Fan who ran onto court during Sixers vs. Wizards game banned, arrested

A fan who ran onto the floor in Washington D.C. has been banned and he has been arrested.

Yet another fan incident happened in the NBA Playoffs on Monday between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Washington Wizards as there are some fans who just can’t sit still and enjoy the game.

A fan ran onto the court in the third quarter of Game 4 on Monday and he attempted to make a jump at the basket next to Sixers big man Dwight Howard. After the jump, the fan was tackled by security and he was carried off the floor while receiving cheers and “MVP” chants from the crowd.

He was then arrested and taken out of the arena in swift action by Washington D.C. police.

Afterward, Monumental Sports & Entertainment released a statement that the fan base been banned from Capital One Arena and that charges are being pursued by the D.C. police department.

This is a shame after everything that has gone on with the fans in these playoffs. At this point, it is on the fans themselves to be able to contain themselves and just enjoy the game.

New York Knicks at Washington Wizards odds, picks and best bets

Wizards

  • Anzejs Pasecniks (neck) questionable

Knicks at Wizards: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 3 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Wizards 109, Knicks 107

Moneyline (ML)

The Wizards (-189) hold a 2-1 season-series lead over the Knicks (+155). Washington pasted New York in Madison Square Garden last month 114-96, thanks to a typical 30-point performance from Bradley Beal. The shooting guard had a streak of 21 consecutive 26-point games snapped Sunday in a 100-89 loss to the Miami Heat. In the Knicks’ previous game, they made easy work of an injury-depleted Detroit Pistons 96-84. The victory wrapped up a 3-2 homestead for the Knick. The Wizards are just 6-6 straight up as a home favorite, so their -189 moneyline is out the window, but can the Knicks pull off an upset? Sure, but the Knicks have only five wins in 26 games as a road dog and the +155 isn’t juicy enough to lean, like or love. PASS on the moneyline.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Since both teams stink, we are partially betting for one team and partially against another. The Wizards -4.5 (-106) can score points but are the lowest-ranked defensive rating team in the NBA and give up the most points per game. Also, they are just 2-3 against the spread in their last five games.

Where the KNICKS +4.5 (-115) have a decided edge is in the rebounding matchup. New York has the ninth-best defensive-rebounding percentage and best offensive-rebounding percentage in the NBA, while Washington is 28th in defensive-rebounding percentage and 20th in offensive-rebounding percentage. Additionally, New York has covered four of its previous five games.

like the KNICKS +4.5 (-115) because they’ll be able to trade buckets with the Wizards and gobble up loose boards.

Over/Under (O/U)

If we like the Knicks plus the points, then the UNDER 227.5 (+100) correlates with that pick. New York has one of the higher Under percentages in the NBA (29-34-1) and plays at a snail’s pace — ranked 24th in Pace of Play. The Under is 7-1 in the last eight Knicks-Wizards meetings and the Under has cashed in the last three games.

Since I generally don’t play totals, I only lean toward the UNDER.

Heat at Wizards: Odds, lines, picks, and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 12:15 p.m. E.T.

Prediction

Heat 118, Wizards 112

Moneyline (ML)

The HEAT (-209) are big road moneyline favorites over the Wizards (+170) on Sunday evening. Miami has won four of their last five games with their only loss coming against the Pelicans on Friday night. Meanwhile, Washington is in a bit of a slump as they have lost six of their last nine games. While this game could be close throughout, take the Heat to win at the Capital One Arena on Sunday.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The HEAT (-5.5) are two-basket favorites over the Wizards on Sunday afternoon. Despite being 40-23 on the season, the Heat have really struggled against the spread as of late, failing to cover in 10 of their last 14 games. Meanwhile, the Wizards have covered in five of their last seven games. But expect their luck to run out on Sunday as the Heat are the much more talented team. Take the Heat -5.5 versus the Wizards.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for this Eastern Conference matchup is set at 231.5 points, which feels high despite how good these two offenses have been this season. The Wizards are averaging nearly 116 points per game this season, but also have the 30th-ranked defense in the NBA. The Heat are near average in both categories, which could slow down the scoring in this game. Expect a ton of scoring, but for the UNDER 231.5 (-110) to ultimately hit in Washington.

Atlanta Hawks at Washington Wizards odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Friday’s Atlanta Hawks at Washington Wizards sports betting odds, with NBA matchup analysis and picks.

The Atlanta Hawks (19-44) visit the nation’s capital Friday to play the Washington Wizards (22-39) at the Capital One Arena at 7 p.m. ET. We analyze the Hawks-Wizards odds and lines, with NBA betting advice and tips around the matchup.

