2025 Oklahoma Sooners commitment tracker

Oklahoma Sooners 2025 commitment tracker

The Oklahoma Sooners are off to a much faster start in the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag] than in 2024. In fact, [autotag]Kevin Sperry[/autotag] committed to the 2025 class (March 13, 2023) before OU had received its first commitment for the 2024 class: [autotag]Jeremiah Newcombe[/autotag] (March 25, 2023).

The class has an Oklahoma flair. Five of the nine prospects hail from the Sooner State. And there could be more.

The Sooners are in the mix for a number of the best prospects in the 2025 cycle, including five-star offensive tackles [autotag]Ty Haywood[/autotag] and [autotag]Michael Fasusi[/autotag] and five-star defender [autotag]Jonah Williams[/autotag].

Oklahoma has done a fantastic job on the recruiting trail during the Brent Venables era, so there’s little doubt it will remain among the top 10 teams in the country.

Here are the players committed to the Oklahoma Sooners’ [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag].

Sooners inside the top 6 for 2025 four-star TE Da’Saahn Brame

Oklahoma was included alongside Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Oregon, and Tennessee for 2025 four-star tight end prospect Da’Saahn Brame.

The Oklahoma Sooners are hoping to go back-to-back recruiting classes with a blue-chip tight end after depth and production became an issue in 2023.

The Sooners have been heavily involved in the recruitment of four-star prospect [autotag]Nate Roberts[/autotag], but are also in the mix for another four-star prospect from the region, Kansas native [autotag]Da’Saahn Brame[/autotag].

Brame is considered the No. 3 tight end in the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag] and hails from Derby, Kansas. On Wednesday, he dropped his top six schools at this point in his recruitment, and the Sooners were included. Oklahoma is joined by Oregon, Ole Miss, Alabama, Tennessee, and LSU. It’s a star-studded group of programs that have been recruiting really well in recent years but the Sooners are no stranger to big-time recruiting battles.

At 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, Brame has a fantastic frame to build upon at the collegiate level and he knows how to use his size to make plays in the passing game. He regularly displays incredible athleticism, showing off an ability to get above the rim to high point the football, but also has really good lateral agility to work out routes and make players miss after the catch. His straight-line speed also jumps off the tape.

It’s easy to see why he’s caught the eye of 32 Power Four programs across the country.

4-star TE Nate Roberts puts Ducks among top schools

The Oregon Ducks landed among the top schools for 4-star TE Nate Roberts, the No. 5 TE in the 2025 class.

The Oregon Ducks are in good standing when it comes to one of the top tight end prospects in the 2025 class after hosting him on a visit earlier this year.

Earlier this week, 4-star tight end Nate Roberts announced that he is down to five schools in his recruitment, listing the Ducks alongside Ole Miss, Penn State, Ohio State, and Oklahoma.

Robers is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 118 overall player in the 2025 class, and the No. 5 tight end, standing at 6-foot-4, 235 pounds. At the moment, he is currently projected to commit to Ohio State, with three Crystal Ball predictions on 247Sports favoring the Buckeyes.

Oklahoma Sooners receive crystal ball for 2025 four-star EDGE C.J. Nickson

Oklahoma Sooners earn crystal ball for 2025 four-star prospect C.J. Nickson.

The Sooners have regained significant recruiting control over the state of Oklahoma with their 2025 class. There’s a chance that control could get tighter if the Sooners land the prospect that they just received a crystal ball in favor of.

C.J. Nickson, a top 50 player according to 247Sports and the No. 1 player in the state, was predicted to the Sooners earlier this week by Colin Kennedy of Sooners Illustrated and 247Sports.

Kennedy entered his prediction with a significant level of confidence. While there isn’t a time frame for Nickson to make a decision, that’s the third prediction favoring Oklahoma.

Nickson is ultra-talented and has plenty of athleticism to boot. He plays on both sides of the ball and has been offered to play basketball in college as well. Nickson has football offers from Georgia, Miami, TCU, and LSU in addition to his Sooners offer.

At Oklahoma, they have plans to play him as an EDGE rusher if he ends up as a Sooner. He’d also join Oklahoma’s basketball team, where he could play as a talented and versatile wing with the ability to put the ball in the basket.

As it stands right now, Nickson is a composite four-star player on 247Sports. He’s considered the No. 2 player in the state, according to the 247Sports composite ranking, behind another Sooners target, tight end [autotag]Nate Roberts[/autotag].

Four-star 2025 tight end set to visit Ohio State

There’s no doubt that Ohio State has been amongst the best in college football at recruiting and developing talent at skill positions.  This is most notably at wide receiver and running back.  However, the Buckeyes have also recruited well at tight end in recent years.

