Oklahoma-Oklahoma State betting line makes big move after it opens for Bedlam, per BetMGM

There is major line movement in the sports betting world, but not typically this much in a big game. Bedlam’s line has moved a ton.

There is major line movement in the sports betting world, but not typically this much in a big game.

Oklahoma has won four-straight games and is taking steps to its best football of the year. Oklahoma State dropped its first game of the year against Texas and then scraped out a win over Kansas State last Saturday.

The Sooners and Cowboys have a lop-sided rivalry, with Oklahoma leading the all-time series 89-18-7. That typically hasn’t stopped the wackiness of Bedlam before.

And I guess it won’t this year.

The opening line for the game opened up as Oklahoma as 9.5-point favorites. In less than 24 hours, that line is down to 6.5-points for Oklahoma. Even as low as 5.5-points for the Sooners earlier on Monday, per  BetMGM.

Place your legal sports bets online in CO, IN, NJ, TN, and WV at BetMGM. Bet now!

Oklahoma is 4-1 against the spread in its last five against Oklahoma State and 12-5 in its last 17 games.

There hasn’t been any major news announced as to why the line dropped so much, and that typically opens up the idea that something has happened or there is more confidence on Oklahoma State to keep this game tight.

Oklahoma and Oklahoma State kickoff on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. CT.

What Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy said about Oklahoma, Spencer Rattler

What Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy had to say about Oklahoma in his weekly press conference on Monday ahead of Bedlam on Saturday.

Bedlam week has arrived as this weekend will feature one of the top rivalries in the Big 12 when No. 14 Oklahoma State (5-1, 4-1) visits No. 17/18 Oklahoma (5-2, 4-2).

This game is obviously huge in regards to the Big 12 title picture down the stretch of the season. It’s importance was even large enough to warrant ESPN’s College Gameday making the trip to Norman this weekend.

The Sooners are one of the hottest teams in the country right now coming off of four-straight wins including blowout showings against Texas Tech and Kansas each of the last two weeks prior to last Saturday’s bye.

The Cowboys, meanwhile, picked up a hugely important bounce back victory over Kansas State in their last action after they were upset at home by Texas to break up their undefeated season bid.

Today, Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy spoke to the media at his weekly press conference to discuss his team ahead of the big matchup on Saturday. Here is what the Pokes head man had to say about Oklahoma.

Oklahoma-Oklahoma State going to be a night kickoff for first time in Norman for Bedlam

Oklahoma and Oklahoma State go back to the first decade of the 1900s. What will happen on Saturday will be the first game of its kind.

Oklahoma and Oklahoma State go back to the first decade of the 1900s. The two state schools have played 114 times and have yet to do what is going to happen on Saturday night.

The Sooners first hosted a night game against Colorado in 1988. Since, Oklahoma has played host to many big, primetime matchups like Texas Tech in 2008, Notre Dame in 2012 and TCU in 2017. None of those have included Oklahoma State.

Until 2020, of course.

It was announced last week that Bedlam will kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT. This will be the first Oklahoma-Oklahoma State game to kick off in primetime in Norman, Oklahoma, ever.

The 2012 and 2014 games at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium ended late due to overtimes, but those kicked off during the afternoon. The 2018 game did, too. Oklahoma State has hosted night Bedlam games in 2010, 2011, 2015 and 2019 in recent past.

The winner of Bedlam will be in a clear path to making the 2020 Big 12 Championship game. The game will be broadcasted on ABC.

ESPN College GameDay coming to Oklahoma for Bedlam

For the first time since 2012, ESPN’s College Gameday will be heading to Norman next weekend.

After some speculation throughout the week, it has been announced and made official: ESPN’s College Gamedayis heading to Norman for Bedlam next weekend.

The game will feature a top-20 matchup of in-state rivals Oklahoma and Oklahoma State with a great deal on the line in terms of competing for a Big 12 championship.

This will be the first time the famous pregame show has come to Norman since Notre Dame played the Sooners at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in 2012. The Fighting Irish won that game 30-13.

Although, they have been to several Oklahoma games since then when they were the visiting team – most recently being last year’s Red River Showdown where the Sooners defeated Texas 34-27.

This will be the seventh time College Gameday has come to the annual Bedlam game, with Oklahoma having won all of the previous six.

No fans will be allowed as the back drop like normal due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but hosting the nationally beloved program is still an honor that will be sure to excite many Sooners fans.

The game itself is set for 6:30 p.m. CT Saturday night and will be broadcast on ABC.

Oklahoma State survives another Big 12 blunder in 16-7 win against Tulsa

The Big 12 didn’t need Saturday to become another mess for the conference, but Oklahoma State provided that opportunity.

The Big 12 didn’t need Saturday to become another mess for the conference, but Oklahoma State provided that opportunity.

Iowa State was handed a 31-14 loss by Louisiana in Week 1, Kansas State lost 35-31 to Arkansas State and Kansas’ lost for the second-straight year to Coastal Carolina. The Big 12 is one of two power-five conferences playing non-conference opponents, but the only one having a tough time.

Oklahoma State trailed Tulsa 7-3 on Saturday for much of the game before pulling away to win 16-7. It was yet another tough performance for a conference vying for national relevancy.

