Here’s how NBA Twitter reacted to the Clippers’ unreal run to beat the Brooklyn Nets.
The Los Angeles Clippers did the impossible on Sunday afternoon. After being down 11 points with five minutes on the clock to the Brooklyn Nets, they went on a 22-0 run to win the game.
The Clippers are now 21-4 in their last 25 games of the season – the best record since December 1 in the league.
Here’s how NBA Twitter reacted to their ridiculous comeback.
Alabama basketball shares Brandon Miller and Noah Clowney’s new NBA numbers
Last Thursday, [autotag]Brandon Miller[/autotag] and [autotag]Noah Clowney[/autotag] became the first duo of Alabama basketball players to be selected in the first round of the NBA draft since 1995 when Jason Caffey and Antonio McDyess did it. The Charlotte Hornets selected Miller and the Brooklyn Nets chose Clowney.
However, the similarities don’t stop there as Miller and McDyess were both the No. 2 overall picks, the highest in program history. Caffey was then selected 20th overall in 1995 while Clowney went 21st overall this year, resulting in nearly identical drafts 28 years apart.
Today, Alabama basketball shared pictures to social media of Clowney and Miller both in their new uniforms and NBA numbers. Miller will wear No. 24 for the Hornets while Clowney will wear No. 21 for the Nets. The 2023-2024 NBA schedule has not been released yet, but both the Nets and Hornets are in the Eastern Conference and will face off at least three times next season.

Here’s how NBA Twitter reacted to the first game of the 2023 NBA playoffs.
The NBA has released the full Round 1 schedule for the Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets for the playoffs.
As the Philadelphia 76ers get set to take on the Brooklyn Nets in Round 1 of the NBA Playoffs beginning on Saturday, nobody knew the rest of the series schedule outside of Game 1.
That mystery is no more as the league released the full first-round series schedule around the league. The Sixers and the Nets will get underway on Saturday at 1 p.m. EDT with Game 2 of that series set for Monday at 7:30 p.m. EDT with both games being at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
The series will then shift north to Brooklyn with Game 3 set for April 20 at 7:30 p.m. EDT and Game 4 will be on April 22 at 1 p.m. EDT. If needed, Game 5 will be on April 24, Game 6 will be on April 27, and Game 7 will be on April 29. Times for those games are yet to be determined.
The Sixers are heavy favorites in this series considering they are led by a star duo in Joel Embiid and James Harden and it is expected that this will be a quick series. Philadelphia will have to take care of business against a scrappy Nets team.
The NBA announces that the Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets will begin their series with Game 1 on April 15 at 1 p.m. EDT.
The Philadelphia 76ers are officially done with the regular season following a 134-105 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday afternoon at the Barclays Center and their attention now turns toward the postseason when they face that same Nets team.
While neither team played their main players in the finale on Sunday, that will obviously be much different when the teams match up in the postseason.
While the full series schedule isn’t out just yet, the Sixers and the Nets do know when their series will begin. Joel Embiid and the championship minded Sixers will play host to the Nets on April 15 at 1 p.m. EDT.
The Sixers are entering the playoffs as the No. 3 seed in the East and they will be looking to build off a strong regular season and go on a deep run in the postseason. Philadelphia has fallen in Round 2 of the postseason in four of the previous five seasons and they are looking to finally get over the hump this time around.
The Philadelphia 76ers will officially take on the Brooklyn Nets in Round 1 of the playoffs after the Miami Heat fell to the Washington Wizards.
The Philadelphia 76ers now know their opponent in the first round of the NBA playoffs. The Brooklyn Nets will finish in sixth place in the Eastern Conference and earn the sixth seed. They claimed the final guaranteed playoff spot in the East when the Miami Heat fell to the Washington Wizards.
The Heat, after they defeated the Sixers rather easily on Thursday, rested Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, Kevin Love and Kyle Lowry for this matchup with the Wizards and lost 114-108. The loss locked the Heat into the play-in tournament.
The Nets are leading the Orlando Magic by a wide margin so even if the Heat did defeat the Wizards, Brooklyn was on pace to clinch the final spot by itself anyway.
The Heat fall to the Wizards 114-108. The 6 seed officially belongs to the Brooklyn Nets. The #Sixers will face the Nets in Round 1 of the playoffs.
The Sixers and the Nets will play in the season finale on Sunday at the Barclays Center in a meaningless contest. It will be tough to envision either team playing any of their regulars.
Here’s what NBA Twitter is saying about Kevin Durant’s current situation in Brooklyn.
