Former Warrior Alec Burks hits trio of 3-pointers for Sixers in Orlando Bubble debut

In his Orlando Bubble debut, Alec Burks tallied three 3-pointers with two boards and an assist in the Sixers loss to the Pacers.

As the Golden State Warriors enter the offseason early, 22 teams are busy with seeding games before the start of the NBA’s Orlando Bubble postseason run. With no hoops on the schedule in the Bay Area, Warriors Wire is checking in with former members of the Dubs at Disney World.

While T.J. Warren stole the show with his career-high 53 points in the Indiana Pacers matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers, another former Warrior made his Orlando Bubble debut.

Alec Burks started his 2019-20 campaign with the Golden State Warriors. However, a pre-trade deadline deal moved Burks and Glenn Robinson III to the Sixers for draft pick compensation. Before the NBA season was put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, Burks played 12 games for Philadelphia, averaging 10.6 points and 3.2 rebounds per contest.

Against the Pacers, Burks came off the bench for 12 minutes, scoring nine points for the Sixers. All of Burks’ points came from 3-point range, splashing 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. The veteran swingman added two boards and an assist for the Sixers. Robinson III was ruled out against the Pacers with a hip pointer injury.

Joel Embiid recorded a massive double-double performance with 41 points and 21 rebounds. Yet, it wasn’t enough for Warren’s scolding career-high effort. In Indiana’s 127-121 victory, Warren tallied 53 points on 20-of-29 shooting from the field with 9-of-12 coming from long distance.

Orlando Bubble: Former Warrior Andre Iguodala adds triple in Heat’s 125-105 victory vs. Nuggets

In the Heat’s first game in the Orlando Bubble, former Warrior Andre Iguodala added three points in Miami’s win against the Denver Nuggets.

As 22 NBA teams make their long-awaited return to the court, the Golden State Warriors are at home. With a league-worst 15-50 record, the Warriors are one of eight teams on the outside of the NBA’s Orlando Bubble.

As the Warriors find ways to stay busy during their extended offseason, Warriors Wire is highlighting former members of the Dubs at Disney World.

On Saturday, Golden State’s 2015 Finals Most Valuable Player made his debut in the Bubble. In the Heat’s opening game of the NBA Restart, Andre Iguodala played 15 minutes off the bench, scoring three points on 1-2 shooting. Both of Iguodala’s shots came from beyond the arc. The veteran swingman added an assist against the Nuggets.

Jerami Grant and Nikola Jokic each added 19 points for the Nuggets, but it wasn’t enough. Six members of the Heat scored in double figures with Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler, leading Miami to a 125-105 victory at the Disney World campus.

Jaren Jackson Jr. scores 33-points against Portland Trail Blazers in seeding game

Jaren Jackson Jr. went off against the Portland Trailblazers, scoring 33 points and making an impact all over the court.

[jwplayer hl7WagTb]

Former Michigan State basketball player Jaren Jackson Jr. went off in the first seeding game against the Portland Trail Blazers last night. Jackson finished the game with 33 points, six threes, three rebounds, one steal, and one block. He also shot a ridiculous 40% from three-point land while taking 15 three-point shots.

Check out a few plays courtesy of the Memphis Grizzlies Twitter account below:

Jaren Jackson Jr. is legitimately special on the basketball court. Personally, I would take Jaren Jackson Jr. over Kristaps Porzingis every day of the week. Porzingis is talented but not as sound on defense as many analysts think. Jackson, on the other hand, is a strong rim protector and can score from anywhere on the court. He will drive to the rim and dunk on you or drop devastating threes from deep.

Juan Toscano-Anderson putting in work to become the Warriors next ‘Splash Cousin’

While the NBA is returning to the court in the Orlando Bubble, Juan Toscano-Anderson is working to become the Warriors next “Splash Cousin.”

While 22 teams make their return to action at Disney World, the Golden State Warriors are at home. With the league’s worst record, the Warriors are one of eight teams on the outside of the NBA Bubble.

Although the Warriors won’t be partaking in the NBA’s restart, members of Golden State are staying busy in the gym. With Chase Center reopening its doors for individual work, members of the Warriors have been spotted working out at Golden State’s practice facility.

During the Warriors’ extended offseason, Juan Toscano-Anderson has been trying to get on Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson’s level. When the Golden State Warriors shared a pair of photos with Toscano-Anderson and Jordan Poole working out at the Chase Center, the Bay Area native said he’s trying to become a “Splash Cousin.”

Former Nets player Kerry Kittles joined the game as a virtual fan and NBA fans had so many jokes

Oh no, Kerry

The NBA virtual fan experience has been largely hit or miss.

On one hand, quite frankly, it’s been extremely weird to see all of these virtual faces tuning in to the games from on a virtual screen.

On the other, we’ve managed to see some pretty cool faces in the crowd. The latest is Kerry Kittles. The former New Jersey net pulled up to the game in the virtual audience.

At first, it was pretty cool to see such an old player popping up on the screen. It’s one of those “Hey! My guy!” moments that take you back. And he could even hear the broadcast team talking about him. It was nice!

Then, everything started going terribly. He started glitching out and fading away back into whatever matrix he came from. It was terrible.

He just kept virtually pulsating and shaking his head as he acknowledged the broadcasters. It was hilariously bad. He looks like an extra from NBA Live 2003.

Y’all, look at how big this thumb is.

NBA fans had so many jokes.

So bad. So so so bad. But still, nice to see Kerry! Hopefully, during the next game his feed is a little better.

On the first day of games in Orlando, a pair of former Warriors suited up for the Los Angeles Lakers matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers. JaVale McGee started the game for the Lakers, tallying seven boards, six rebounds and two steals.

After the Lakers and Clippers traded shots throughout the opening day contest, the game went down to the wire. With 12 seconds remaining, James was able to register a putback to give the Lakers a two-point lead in the final seconds. Paul George missed the last shot of the game, giving the Lakers the first win inside the Orlando Bubble, 103-101.

Anthony Davis led the Lakers with game-high 34 points. The Kentucky product added eight rebounds and four assists. James capped off his first game in months with 16 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists. The All-Star duo of Leonard and George combined for 58 of the Clippers’ 101 points.

Former Golden State Wing Quinn Cook didn’t enter the game, receiving a DNP coach’s decision from Frank Vogel.

Every person on the court kneeled for the national anthem before the Jazz-Pelicans game

Powerful statement.

The NBA returned to action after a four-month hiatus amid the global coronavirus pandemic. But it was also a four months that saw nationwide protests against police brutality in response to the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor.

With the push for social justice on the forefront ahead of the NBA’s return, many expected the Jazz and Pelicans to make a demonstration during the national anthem on Thursday.

And that they did.

Before the game, every member of the Pelicans, Jazz and the officials took a knee for the national anthem in protest of police brutality and racial injustice. This was the scene in Orlando.

It was the same peaceful protest that Colin Kaepernick started back in 2016 before essentially seeing an end to his NFL career.

The NBA does have a rule that requires players to stand at attention for the anthems, but league commissioner Adam Silver said in the lead-up to the restart that he respected peaceful protest and would “address” whatever the players decided on.
