offseason. However, it’s highly doubtful that Curry’s future with the franchise will be one of them. After all, he’s still one of the best guards in the NBA. His shooting skill is still among the best in the world. Moving on from Curry may look good on paper, but in reality, it’s a non-starter that will likely never come to fruition. Nor should it.

Draymond Green reveals Steph Curry’s motivational 3 words after Kings loss

Draymond Green revealed Steph Curry’s words shortly after the Golden State Warriors were eliminated from the 2024 NBA playoffs.

The Golden State Warriors’ season is over. The Sacramento Kings eliminated them from the play-in tournament on Tuesday (April 16). Sacramento went on to be eliminated by the New Orleans Pelicans. However, that doesn’t change the fact the Warriors will be watching the postseason from home, rather than contending for a championship.

During a recent episode of “The Draymond Green Show,” Golden State’s veteran forward revealed that Steph Curry was defiant in the locker room following their elimination. Green recalled the three words the veteran sharpshooter told him as they began to prepare for a difficult summer.

“Right after the game, in the Kings’ locker room, I said, ‘I love you bro.’ He was like ‘I love you too, bro. We ain’t done,'” Green revealed. “You right. Got it. Noted. Cool, we in. You right.’ So to think that we’ve done these things, I love it — And we’re not done.”

There will be a significant amount of speculation surrounding the Warriors during the offseason. Questions linger over the veteran core, most notably the future of Klay Thompson.

Nevertheless, Curry and Co. will likely be eager to get back to work, so that they can put this difficult season behind them and begin building toward a potential championship run in 2025. As the veteran superstar said, the Warriors ‘ain’t’ done.

Other notable players to wear No. 4 for Team USA include Jimmy Butler, Allen Iverson and Charles Barkley. San Antonio Spurs wing Keldon Johnson was the latest member of Team USA to wear No. 4.

Watch: Chris Mullin presents Steph Curry with Team USA jersey for Olympics

The NBA Hall of Famer presented Steph Curry with his Team USA jersey for the Olympics.

Although the Golden State Warriors season is over, Stephen Curry will not have much time away from the court this summer. The Golden State Warriors All-Star point guard is a part of Team USA’s roster for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

To celebrate his addition to Team USA for his first-ever appearance in the Olympics, Curry was presented his jersey by a Hall of Famer and former member of Team USA’s “Dream Team.”

Warrior legend Chris Mullin, who works as a pregame and postgame analyst in the Bay Area, met with Curry in San Francisco to show the two-time MVP his new Team USA jersey. Instead of No. 30, Curry will wear  No. 4 with Team USA this summer. In past FIBA competitions, Curry wore No. 4 with Team USA.

Along with having his No. 17 retired by the Golden State Warriors, Mullin is a two-time Olympic gold medalist. Mullin was a member of Team USA’s 1992 Olympic team in Barcelona, which was coined “The Dream Team.”

The 2024 Games in Paris will serve as Curry’s debut in the Olympics. Curry has played in a pair of FIBA World Cups with Team USA, but never the Summer Games.

The Olympics are set to begin on July 26 in Paris, France.

Steve Kerr still believes in Warriors veteran core

Steve Kerr believes Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are still good enough to lead the Warriors to another championship.

The Golden State Warriors will watch the 2024 NBA playoffs from home.

The Sacramento Kings eliminated the four-time champions from the play-in tournament on Tuesday. The deflating ending put an exclamation mark on a difficult season in which the Warriors dealt with inconsistency, injuries and suspensions.

Nevertheless, head coach Steve Kerr still believes his veteran core can win another championship. Speaking to the media following his team’s loss, he shared his faith in Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. He noted all three of the veterans are still highly talented individuals.

“I believe they can,” Kerr said when asked if the core could make another championship run. “These guys are all still really good players. Hopefully, we can re-sign Klay. Draymond and Steph are all under contract. So, we’re gonna roll it back next year.”

Golden State’s front office will have its hands full this summer. In recent years, it has been straddling two timelines. The Warriors’ younger contingent of players has impressed. Figuring out how to appeal to different age groups is clearly proving to be a tough task for Kerr and his coaching staff.