Hawks at Wizards: Key injuries

Hawks

  • PG Trae Young (illness) questionable
  • Dewayne Dedmon (elbow) probable
  • PF Bruno Fernando (shin) probable
  • Clint Capela (heel) out
  • SF Cam Reddish (back) out
  • PF Skal Labissiere (knee) out
  • SG DeAndre’ Bembry (abdominal) out

Wizards

  • PG John Wall (Achilles’) out

Hawks at Wizards: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 1:10 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Wizards 128, Hawks 104

Moneyline (ML)

Trae Young (illness) hitting the injury report is concerning for anyone looking to back Atlanta (+145) since they are 2-4 straight up in games without Young. The Hawks won the last meeting against the Wizards (-176), 152-133 Jan 26, but that was keyed by Young’s 45 points and 14 assists. The season series is split 1-1, and these two teams have alternated wins and covers in each of their last 10 meetings.

The Hawks are an abysmal 14-29 with a minus-7 average margin of victory, and the Wizards are a decent 18-20. I have more faith in Washington’s ability to bounce back than an Atlanta team that has the worst road record in the NBA (6-25) and is only 2-9 in Friday games. But, we are going to PASS ON THE STEEP MONEYLINE in favor of a line wager.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Washington enters today’s game with at least a fighting chance at earning a playoff berth while the Hawks are the second-worst team in the East. The Hawks were routed in its last game, 127-88, by the Memphis Grizzlies Monday as was Washington by the Portland Trail Blazers, 125-104, Wednesday. Many of the Hawks cited effort as the reason for the beating, and it should certainly be a question mark with nothing to play for a banged-up roster.

The Wizards -3.5 (-110) are 16-13 ATS at home and 8-10 ATS at home versus losing teams. Atlanta is a poor 10-18 ATS on the road and 4-11 ATS on the road versus losing teams. Definitely monitor the injury report up until game time, but based on the current info, WIZARDS -3.5 (-110) is the sharp play.

Over/Under (O/U)

It’s rare to see a total as high as 245.5, but the last Hawks-Wizards meeting was one of the highest-scoring games in the NBA this season. Both have a propensity to play in shootouts:  Atlanta and Washington have the fourth- and fifth-highest Over percentage in the NBA. But a Young-less Hawks team is a lot less offensively productive. Atlanta has gone Under the projected total in each of the six games Young has missed.

BET UNDER 245.5 (-115).

The Brooklyn Nets (26-30) and Washington Wizards (20-36) do battle at Capital One Arena in D.C. at 7 p.m. ET Wednesday. We analyze the Nets-Wizards sports betting odds and lines, with NBA betting advice and tips around the matchup.

Nets at Wizards: Key Injuries

Nets at Wizards: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 7:35 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Wizards 119, Nets 113

Moneyline (ML)

The WIZARDS (+100) are short dogs at home, but they’re the play. The Nets (-121) currently sit in the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference playoff chase, but the loss of Irving will hurt tremendously. They put up a good fight last time out, but lost at home to Orlando by a 115-113 score Monday. Meanwhile, Washington put up a great fight, but fell to Milwaukee 137-134 in overtime at home Monday.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Wizards ML returns a profit of $10 (even money) if they win.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Take the WIZARDS (+1.5, -110) as they’re 9-4 ATS in the past 13 games at home. They’re also 6-2 ATS in the past eight as a home dog, and 4-1 ATS in the past five overall as a dog. While the Nets (-1.5, -110) are 6-2 ATS in the past eight overall, and 7-2 ATS in the past nine as a favorite, remember that they’re just 4-9 ATS in the past 13 on the road – and a majority of those were with Irving in the backcourt. They’re worse off now. Plus, the Nets are just 4-14 ATS in their past 18 trips to D.C.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 235.5 (-115), which isn’t a slam-dunk play, but it will come in. The Under has connected in seven of the past 10 meetings in the nation’s capital. The Under is also 4-1 in Brooklyn’s past five as a favorite, while going 5-2 in Washington’s past seven against teams with a losing overall record.

Milwaukee Bucks at Washington Wizards odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Monday’s Bucks at Wizards sports betting odds, with NBA matchup analysis and picks.

The Milwaukee Bucks (48-8) kick off a back-to-back road trip as the best team in the NBA. They take on the Washington Wizards (20-35), who start a two-game homestand. Tipoff is Monday night at 7 p.m. ET at Capital One Arena.

We analyze the Bucks-Wizards odds and lines, with NBA betting advice and tips around the matchup.

Bucks at Wizards: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated Monday at 8:55 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Bucks 125, Wizards 105

Moneyline (ML)

As one would expect, this game is overwhelmingly in favor of the Bucks, with a ridiculous line of -1112. They are the best team in basketball and have won two blowouts since the All-Star Break. They are 22-5 on the road this season and have won eight of their last nine away from Milwaukee.