Oklahoma already had a relatively easy to path to winning its sixth-straight Big 12 Championship. Both of its next opponents lost in Week 1 and its in-state rivalry game looks to be up in the air for Oklahoma State if Spencer Sanders is hurt for a long period of time.

Texas took care of business against UTEP 59-3 and looks like it will be the Sooners stiffest competition again behind Sam Ehlinger.

Oklahoma will begin Big 12 play next Saturday against Kansas State at home at 11 a.m. CT.

How college football stadiums will look in 2020

How will Georgia’s Stanford Stadium and Oklahoma State’s Boone Pickens Stadium look in 2020.

[jwplayer JK7BPwpB]

The 2020 college football season is officially underway. It kicked off with Central Arkansas defeating Austin Peay 24-17. Much of the season is still up in the air, but for now the SEC, Big 12, and ACC are moving forward with their plans.

Some college football stadiums, including the Georgia Bulldogs are planning to allow access to a limited amount of fans. Teams are allowing around 20-30% of regular attendance in order to have better social distancing. Additionally, masks are required at most of these venues. Some stadiums are going without fans entirely.

Here’s how the reduced capacity will look at Oklahoma State’s stadium (Boone Pickens Stadium) in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Boone Pickens Stadium is normally home to 55,509 fans. During these times it will look a little bit different.

Georgia Bulldogs fans should expect the University of Georgia to do a similar set up at Sanford Stadium. Some fans may finally get to have a seatback! Georgia is set to host four home games this season including marquee games against Auburn and Tennessee.

How much of an effect will home-field advantage have this year? With reduced noise, it shouldn’t be as substantial, but the opposing teams still will have to travel and enter an unfamiliar environment that may have artificial noise.

Urban Meyer’s top-five running backs for 2020 CFB season

Urban Meyer ranks the top-five running backs for the 2020 college football season.

Legendary college football coach Urban Meyer recently named his top-five running backs for the 2020 college football season while speaking with the Big Noon Kickoff crew.

With Jonathan Taylor, D’Andre Swift, J.K. Dobbins and Clyde Edwards-Helaire off to the NFL, it opens the door for the next wave of great running backs to make a name for themselves.

And with those guys gone, here are Meyer’s top-five running backs for the 2020 season, a list which includes Georgia’s Zamir White.

  1. Oklahoma State’s Chubb Hubbard (2019: 2,094 yards, 21 TDs)
  2. Clemson’s Travis Etienne (2019: 1,614 yards, 19 TDs — 432 receiving yards, 4 TDs)
  3. Alabama’s Najee Harris (2019: 1,224 yards, 13 TDs — 304 receiving yards, 7 TDs)
  4. Georgia’s Zamir White (2019: 408 rushing yards, 3 TDs on 78 carries)
  5. Ohio State’s Trey Sermon (385 yards, 4 TDs on 54 carries)

Redshirt sophomore Zamir White is ready to take college football by storm in 2020. The former No. 1 ranked running back out of Laurinburg, North Carolina in the class of 2018, White’s been dealt a tough hand. He tore his ACL twice within the calendar year, but was able to perform well last season on limited opportunities. He turned 78 carries into 408 yards with an average of 5.2 yards per carry.

5. College Football News Preview 2020: Oklahoma State Cowboys Offense 3 Things To Know

The Oklahoma State offense was terrific, but for the second straight season it suffered a few strange power outages. With so many shootouts in the Big 12, the offense has to keep scoring on a consistent basis, going 2-8 over the last two seasons when scoring 31 points or fewer.

Putting up points in bunches shouldn’t be a problem with this year’s group.

A few starters are done on the line, but nine regular starters are expected back overall including – potentially – some of the most dangerous skill starts in college football. It all starts with …

Chuba Hubbard is back. He would’ve been one of the top running backs off the board had he left early for the NFL, but now he’s back after running for close to 2,100 yards with 21 touchdowns as one of the fastest and most consistent backs in the country. Now it’s time to give him a little more help.

Senior LD Brown added 221 yards and two scores, and JUCO transfer Dezmon Jackson will start to get more work after seeing a little time in a few games. The offensive line will be good enough to give them all room to move.

The tackles are set, and getting West Virginia transfer Josh Sills helps fill in a gap at guard. Overall, though, the front five can’t allow so many tackles for loss and have to do a better job in pass protection.

For now, Spencer Sanders appears to be the main man to run the attack. He had a few down games, threw too many picks, and was banged up late in the year, but he runs well and should be past the freshman inconsistencies – at least, that’s the hope.

He’s not a 100% lock for the gig, though, with 6-5, 226-pound freshman Shane Illingworth good enough to take over right away. No matter who’s under center, the receivers will be there to shine.

The receiving corps has the potential to be devastating it the main man is healthy. Tylan Wallace was on his way to a special season before suffering a torn ACL. He caught 53 passes for 903 yard and eight scores before going down, but that allowed Dillon Stoner and junior Braydon Johnson to step up and do more. Four reserve receivers might be transferring out, but 6-5 LSU transfer Dee Anderson is on his way in
