Injury update on UGA football running back Roderick Robinson

UGA football coach Kirby Smart updates the status of freshman running back Roderick Robinson.

Georgia Bulldogs true freshman Roderick Robinson is looking unlikely to play against Vanderbilt in Week 7. Robinson is making progress as he returns from an ankle injury, but he is still not practicing.

Georgia is battling a few injuries in the backfield. Georgia has a deep running backs room, but several Bulldog running backs have already missed significant action this season.

Senior running back Kendall Milton received carries for the first time since the South Carolina game against Kentucky. Milton totaled eight carries for 47 yards and scored one touchdown in Georgia’s 51-13 win over the Wildcats.

Georgia is already missing sophomore running back Branson Robinson for the season in 2023. Robinson suffered a knee injury in preseason practice.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart notes that Roderick Robinson is doubtful for the Vanderbilt game, but is nearing a return.

He is getting closer. Dry land running, weight bearing, running, but doubtful for this game. He is closer. He’s out there running around, but he’s not practicing with us.

Robinson has 15 carries for 89 rushing yards and two touchdowns this season. The freshman’s progress is a good sign that he will be healthy and good to go for the Florida game on Oct. 28 after Georgia’s bye week.

Kirby Smart gives injury updates ahead of UAB matchup

Updates on Javon Bullard, Kendall Milton, Roderick Robinson & more…

The No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs’ injury list is a long one. Several players missed last week’s win against South Carolina and others exited the game due to new injuries.

On Tuesday, head coach Kirby Smart provided an update on some of those Bulldogs who are battling to get back on the field this Saturday against UAB.

Running backs Kendall Milton (MCL) and Roderick Robinson (ankle) haven’t been practicing this week, according to Smart.

“Kendall’s been in rehab. He’s been rehabbing and working, and Roderick hasn’t been able to practice with us so they haven’t looked good in terms of practice ’cause they haven’t been out there. I’m hoping that we can get them back. It looks very doubtful that Roderick’s going to be able to play this week. I’m still holding out hope that Kendall might be able to, but I can’t say that ’cause he has not practiced.”

Starting safety Javon Bullard missed the South Carolina matchup after suffering an ankle sprain in Georgia’s win over Ball State in Week 2.

“Yeah, he hasn’t done much (in practice). He warmed up, didn’t feel great in warmups, we shut him down and he hasn’t done much this week in terms of being able to practice. I asked him today, and he’s underwater running, got a boot on, but he has not been able to practice.”

Junior offensive tackle Austin Blaske has yet to take a snap this season due to a MCL injury.

“Blaske has practiced. Man he is a tough dude. But he’s hurting. He’s trying his best out there. O line is a position you might be able to get away with an MCL because you’re not out there in space running and cutting but he’s not 100 percent healthy.”

The Bulldogs may be able to sit players that are still not fully healthy this week versus UAB, but the schedule doesn’t get any easier. Georgia will travel to Auburn (3-0) next week.

He ranks as the nation’s No. 231 overall player and No. 15 running back in the class of 2023. He also doubles as a track star and ran a 52.88 400 as a junior.

Out of San Diego, Robinson stands 6 feet, 1 inch and weighs 230 pounds.

During his junior season, he ran for 1,273 yards and 17 rushing touchdowns.

Georgia football flips UCLA commit, 4-star RB

UGA flips four-star running back Roderick Robinson, who was previously committed to the UCLA Bruins.

The Georgia Bulldogs have landed a commitment from four-star running back Roderick Robinson, who was previously committed to the UCLA Bruins.

The Bulldogs offered Robinson a scholarship on May 17, 2022. The Dawgs entered into the mix for Robinson late, but Kirby Smart and company did not give up.

Robinson visited the University of Georgia for the Auburn game. He had to be impressed with the environment in Athens compared to UCLA’s sparsely full stadium. Robinson’s visit helped give him the confidence to commit to the Bulldogs.

The four-star running back’s decision is tough news for UCLA, who now has just six commitments in the class of 2023. Roderick Robinson was UCLA’s highest-ranked commit.

The Bruins are off to an excellent start to the 2022 college football season. However, that has not resulted in success on the recruiting trail. UCLA and head coach Chip Kelly has the No. 80 recruiting class in the country.

Robinson is considered the No. 15 running back in the country and No. 18 recruit in California per 247Sports. The four-star is the No. 270 recruit in the country.

Robinson plays high school football for Lincoln High School in San Diego, California.

The 6-foot-1, 230-pound running back was also considering the Texas A&M Aggies. He announced his decision to flip his commitment via Twitter:

Robinson mentions that he is shutting down his recruitment. The Lincoln standout is Georgia’s first commitment from a running back in the class of 2023. Georgia has 21 total commitments in the class of 2023 and the No. 2 recruiting class in the country.

UCLA commit Roderick Robinson rushes for 186 yards, 4 TDS on just 8 carries

UCLA football commit Roderick Robinson II posted an early-season stat line that needs a double-take.

One of the best parts of high school football season returning is scrolling through the news or Twitter feed and seeing some of the remarkable stat lines rolling in. After an eight-month layoff, fans of colleges can be reminded of the talent of these athletes committed to their universities.

UCLA commit Roderick Robinson II has one of the early double-take stat lines of the season. While many schools across the country don’t start classes until after Labor Day, this California school district is one of many that already has football season underway.

Robinson stole headlines in the opener of Lincoln (San Diego, Calif.) by rushing for 186 yards and four touchdowns on just eight carries. All of this took place in the first half, as the Hornets rolled out to a 42-0 halftime lead before beating Capital Christian (Sacramento, Calif.) 56-0.

It was a good victory for Lincoln, who is trying to avenge its loss in the championship game last season.

