Former Badger Aleem Ford signs to a G-League roster

Former Badger Aleem began his professional basketball career in Puerto Rico earlier this year after he and several of his teammates saw their college careers end with Wisconsin’s loss to Baylor in the NCAA tournament.

He played in 32 total games for the Leones De Ponce after being selected No. 1 overall in the league’s draft, averaging 7.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.4 steals and 0.2 blocks.

It did not take long for the Wisconsin product to be off to his next professional basketball venture, as it was announced earlier today he was signing with the G-League’s Lakeland Magic—an Orlando Magic affiliate.

Ford will team up with former Michigan Wolverines Jon Teske and Ignas Brazdeikis, former Tennessee Volunteer Admiral Schofield and more recently-graduated college stars.

Former Badger, Super Bowl hero Corey Clement finds a new NFL home

Former Badger, Super Bowl hero Corey Clement finds a new NFL home

Corey Clement has now been employed by nearly every single team in the NFC East.

After starting with the Philadelphia Eagles, starring in their Super Bowl 52 victory and spending time on the New York Giants, Clement has now signed to the Dallas Cowboys active roster.

The signing is big news for the former Badger, as he jumps right from being cut by the Giants to making the Cowboys roster—avoiding having to start the season on their practice squad.

Seahawks sign TE Dominick Wood-Anderson, waive RB B.J. Emmons

The Seattle Seahawks announced a couple of roster moves on Wednesday, signing TE Dominick Wood-Anderson and waiving RB B.J. Emmons.

The Seattle Seahawks announced a couple of roster moves on Wednesday, signing tight end Dominick Wood-Anderson and waiving running back B.J. Emmons to make room on the 90-man roster.

Wood-Anderson first entered the league last year as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee. He now joins the Seahawks for the second time in his career, signing on with the team last season following the draft before he was waived during Seattle’s cuts to an 80-man squad.

He now adds some depth in the tight end room heading into training camp at the end of July.

Emmons had been signed as an undrafted free agent in May.

Former Wisconsin tight end signs with the New England Patriots

New England Patriots signed former Wisconsin tight end Troy Fumagalli Thursday, according to a report from Jim McBride of the Boston Globe.

The New England Patriots signed former Wisconsin tight end Troy Fumagalli Thursday morning, according to a report from Jim McBride of the Boston Globe.

The Patriots are Fumagalli’s second NFL team. He was a fifth-round pick in 2018 by the Denver Broncos and played 19 games for the team.

The former Badger joins a tight end rotation in New England highlighted by Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry, a rotation that will be tough to crack for an inexperienced tight end such as Fumagalli.

Bill Belichick is the best in the business at finding talent from other NFL teams, though, so this signing may be what the former Badger needs to jumpstart his NFL career.

Former Wisconsin Badger running back and Super Bowl hero Corey Clement signed with the New York Giants yesterday, that after working out for the team on Friday.

The four-year veteran found success during his rookie year in Philadelphia in 2017, most notably tallying 100 receiving yards during the Eagles’ Super Bowl 52 victory over the New England Patriots.

But since then it’s been a tough go for the New Jersey native, as he’s played in a total of 30 games since 2017 and has carried the football only 89 times for 334 yards.

The former Wisconsin star will now drive two hours north to the division rival Giants as looks to continue his NFL career.

Former Wisconsin wide receiver signs a one-year deal with the Houston Texans

Former Wisconsin wide receiver Alex Erickson signed a one-year deal with the Houston Texans last month, locking in his sixth NFL season.

Former Wisconsin wide receiver Alex Erickson signed a one-year deal with the Houston Texans last month, the deal locking in his sixth NFL season.

The former Badger was featured mainly on special teams during his five years with the Cincinnati Bengals, his best year being a 39-catch, 278-yard campaign in 2017.

Erickson now joins a Texans receiving core led by veterans Brandin Cooks and Randall Cobb—obviously a group that looks nothing like their DeAndre Hopkins, Will Fuller tandem from just a few years ago.

Former Wisconsin linebacker re-signs with the Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins announced yesterday that they re-signed former Wisconsin linebacker Vince Biegel to a one-year contract

The Super Bowl is in the rear-view mirror, college pro days are underway, the draft is right around the corner and the NFL free agency process is running at full steam.

For some former Wisconsin Badgers in the NFL, this period usually sees them move around and seek new opportunities with different teams.

That is not the case for one former Badger, as the Miami Dolphins announced yesterday they re-signed former Wisconsin linebacker Vince Biegel to a one-year contract.

Biegel made his way to Dolphins before the 2019 season, a year that saw him start 10 games and record 59 tackles, 7 tackles-for-loss, 2.5 sacks, 13 quarterback hits and 1 interception.

Those 13 quarterback hits were the team’s best in 2019, though the former Badger tore his Achilles during camp in August and missed the 2020 season.

Biegel figures to have a role in the Dolphins’ defense next season. The nature of a one-year deal, however, does point toward a “prove it” kind of season for the five-year vet.

The cornerback was then signed by the Las Vegas Raiders after the 2018 NFL draft before bouncing around to and from their practice squad.

His Raider career ended with 12 games played, 3 starts, 20 tackles, 1 pass defended and one fumble recovery.

Nelson now gets a shot to enter camp with the Colts and look to make an NFL active roster for the first time since December of 2019.