According to multiple reports from Shams Charania and Adrian Wojnarowski, Kyrie Irving has been traded to the Dallas Mavericks.
That could perhaps cause Kevin Durant to request a trade out of Brooklyn as well, with the Phoenix Suns reportedly ready to pursue him if he becomes available.
After reacting to the Kyrie news, NBA Twitter also had a few things to say about KD’s situation.
Here’s how NBA Twitter reacted to the Nets trading Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks.
According to Shams Charania, the Brooklyn Nets are trading their star point guard Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, a first-round pick and multiple second-round picks.
NBA Twitter reacted to the trade bomb that created a dynamic duo in Dallas with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
It’s not time for Brooklyn to force their hand with a Kyrie trade just yet

Howdy, folks. Welcome back to Layup Lines. It’s Sykes, once again, here to usher you into the weekend. How about that Kyrie Irving news, huh?
The Brooklyn Nets are in a precarious situation. Their All-Star point guard has demanded a trade after contract negotiations fell through and, now, Â is forcing the Nets to make a choice: Either lose him for nothing this summer or make a trade. It’s the organization’s choice.
But, really, Brooklyn doesn’t have to do anything. Not just yet.
Yes, of course, the NBA’s trade deadline is on February 9. If the Nets want to get anything back in return for Irving right now, there’s only about a week left to do it. But Brooklyn doesn’t have to move Irving or sign him to an extension — not right now. That’s why we’re in this situation in the first place.
Irving wants to be paid his max salary. That’s why the two sides were in the midst of contract negotiations throughout the last week. Irving’s representation made it clear that he wanted to be there despite his trade request in the summer. The Nets, however, have been dragging their feet, per NBA Insider Marc Stein, because they believe there’s not a robust market for the guard and that he’ll need their help to leave for a desired destination via sign-and-trade in the summertime.
Irving is currently eligible for a 4-year, $198 million extension with the Nets and he could reasonably sign that sort o max deal in the offseason. But the only way he gets it is by either signing with Brooklyn outright or having them organize a sign-and-trade for his max salary. No other team can offer him as much as the Nets can, and it’s clear he wants to be paid his max.
He could just leave outright and decide to spurn them in the summer and that’s the risk Brooklyn would be taking on by doing nothing here. But what’s the harm in that? The market isn’t expected to be robust anyway, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.Â
Brooklyn could let him play out his deal, see where things end up and, if he leaves in the offseason, blow things up anyway. Trade Kevin Durant, see what’s out there for Ben Simmons and just move on from this Nets era. The Nets would have the pieces to move forward from that alone. Sure, they missed out on a return for Irving. But so what? It’d just be a sunk cost at that point. It probably wouldn’t speed up any rebuild in a tremendous fashion.
So, no. The Nets don’t have to do anything right now. The team does still have leverage and this isn’t a done deal.
We just have to wait and see how it plays out.
The Tip-Off
Some NBA goodness from around the USA TODAY Sports network.
There were basketball things that happened in the NBA outside of the Kyrie news today.
Before this, Dillon Brooks vs. Donovan Mitchell was the subject of (not too much) debate around the league. Everyone thinks Brooks should be suspended for delivering a cheap shot to Mitchell, including my colleague Charles Curtis.
Here’s more:
“Normally, a cheap shot to the groin from another player might be a fineable offense if there’s no history from the offender.
And when you hear from Mitchell there are other cases of Brooks being dirty that players around the league have noticed, it’s time for the NBA to take a stand and hand down a suspension that will draw the line at what Brooks can and can’t do.”
Dillon Brooks’ history here is exactly why the NBA needs to do something here. He, quite literally, cannot keep getting away with this.
Wizards (-3.5, -150) vs. Trail Blazers (+140), O/U 236.5, 7 PM ET
This is going to be a pretty good game. Don’t look now, but the Wizards have the longest winning streak (6 games) in the NBA. But they’ll absolutely have their hands full covering Damian Lillard, who is averaging 39.1 points on 53% shooting from the field. The dude is on fire.
I’d take the Blazers here +3.5. Nobody seems to have answers for Lillard and the Wizards love to play a close game.
Welp. That didn’t take long. With the NBA’s trade deadline just a few days away, it looks like there’s already a legitimate market out there for Kyrie Irving’s services.
Considering his history in the NBA and how — uh, let’s call it unpredictable — Irving can be, there was a question floating around about how many teams would potentially want to add the Nets’ All-Star to their roster.
It turns out there are already quite a few. According to multiple reports in the situation, there are already at least five potentially vying for Irving’s services.
Here, we have them all ranked from best to worst, starting with:
