Report: Warriors holding free-agent workouts with multiple veterans over next two weeks

Over the next two weeks, Golden State is reportedly holding workouts with multiple veteran free agents, including a pair of former Warriors.

During the offseason, the Golden State Warriors tinkered with their roster by inking Draymond Green to a new contract, acquiring Chris Paul in a blockbuster trade with the Washington Wizards and signing veterans Dario Saric and Cory Joseph.

However, the Warriors might not be done this summer.

According to Shams Charania and Anthony Slater of The Athletic, the Warriors are holding workouts with multiple free-agent veterans. Among the group are former Warriors Juan Toscano-Anderson and Kent Bazemore. Harry Giles, Tony Snell, Dion Waiters and Trey Burke will also work out for the Warriors, per Charania and Slater.

Via @ShamsCharania on Twitter:

Toscano-Anderson played with the Warriors from 2019 to 2022, winning a championship in 2022. Toscano-Anderson played 73 games in his final season with the Warriors, averaging 3 points on 48.9% shooting from the field in 13.9 minutes per game.

After leaving the Warriors, Toscano-Anderson played for the Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz last season.

Bazemore played with the Warriors in 2013-14 and again during the 2020-21 season. Bazemore last played with the Lakers in the 2021-22 season. In 10 seasons, Bazemore averaged 8.2 points on 41.3% shooting from the field with 3.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.

The Lakers mistakenly featured players who aren’t even on their team in their pregame hype video

This is so embarrassing.

The Lakers are one of the worst teams in the NBA this season, and despite all odds, they can’t even get the simple stuff right.

Although the team was starting to play a bit better behind stellar efforts from Anthony Davis lately, Los Angeles blew a 17-point lead against the Pacers on Monday. But the embarrassment started long before Indiana rookie Andrew Nembhard hit a game-winning 3-pointer to crush the dreams of a three-game winning streak.

Before the match even began, the team was clouded by cursed energy. Unfortunately, someone in their game operations department accidentally pressed play on an old pregame hype video.

Fans were easily able to tell that something wasn’t right considering Malik Monk and Kent Bazemore were both featured in the video.

The Lakers did not re-sign Monk this past offseason, and he now plays for the Kings. Bazemore also signed a contract with the Kings but was waived on Oct. 15 before ever playing a game for the franchise this season.

Bazemore last played for the Lakers on April 7 and had not appeared in the starting lineup for Los Angeles since Dec. 17, 2021.

Unfortunately, given everything else that has happened with the Lakers so far this season, such a blunder is hardly even surprising.

Kent Bazemore will be joining the Sacramento Kings

After a very disappointing season with the Lakers, Kent Bazemore will get another opportunity up north.

Last summer, after their blockbuster trade for Russell Westbrook, the Los Angeles Lakers were forced to fill their roster with aging veterans since they had no salary cap space and no real tradable assets.

One of those veterans they signed was Kent Bazemore, a then-32-year-old 6-foot-4 wing who was coming off a strong season with the Golden State Warriors.

Bazemore played a portion of the 2013-14 season with the team, and it was projected he would be a solid 3-and-D role player. Some even expected him to be in the starting lineup, which he was to start the season. But he played very poorly offensively, even missing easy layups in transition, and his defense didn’t make up for his offensive ineptness.

Bazemore will try to rebound from his dismal season with the Sacramento Kings, whom he signed with on a one-year contract.

After playing poorly the first few weeks of this past season, the one-time Old Dominion University standout fell into head coach Frank Vogel’s doghouse and saw little action afterward.

Bazemore started one game in December and zero after the calendar turned into 2022.

At age 33, perhaps he’s not washed up, and playing for a team such as the Kings that doesn’t have any real expectations might help him reestablish himself.

5 realistic free agents Sixers should take a look at in 2022 offseason

Here are 5 free agents the Philadelphia 76ers should take a look at as they get into the 2022 offseason.

As the Philadelphia 76ers head into the draft and free agency portion of the offseason, there are some issues that have to be addressed with the roster. One is the lack of a “dawg” on the roster, which is something Joel Embiid wants addressed while the Sixers also need a 3-and-D player.

