Prediction

Nets 102, Hawks 93

Moneyline (ML)

The NETS (-154) are moderate favorites on the road against the banged-up Hawks (+125). Brooklyn is also looking to pull off the four-game regular-season series sweep. The Nets are 3-0 straight up and against the spread in their previous three meetings wit the Hawks, winning by an average margin of 120 to 105.3.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Nets ML returns a profit of $6.50 if they win.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Take the NETS (-2.5, -115), as they have owned the Hawks (+2.5, -106) all season. Atlanta has a lengthy list of injuries, so Brooklyn should have the advantage yet again. While Brooklyn is just 4-10 ATS in the past 14 on the road, it’s an impressive 7-3 ATS in the past 10 as a favorite. Brooklyn has also dominated this series, going 7-1 ATS in the previous eight overall, and the Nets are 5-1 ATS in the past six trips to the ATL.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 233.5 (-110) is an amazing value, and you should definitely take advantage here. Atlanta just has too many injury issues, and Brooklyn is still trying to find someone to fill the void left by Irving. The Under is 7-3 in the past 10 overall for the Nets, and 5-2 in their past seven on the road. While the Over is 12-2 in Atlanta’s past 14 at home, the Under is 13-4-1 in the past 18 meetings in this series, and 6-2 in the past eight in Atlanta.

Nets at Wizards: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 7:35 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Wizards 119, Nets 113

Moneyline (ML)

The WIZARDS (+100) are short dogs at home, but they’re the play. The Nets (-121) currently sit in the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference playoff chase, but the loss of Irving will hurt tremendously. They put up a good fight last time out, but lost at home to Orlando by a 115-113 score Monday. Meanwhile, Washington put up a great fight, but fell to Milwaukee 137-134 in overtime at home Monday.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Wizards ML returns a profit of $10 (even money) if they win.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Take the WIZARDS (+1.5, -110) as they’re 9-4 ATS in the past 13 games at home. They’re also 6-2 ATS in the past eight as a home dog, and 4-1 ATS in the past five overall as a dog. While the Nets (-1.5, -110) are 6-2 ATS in the past eight overall, and 7-2 ATS in the past nine as a favorite, remember that they’re just 4-9 ATS in the past 13 on the road – and a majority of those were with Irving in the backcourt. They’re worse off now. Plus, the Nets are just 4-14 ATS in their past 18 trips to D.C.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 235.5 (-115), which isn’t a slam-dunk play, but it will come in. The Under has connected in seven of the past 10 meetings in the nation’s capital. The Under is also 4-1 in Brooklyn’s past five as a favorite, while going 5-2 in Washington’s past seven against teams with a losing overall record.

Watch: Kevin Durant and Steph Curry reunite after Warriors vs. Nets

After the Warriors’ loss to the Brooklyn Nets, Stephen Curry embraced Kevin Durant with a hug following the loss.

There were several storylines heading into the Golden State Warriors Wednesday night game against the Brooklyn Nets. The game started with both Glenn Robinson III and Alec Burks being scratched from the lineup with the NBA trade deadline looming.

There was the return of D’Angelo Russell, who spent two seasons in Brooklyn, registering one All-Star nod and a trip to the playoffs during his time with the Nets. Brooklyn fans greeted Russell with a homecoming welcome, thanking him for his time with the team.

Then there was the game, where the Warriors had a chance to stack their first three-game road winning streak of the season. However, the Warriors couldn’t eclipse 88-points in a loss to Brooklyn.

Finally, the most subtle, yet most intriguing headline was former Warrior Kevin Durant reuniting with his Golden State teammates. Stephen Curry and Durant are dealing with long-term injuries, sidelining both for the game.

Yet, after the final buzzer, the duo made time to reunite. Along the sideline, Curry and Durant embraced each other with a long hug.

According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Curry and Durant spent around five minutes chatting after the game ended.

Along with Curry, Durant met with several members of the Warriors after the game, including former teammate Draymond Green.

Durant joined Golden State for three seasons prior to signing with Brooklyn. As a member of the Warriors, Durant won three championships and two NBA Finals Most Valuable Player trophies.

Nets fans show D’Angelo Russell love in his first return to Brooklyn

In his first return to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, fans of the Nets chanted thank you praise for D’Angelo Russell.

It’s been a whirlwind week for D’Angelo Russell. The 23-year-old guard has been dealing with trade rumors leading up to the league’s Thursday trade deadline. On top of that, Russell missed the Warriors matchup in Washington with a quad injury.