If the Warriors decide to run it back next season, they will need to improve the supporting cast. With months until the start of free agency, Golden State’s front office will have plenty of time to plan how it wants to move forward.

Steph Curry never sees himself not playing with Green and Thompson

Steph Curry can’t envision not sharing the court with Klay Thompson and Draymond Green for the Golden State Warriors.

The 2024 NBA playoffs will not feature Steph Curry. The veteran superstar and his Golden State Warriors teammates were eliminated from the play-in tournament by the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday.

The defeat ended an inconsistent season that raised multiple questions regarding the direction of the franchise.

Klay Thompson will head into unrestricted free agency, and Steve Kerr is expecting some changes. However, when speaking to the media after the game, Curry noted he can’t envision not playing alongside Thompson and Draymond Green. Nevertheless, Curry’s primary focus is on winning.

“I can never see myself not with those two guys,” Curry said. “I understand this league changes and there’s so many things that go into it. We’re not going to play forever. We’ve experienced so much together. At the end of the day, I know they wanna win, I know I wanna win. … This is unfamiliar territory, I just wanna win. Whatever that means, I wanna win.”

Despite his season coming to a close, Curry can hold his head high. The 36-year-old averaged 26.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists on 45% shooting from the field and 40.8% shooting from 3-point range. Even at this late stage of his career, he’s still the best shooter in the NBA.

The Warriors front office will have tough decisions to make during the summer. Thompson’s future will be at the top of the list. Nevertheless, with Curry and the Warriors core aging, time is running out to put them in a position to challenge for their fifth championship.

Report: Steph Curry on roster for Team USA’s 2024 Olympic team

Steph Curry is reportedly set to join Team USA for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Once the Golden State Warriors season comes to an end, Stephen Curry will reportedly make his long-awaited debut in a different uniform over the summer.

According to Shams Charania and Joe Vardon of The Athletic, Steph Curry is one of the 12 players listed on the roster as Team USA finalizes the team for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Via @ShamsCharania on X (formerly Twitter):

Paris will be the first time Curry has donned a Team USA uniform in the Olympics. Curry has represented Team USA in multiple international competitions, including the FIBA World Cup in 2010 and 2014, but never the Olympics.

While no other players from the Warriors are listed on the roster, Steve Kerr will coach Team USA in his first and last Olympic Games. Kerr plans to step down as head coach of Team USA after the Paris Games.

LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Jayson Tatum, Bam Adebayo, Anthony Davis, Anthony Edwards, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Haliburton and Jrue Holiday are reportedly also on the Team USA roster.

With multiple championships, historic records, All-Star games, All-NBA teams and two Most Valuable Player awards under his belt, Olympic gold medalist is one of the few remaining lines of Curry’s basketball resume left empty.

The Summer Olympics will begin in July 26 in Paris.

Steph Curry shares appreciation for Andrew Wiggins

Steph Curry appreciates the difficult role Andrew Wiggins plays for the Golden State Warriors

Andrew Wiggins has endured a difficult season for the Golden State Warriors. He’s struggled to reach his usual production level and has bounced in and out of the rotation as a result. Yet, as the season neared its conclusion, Wiggins began to emerge as the wing defender the Warriors needed.

When speaking to the media on Monday (April 15), Steph Curry praised Wiggins and what he brings to the table for Golden State. He noted how the explosive wing has a difficult role, as he is usually tasked with guarding the opposing team’s best player.

“What he has to do is not easy,” Curry said. “I think that’s something people miss, he has to guard the best perimeter guy and we want him to be aggressive offensively as well…he understands how important it is to reach our full potential as a team & you’ve seen that over the last month or so.”

The Warriors face a difficult road to the playoffs. They’re the 10th seed in the Western Conference. That means a win-or-go-home game against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday (April 16), with the winner facing the loser of the Los Angeles Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans. Should the Warriors successfully navigate both of those games, a seven-game series against the Oklahoma City Thunder will await them.

If Wiggins can emerge as the same three-and-d wing that helped the Warriors secure the 2022 NBA championship, he will give Golden State an excellent chance of embarking on an unlikely run toward the playoffs. He’s shown he’s capable of being one of the best defenders in the NBA; now the Warriors need him to remind everybody watching at home.
