After earning a trio of championships and a bevy of All-Star appearances, praise is common for a player like Klay Thompson. Yet, when it comes from a legendary hooper simply known as “The Logo,” words hold a bit more weight.
In a recent interview on 95.7 The Game with Damon Bruce, Matt Kolsky and Ray Ratto, Jerry West shared his appreciation for the Golden State Warriors’ backcourt. When discussing the rumored Kevin Love for Thompson trade from his days in Golden State’s front office, West called the Washington State product “one of the most underrated players in the league.”

But to me, the perfect player — and he wasn’t as far along in his career when this trade had been talked about —the perfect player for Steph [Currry] was Klay [Thompson]. He never seeks the spotlight. He just plays the game. And he has gotten better and better, and frankly, he’s one of the most underrated players in the league who gets not as much love as he should get.
After seeing West’s comments, the sharpshooting wing weighed in on Instagram. Thompson posted a message saying West knows he’s “about that life.”

With West currently serving as an executive board member of the Los Angeles Clippers, Thompson will have to wait to connect with the NBA Hall of Famer. After a 15-50 season, the Golden State Warriors are one of eight teams to be on the outside of the NBA’s Orlando Bubble restart.
As their season is officially over, Thompson will have an extended offseason to work his way back to the court. The three-time champion hasn’t played since injuring his knee against the Toronto Raptors in the 2019 NBA Finals. Luckily for the Warriors, most of the news surrounding Thompson’s injury has been positive.
After watching him work out in Southern California, Steve Kerr said Thompson was “draining shots everywhere.” With Thompson’s anticipated return to action on delay, the Splash Brother will have more time to continue “workin.”