With trade rumors flying, Russell has been at the center of the Golden State Warriors chatter. Multiple teams have been linked to trading for Russell, including both the New York Knicks and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

However, before the trade deadline, the Warriors still had games on the schedule, including a homecoming with Russell and the Brooklyn Nets.
The game started off to a different pace against the Nets when the Warriors held out both Glenn Robinson III and Alec Burks with the trade deadline looming.

Although when Russell took to the free-throw line, fans of the Nets let their former All-Star guard know how thankful they were for his time in Brooklyn. Fans chanted, “thank you, D-Lo,” when he went to the line.

Russell spent two seasons in Brooklyn, leading them to an Eastern Conference playoff appearance in his final season. In his career with the Nets, he averaged 19.0 points and 6.3 assists per game. Russell represented Brooklyn in the 2019 All-Star game, the team’s first appearance All-Star since 2014.

Kyrie Irving made Nets history in all-around game against Pistons

Kyrie Irving had his second-highest scoring total of the season in the Nets’ win over the Pistons.

Kyrie Irving is one of the NBA’s most skilled scorers, but when he shows his all-around game that elevates his skill set to another level.

Irving led the Brooklyn Nets to a 121-111 overtime win Saturday against the Detroit Pistons, and he made Nets history with his 45-point performance.

According to Justin Kubatko of Stat Muse, Irving became the first Nets player since the franchise merged with the NBA in 1976 to have multiple games of scoring at least 45 points, grabbing at least five rebounds and dishing five assists. Per Kubatko, only Vince Carter, Kenny Anderson, Devin Harris and Deron Williams have posted the stat line at least once.

The other time Irving accomplished the feat this season was opening night, when the Nets lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Irving had an electric debut with his new team, scoring a season-high 50 points, grabbing eight rebounds and totaling seven assists. Irving’s 45 points against the Pistons is his second-highest point total of the season

A six-time All-Star, Irving has played in six games since returning from a right shoulder impingement. Since his return, Irving has averaged 24.8 points per game, 5.8 assists and 5.0 rebounds.

The Nets will play the second game of a back-to-back Sunday in New York against the Knicks.

Report: Anthony Davis questionable for game against Brooklyn Nets

Lakers star Anthony Davis might not be in the lineup Thursday as the team takes on the Brooklyn Nets.

Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis has played two games since returning from a bruised tailbone, but he might not be in the lineup Thursday for the second game of the team’s back-to-back.

According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Davis is listed as questionable for the Lakers’ game against the Brooklyn Nets. If he plays, this will mark the first back-to-back Davis has played in since bruising his tailbone.

Per McMenamin, Rajon Rondo (fractured right ring finger) and Kyle Kuzma (sore left ankle) are both probable. Tip off is set for 8 p.m. EST. in Brooklyn.

Davis scored a team-high 28 points, grabbed five rebounds and had five assists during the Lakers’ win Wednesday against the New York Knicks.

According to Basketball Reference, the performance marked the seventh time this season that Davis scored at least 20 points and tallied at least five rebounds and five assists.

As the Lakers’ leading scorer, Davis has shown more of how his versatile game can positively affect a team. This season, Davis is a Defensive Player of the Year candidate, and his length and quickness helps him guard multiple positions. He ranks third in the NBA in blocks per game (2.5).

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 9:30 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Bucks 121, Nets 107

Moneyline (ML)

The Bucks (-400) are overwhelming favorites against the Nets (+300), who have been reeling lately. Still, you can’t risk four times your return on investment. AVOID. There just isn’t enough value in tossing lettuce behind Milwaukee with a $10 bet returning a profit of only $2.50 with an outright win.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The BUCKS (-9.5, +105) are worth a look, especially at plus-money. They’re 7-3 ATS in the past 10 games on the road, and 13-4 ATS in the previous 17 against teams with a winning overall record. The Nets (+9.5, -129) are 2-9 ATS in the past 11 games overall, and 1-6 ATS in the past seven as an underdog.

Milwaukee has dominated the series in head-to-head matchups, too, going 26-9-1 ATS in the past 26 meetings, including 15-5-1 ATS in the past 21 trips to the borough.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 231.5 (-115) is the lean in this one. However, a line in the 230’s is just too high. It might very well happen, but that’s just not worth the headache of sweating it. The over is 4-1 in the past five meetings, and 8-3 in the past 11 in Brooklyn. I’d go really, really light on the under, or AVOID altogether.