They have one more season of Robinson to do so. The four-star running back is ranked the No. 18 RB in the class of 2023 and the 22nd-best player in California, according to the 247Sports Composite. He has 25 offers, but committed to UCLA in May and, assuming nothing changes, will stay in-state to play for the Bruins next season.

Where Oregon Ducks go at RB after two prominent targets commit to UCLA, Notre Dame

Both Roderick Robinson and Jayden Limar passed on the Ducks Thursday. Where will Oregon focus now when it comes to recruiting RBs?

Thursday was expected to be an important day for the Oregon Ducks when it came to recruiting the running back position.

Four-star backs Roderick Robinson II and Jaydin Limar planned to announce their commitments. Both were targets for Oregon, and both had the Ducks among their final options.

Both chose to play college ball elsewhere.

Robinson announced on Thursday morning he planned to commit to the UCLA Bruins. Limar committed to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Thursday afternoon. Neither was predicted to land with the Ducks, so the outcome wasn’t a major surprise. However, with the way Oregon has recruited at the RB position over the past few months, it would not have been a shock to see either player choose to put on the green and yellow, either.

Both players are off the board now, though, which leaves the Ducks to reset and get back out on the recruiting trail. Fortunately they already have four-star Dante Dowdell committed to the 2023 class, stealing him late in the game from Ole Miss and Tennessee, but it wouldn’t at all be surprising to see them add more.

Which running backs might they be after in the 2023 class, though? Here are a few to keep an eye on:

Four-star RB Roderick Robinson stays in state, commits to UCLA

UCLA got the commitment of four-star running back Roderick Robinson on Thursday.

It didn’t take Roderick Robinson long to figure out that his first official visit was the school he wanted to return to.

On Thursday, the four-star running back out of Lincoln High School (San Diego, Calif.) elected to stay in-state and commit to UCLA. He visited the Bruins on the weekend of May 13, according to CBS Sports.

247Sports reported that Robinson was offered by UCLA in February and had an unofficial visit to the campus in April. He had 25 offers, according to the recruiting outlet, including from 10 Pac-12 schools.

Recruitment rankings differ on Robinson, but 247Sports lists him as the 16th-best running back in the class of 2023. The outlet’s composite lists him as a three-star player. As a junior, he rushed for 1,273 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Robinson told 247Sports that UCLA head coach Chip Kelly compared him to current Bruins running back Zach Charbonnet, who also played high school ball in California.

“He said he had a lot of success everywhere he has been with big backs and UCLA is one of those schools that definitely runs the ball really well. It’s an offense that features a power run game and I know I can fit in really well with what they want to do,” Robinson said.

UCLA now has three commits in the class of 2023. All three are in-state commits, as three-star safety Ty Lee attends St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) and three-star wide receiver Grant Gray hails from Norco (Calif.)

Auburn running back target chooses UCLA

Auburn currently has the 56th-ranked recruiting class for 2023.

One of Auburn’s recruiting targets won’t be coming to the Plains.

Roderick Robinson, a four-star running back out of California, has committed to UCLA on Thursday. His only official visit was to the Bruins on May 13, and 247Sports’ Crystal Ball correctly predicted Robinson’s choice to head to Los Angeles.

Robinson’s decision, should it stick, is another recruiting blow to Auburn’s 2023 class. The Tigers currently have the 56th overall recruiting class in the nation for 2023 with just two recruits hard committing. It’s very possible that the uncertain future around [autotag]Bryan Harsin[/autotag] is a contributor to this, but if he means to stay Auburn’s head coach, he’ll have to do better for the 2023 recruiting class to secure his own future.

The Tigers offered Robinson at the end of March. Although he included Auburn in his final eight schools, Robinson never actually visited the Plains at any point during his recruitment process — the only two visits he has taken included an unofficial visit to Tennessee on May 6 and the official visit to UCLA. It seems as if Robinson had a good idea of where he wanted to go far before he committed to UCLA on Thursday.

Auburn’s attention will now shift to the nine other running backs it has offered for 2023 that have yet to announce their recruitment.

UGA football among top schools for 4-star RB

Four-star running back Roderick Robinson set his commitment date and named his top eight schools.

The Georgia Bulldogs are among the contenders to land four-star running back Roderick Robinson, who recently set his commitment date and named his top eight schools.

The Bulldogs offered Robinson a scholarship on May 17, so Georgia may be entering into the mix too late. Robinson is considered the No. 16 running back in the country and No. 20 recruit in California per 247Sports.

The four-star running back plans to make his decision on where he will play college football on May 26 at 1 p.m. EDT. Robinson ranks Arizona, Auburn, California, Georgia, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M and UCLA in his top eight.

Robinson plays high school football for Lincoln High School in San Diego, California. Where will he play college football?

The 6-foot-1, 230-pound running back is favored to sign with UCLA, but he could go in several directions. This is an interesting recruiting battle between Pac-12 and SEC schools. Can the SEC lure another top California talent away from the state?

Georgia and Texas A&M should be considered long shots to land a commitment from Robinson. The four-star running back recently visited Auburn, Tennessee, USC, Arizona and Stanford.

2023 Prospects: Roderick Robinson’s Recruiting Profile

Here is a recruiting profile on Roderick Robinson, who recently included Auburn in his top six schools.

Prior to national signing day, each profile will cover where the player is from, how recruiting websites rate them, as well as what their role could be for Bryan Harsin.

Next up in our series is three-star running back Roderick Robinson II out of San Diego, California. Robinson recently included Auburn in his top six schools, and he could be a name to watch in the Plains as he gets ready to make his decision.

At 6’1, 230 pounds, Robinson is a huge body that can break tackles and drive through the gaps his offensive line creates. He might be lacking in top-line speed, but he could be a force to be reckoned with in the backfield with his size and instinct.