At the moment, the Sixers have the $6.4 million taxpayer mid-level exception to use, but they could open the full $10.3 million mid-level exception if they waive Danny Green, who will miss a good portion of the 2022-23 season.

Now, Philadelphia could clear more salary by dumping Furkan Korkmaz, Matisse Thybulle and Georges Niang. That would allow them to go after the bigger fish in the free agency pond, but they haven’t done so yet. So this list will be operating under the above parameters.

Here are five free agents who would fit the Sixers’ needs:

Lakers’ Kent Bazemore felt sick seeing Warriors reach NBA Finals

Lakers swingman Kent Bazemore may be regretting his decision to leave the Warriors last summer.

Last season, Kent Bazemore played for a Golden State Warriors team that lost in the play-in tournament and failed to reach the NBA playoffs for the second year in a row.

Believing he would have a shot at winning the world championship, he signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Lakers last summer.

Instead of getting to play for a ring, his new team missed the playoffs while his old team will be in the NBA Finals that start this week.

Bazemore gave his old teammates props for getting to the championship series, but he may be feeling a bit of regret for leaving them.

Via Lakers Daily:

“Kent Bazemore congratulated his former Warriors teammates on Twitter. However, he stated that he can’t help but feel “sick,” probably because his current team, the Los Angeles Lakers, did not even reach the postseason this year.”

Not only did Bazemore cost himself a great shot at a championship, but he also lost more than that by leaving the Warriors and joining L.A.

A few weeks ago, Bazemore admitted he may be open to staying with the Lakers next season. But with the success with his old team, it remains to be seen if he still feels that way.

Kent Bazemore speaks on his future with the Lakers

Lakers guard Kent Bazemore talked about whether he’d be interested in remaining with the team next season.

Guard Kent Bazemore was expected to be a key contributor for the Los Angeles Lakers when they signed him last summer.

But due to poor play, especially on the offensive end, he fell out of the rotation early in the season after starting the team’s first 13 games.

After that, he was nothing but an afterthought, especially for fans of the Purple and Gold.

But it sounds like Bazemore is at least open to the idea of staying with the team.

Via Lakers Daily:

“Kent Bazemore’s future with the team is certainly up in the air, as the veteran is a free agent this offseason. He recently spoke about the idea of returning to L.A.

“’What I’ll say is nothing ain’t much better than being a Laker, right?’ Bazemore said. ‘So, getting to see Kob numbers on the wall every day I went to practice was good inspiration for me. … There’s nothing like it, man.’

“Bazemore was then asked if there’s still some appeal for him to return to the team, and he said there ‘for sure’ is.”

The 6-foot-4 will be 33 next season, but if he will return to form, keeping him on a veteran’s minimum contract for insurance may not be a bad idea.

He has been known over the years as a solid defender who possesses a 7-foot wingspan, a decent 3-point shooter and someone who can occasionally score by getting his own shot.

Report: Lakers could buyout Kent Bazemore, DeAndre Jordan

The Los Angeles Lakers reportedly want to dump the contracts of Kent Bazemore and DeAndre Jordan.

With the 2022 NBA trade deadline just two days away, the Los Angeles Lakers are among the teams looking to shuffle the roster.

Kent Bazemore and DeAndre Jordan are two names that have emerged as trade candidates for a while now. After beginning the season as starters, both fell hard out of the rotation.

Even if they are not traded, their days in the purple and gold seem to be numbered. According to Jovan Buha and Bill Oram of The Athletic, the Lakers could dump their contracts soon:

Other than trying to move Horton-Tucker and/or Nunn, the next-most likely move for the Lakers would be dumping the contract of one of DeAndre Jordan or Kent Bazemore, either via trade or buyout, according to league sources. The goal would be to both save money on their $150-plus million cap sheet and to create an additional roster spot, according to league sources.

Moving on from both players is basically a must for the Lakers. They no longer contribute, and parting ways would open two vital roster spots.

There’s no guarantee the Lakers will land solid players via the buyout market this season — they got Andre Drummond and Ben McLemore as buyouts last season — because time will tell who is available. The path to quality players is limited, so let’s see what’s in store in the next 48 hours.

Report: Lakers could target Paul Millsap in buyout market; Kent Bazemore being shopped

The Los Angeles Lakers reportedly could be suitors for Paul Millsap while Kent Bazemore is being shopped.