Report: Joe Harris among three rotation players out against Bucks

Joe Harris, DeAndre Jordan and Garrett Temple are three key players in the Brooklyn Nets rotation.

The Brooklyn Nets have lost nine of their last 11, and with three rotation players listed as out for Saturday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks, it’s going to be tough for them to get out of this slump.

According to Brian Lewis of The New York Post, Nets wing Joe Harris is out with lower back soreness. It will be the first game Harris misses this season. Along with Harris, DeAndre Jordan (right middle finger dislocation) and Garrett Temple (right knee contusion) will be out Saturday, per Lewis.

Saturday’s game will be the third straight Temple is out, and per Lewis the Nets expect Temple to return for Monday’s game against the Philaedelphia 76ers.

Harris has started each of the Nets’ 40 games, and his shooting ability has been key for an offense that doesn’t rank high among the rest of the league. Harris is averaging a career-high 14.0 points per game and playing a career-high 31.7 minutes a game. He’s shooting 41.3% from the 3-point line.

The Nets are scoring 109.6 points a game this season, ranking 17th in the NBA. According to NBA.com, the Nets score 74.0 points when Harris is on the floor, and they score 35.6 when he’s off.

With Jordan out, the Nets will be without one of their best rebounders. Jordan and Jarrett Allen are tied for first on the team in rebounds per game (9.7). Jordan, who ranks third in blocks among active players, is Brooklyn’s second-leading shot blocker behind Allen and is averaging 0.9 blocks.

A 10-year veteran wing, Temple has provided solid production. He’s having one of the best seasons of his career, averaging a career-high 10.5 points a game and grabbing a career-high 3.4 rebounds a game.

The Nets schedule intensifies over the next three games. After their games against the Bucks and Sixers, the Nets will play on Thursday against the Los Angeles Lakers, the top team in the Western Conference.

Nets at 76ers: Key injuries

Nets at 76ers: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 10:30 a.m. ET.

Prediction

76ers 111, Nets 100

Moneyline (ML)

The 76ers (-295) are heavily favored even with Embiid on the shelf, and you can’t risk nearly three times the return on them. The Nets (+230) are coming in on the second end of a back-to-back after getting knocked off at home last night by the Jazz, 118-107. PASS.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

I don’t love the 76ERS (-7.5, -106) here, as they have really struggled without Embiid. In fact, they’re coming off a 101-95 loss in Indiana Monday, and they have won just four of their 10 games without ‘The Process’ this season.

However, the Nets (+7.5, -115) are on the second end of a back-to-back, and they didn’t cover at home vs. Utah. The Nets are 2-8 ATS in the past 10 games overall, 1-5 ATS in the past six as an underdog, and 0-6 ATS in the past six as a road dog. The Sixers are also 4-1 ATS in the previous five meetings. Those facts make Philly attractive, even without Embiid.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 222.5 (-121) is the way to go in this one, especially with a big chunk of Philly’s offense on the shelf, and the Nets entering with tired legs. The Under is 5-0 in Brooklyn’s past five playing with no rest, while the Under is 5-1 in Philly’s past six overall.

Jazz at Nets: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 9:55 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Jazz 113, Nets 109

Moneyline (ML)

The JAZZ (-150) are favored, but wait to make sure Mitchell is well and will suit up before finalizing your bets. Even if he doesn’t play, the Jazz defense will be hard on the Nets (+125), as Utah ranks seventh in the NBA in field-goal defense at 44.1 percent.

New to sports betting? Every $10 wagered on the Jazz ML will profit $6.67 if they win.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The JAZZ (-2.5, -115) will cost you less money if you lay the points, and really, we’re only talking about two buckets here. If you feel they’re going to win on the moneyline, the only difference here is three points. There is only one way you can lose betting the line as opposed to the moneyline, and that’s if Utah wins by only 2 points or less. Take the better odds and roll with Utah to win by more than two baskets – or a 3-pointer. In addition, Utah is 16-6 ATS in the previous 22 meetings, and 4-1 ATS in the past five trips to the borough.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 217.5 (-115) is the play, as Utah is averaging 109.7 points per game, which is the exact average on offense for Brooklyn, too. The Nets are also coughing up 111.0 PPG to rank 17th in the NBA. These teams can fill it up. Again, you might want to wait to see if Mitchell is officially active, as he is good for a team-high 24.2 PPG.