Washington, though, can be tough at home, having gone 13-14. That said, there is no value in betting the money line in this game. PASS on it. The Bucks will win but you won’t win enough money for it to be worth it.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The line is set at 12.5 points. Milwaukee has covered the spread in every victory since January 24. The only two games they failed to cover were losses. The last time the Bucks and Wizards played in January, it was a 20-point win. The Bucks are 16-10 ATS on the road and 15-9 ATS as road favorites. Washington is 14-13 ATS at home but has not covered the spread in a loss since January 22.

Take the Bucks to cover tonight as they have been doing in wins at -12.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for tonight’s game is set at a very high 240.5 points. The two teams combined for 282 points in their last game a month ago. The Bucks average nearly 120 points per game and the Wizards are allowing an average of nearly 120 points per game. The Bucks are 1-1 O/U in games with a total of 240 points or more. They are down Brook Lopez, who is out with a back injury, but it will be more about Washington’s scoring than Milwaukee’s. The Bucks will keep the Wizards under 110 tonight.

Washington games hit the Over more than 59% of the time but are only 9-7 O/U as home underdogs. Milwaukee is 12-13-1 O/U on the road and 11-12-1 O/U when favored on the road.

The total is just too high tonight. Take the UNDER (-110).

Chicago Bulls at Washington Wizards odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Tuesday’s Chicago Bulls at Washington Wizards sports betting odds and lines, with NBA matchup analysis, picks and best bets.

The Chicago Bulls (19-35) visit the nation’s capital to play the Washington Wizards (18-33) at Capital One Arena Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET. We analyze Bulls-Wizards odds and lines, with NBA betting advice and tips around the matchup.

Bulls at Wizards: Key injuries

Bulls

  • SG Denzel Valentine (hamstring) doubtful
  • SG Tomas Satoransky (ankle) probable
  • SG Zach LaVine (neck) probable
  • PF Daniel Gafford (ankle) probable
  • PG Ryan Arcidiacono (elbow) probable
  • PF Lauri Markkanen (pelvis) out
  • Wendell Carter Jr. (ankle) out
  • SF Otto Porter Jr. (foot) out
  • PG Kris Dunn (knee) out

Wizards

Bulls at Wizards: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 11:20 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Wizards 119, Bulls 113

Moneyline (ML)

The Bulls beat the Wizards in both meetings earlier this season—110-109 in overtime (Dec. 18) and 115-106 (Jan. 15)—extending their current win streak over the Wizards to four games. This Chicago team is a different team than the one that beat Washington just under a month ago. Every Bulls starter from that game is on today’s injury report and two of them are already ruled out against the Wizards. Looking at the Chicago injury report, there is no way I’d recommend betting Bulls (+120) to pull off a small upset. I also am not endorsing a wager on the Wizards (-143) because laying $143 to earn a profit of $100 on a side in a game BetMGM thinks will be close is not good value.

PASS ON THE MONEYLINE.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Bulls are 6-0 against the spread in the last six meetings in Washington, but the Wizards should have more success with its fifth highest-scoring offense going against Chicago’s 12th-ranked scoring defense. The Bulls have the fifth-lowest scoring offense and go up against Washington’s last-ranked scoring defense. Chicago has given up 115 or more points in their last five games (all of which were straight-up losses and four were ATS losses) and Washington has scored 113-plus in eight of its last nine games.

Ultimately, this comes down to Chicago’s health concerns. I got tired while typing up the Bulls’ injury report, I should have just copied and pasted it into this post. It was while typing that I decided to buck all the recent Bull-Wizards trends and BET WIZARDS -2.5 (-110) to win by at least 3 points.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Bulls and Wizards’ combined Over/Under record is 59-45-1, and their recent games have been high scoring as well. Chicago’s last seven games have all gone Over and Washington’s projected game totals have gone Over in seven of their last nine outings. While I like the Wizards to score against an average Bulls defense, everyone scores on Washington’s NBA worst defense. Expect a somewhat entertaining back and forth shootout from the East’s current 9-and 10-seeds.

TAKE OVER 229.5 (-115).

Prediction

Bulls 117, Wizards 111

Moneyline (ML)

The BULLS (-121) are worth a roll of the dice on the road, but keep a close eye on whether or not LaVine is officially cleared to go. If he has some sort of a setback, that’s a problem.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The BULLS (-2.5, +105) are an intriguing play at plus-money. Again, watch LaVine, as his status is important. Chicago is 4-0 ATS in the past four on the road, while going 5-1 ATS in the past six overall. They’re also 5-2 ATS in the past seven against teams with a losing overall mark. More importantly, Chicago is 5-0 ATS in the past five trips to D.C., and 4-1 ATS in the past five overall in this series.

The Wizards (+2.5, -125) are just 2-7 ATS in the past nine on a day of rest, and 1-4 ATS in the past five against teams with a losing overall mark.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS. The total is 230.5, and this one will be super close to the number. If there is a lean, it is slightly to the Under (-105). While the Over is 3-1-1 in the past five meetings in this series, the Under is 17-6 in the past 23 meetings in Washington.