The Los Angeles Lakers are three games below .500 at 24-27, and roster moves need to happen if the franchise hopes to make a serious push for the title this season.

Two nuggets of news dropped Wednesday involving the buyout market and a possible trade the Lakers could make.

Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report has the details:

The Lakers are searching to find Kent Bazemore a new home after he opened the season as a starter. And while it’s believed Paul Millsap would prefer to land in Chicago, having a connection to Bulls lead executive Arturas Karnisovas from their shared Denver days, Los Angeles has been mentioned as a suitor for Millsap should he reach the buyout market.

Bazemore’s news isn’t surprising. He’s been linked to a trade for about a month now, though it’s not clear which NBA team would want his services. He showed against the Charlotte Hornets he still has gas in the tank as a 3-and-D role player, and those are always wanted around the league.

The other is Paul Millsap, the longtime veteran who wants out of the Brooklyn Nets. The soon-to-be 37-year-old small-ball big man wants a bigger role with a new team. He last played on Jan. 13. Before that, Millsap appeared in 24 games and averaged 3.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.5 blocks in 11.2 minutes per game. He shot 37.6% overall and 22.2% from deep.

The Lakers would have competition with the Chicago Bulls for his signature, but there’s a role for Millsap on this team. He could slot in at the 4 or 5 depending on if LeBron James and Anthony Davis are playing. Trevor Ariza, 36, hasn’t worked the way L.A. hoped, but there’s also no guarantee Millsap would be any better.

L.A. will definitely be linked to more names as the trade deadline nears.

Who will the Lakers trade before the deadline?

Which one, if not all, of these players should the Los Angeles Lakers trade before the deadline?

The Los Angeles Lakers entered the 2021-22 NBA season with high hopes and aspirations of lifting a title when it was all said and done.

Fast forward 45 games: The Lakers have a 22-23 record and currently sit as the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference.

Injuries and setbacks due to health and safety protocols have definitely been a factor, but the team’s inconsistent energy and effort are easily the bigger concern.

The recent three-game stretch for Los Angeles highlights it: a 37-point loss to the Denver Nuggets, a gritty win against the top-seeded Utah Jazz and a fourth-quarter collapse against the lowly Indiana Pacers.

Even with a healthy Anthony Davis in the mix, this Lakers squad, as it stands, is not a championship-caliber team. But will the franchise make any trades? Let’s make the case for trading players where moving on makes sense:

Report: Lakers looking to trade Kent Bazemore, DeAndre Jordan

The Los Angeles Lakers reportedly want to move on from two veterans who have disappointed this year.

It’s a headline fans of the Los Angeles Lakers have been anticipating: DeAndre Jordan and Kent Bazemore could be shipped to a new team.

Following Rajon Rondo’s departure to the Cleveland Cavaliers, it looks as if  the Lakers are looking to unload two more veterans who have disappointed this season.

Both Jordan and Bazemore signed one-year deals for the veteran minimum this summer. Despite being in the rotation to start the season, they are out of the picture.

Brian Windhorst of ESPN reported Wednesday the Lakers are hoping to trade the two (h/t: @pickuphoop):

“They already offloaded a player in Rondo to create a roster spot, and they’re looking to do more of that. From teams that I’ve talked to, they’re out there. With LeBron James starting at center and Anthony Davis back, they’re looking to move DeAndre Jordan. Not necessarily for another player, but they can open up another roster spot. Kent Bazemore is another player they’ve been willing to talk about in talking to some other teams and I think, again, their goal is to open up a roster spot.”

Bazemore began the season as the team’s starting small forward, but he couldn’t convert his layups or 3s, leading to the Lakers being a minus-13.6 per 100 possessions when he played, ranking in the sixth percentile, via Cleaning the Glass (the lower, the worse).

Jordan also was a starter at the 5, but the Lakers are a minus-14 in his minutes, which also slots him in the sixth percentile.

The Lakers will need to hope another team is willing to add either of the two to their roster considering how poorly both have played. Bazemore could still help a squad as a 3-and-D veteran, and L.A. could also send cash as an incentive. It remains to be seen which team(s) would let L.A. open roster spots, but this is definitely a report to keep monitoring.