The Buckeyes landed Jelani Thurman, a four-star recruit ranked amongst the best tight ends in the 2023 class.  In the latest class in 2024, Ohio State signed four-star Max LeBlanc and three-star Damarion Witten.

Ohio State has offered nine tight ends thus far in the 2025 class.  This includes Nate Roberts who is rated as a four-star on all four major recruiting resources and the fifth ranked tight end on On3 Industry rankings.

Roberts’ recruitment appears to be trending in the right direction for the Buckeyes as he has set a visit for the Buckeyes’ spring game on April 13.

Roberts, who is also considering Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and Baylor amongst others is currently favored to land with the Buckeyes on 247Sports and On3.

Ohio State football’s tight end coach Keenan Bailey hints at a commitment coming soon

Is Bailey hinting at a Buckeye BOOM?

It seems like Ohio State football can’t be stopped on the recruiting trail over the last month plus.

The Buckeyes had gained multiple high profile commitments and transfers since the year turned to 2024 and the good times look to keep rolling. One of the positions that has added a player is the tight end room, and Buckeyes tight end coach, [autotag]Keenan Bailey[/autotag], is hinting that another might be on the way.

Bailey quoted Ohio State cornerback Denzel Burke, after the defensive back went to social media claiming that if you want to be developed, come to Columbus. It surely wasn’t a coincidence that Bailey capitalized TE in state, which is hinting a a tight end commitment.

If I had to guess who it was, it would be Oklahoma’s [autotag]Nate Roberts[/autotag], who has been to Columbus recently and has multiple 247Sports Crystal Ball selections for the Buckeyes.

If Bailey is right, Ohio State should be getting another BOOM! very shortly.

Penn State still in the mix for top five tight end

Penn State hopes to land big commitment from former Notre Dame tight end commit.

The recruitment of elite class of 2025 tight end [autotag]Nate Roberts[/autotag] will certainly be one to monitor throughout the spring and summer.

Despite some analysts of 247Sports putting Crystal Ball picks in that the four-star will eventually land with Ohio State, there’s been some information shared by Tom Loy of 247Sports that Penn State is still a major contender Roberts (subscription required).

The tight end prospect is a 6’4″ 235-pound native of Oklahoma who is ranked as the 119th player in the 2025 class and No. 5 overall at his position by On3’s Industry Ranking.

He was once committed to Notre Dame before reopening his recruiting process.

According to Loy, he has narrowed his choices to the five schools of Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon, and Oklahoma.

Roberts will be taking a visit to Oregon this weekend after previously visiting Ohio State.

Again, the Buckeyes are seen as the massive favorites to land him based on those Crystal Ball picks and On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine giving Ohio State a 74.5% chance pick up a commitment.

But he told Loy that he really likes Penn State and has developed a great relationship with tight ends coach [autotag]Ty Howle[/autotag]. He’s been impressed with how the Nittany Lions develop tight ends and thinks they would be a great option for him with his NFL aspirations based on that development and usage rate.

[autotag]James Franklin[/autotag] has played a major role in the recruitment of Roberts as well, making the tight end feel like he’s a top priority.

The plan is for Roberts to decide on his collegiate program before the start of his senior season in the fall. This will allow him to focus on playing his final year of high school football and then he’ll enroll with his university in January 2025.

Oklahoma Sooners add tight end via the transfer portal

Oklahoma Sooners pick up some tight end help via the transfer portal.

Heading into the offseason, there were two spots the Oklahoma Sooners needed to add talent through the transfer portal on the offensive side of the ball: the offensive line and tight end.

Oklahoma’s added three players along the offensive line and also got some help at tight end with the addition of [autotag]Bauer Sharp[/autotag]. Well, now they have more help at the position heading into 2024. Former UNT and Baylor tight end Jake Roberts committed to the Oklahoma Sooners on Monday night.

Out of Norman, Roberts was a three-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting class who committed to Sooners offensive coordinator [autotag]Seth Littrell[/autotag] while Littrell was the Head Coach at UNT.

Roberts spent three seasons at North Texas before transferring to Baylor for 2023. In 12 games for the Bears last season, Roberts had 23 receptions for 231 yards and a touchdown. In his final season with the Mean Green in 2022, he recorded 28 receptions for 394 yards and a touchdown and had one carry for 10 yards.

Though his numbers might not jump off the page, he was fourth in receiving yards at Baylor last season. He was one of the better blocking tight ends in college football in 2023. Among the 274 tight ends with at least 117 blocking snaps, Roberts was 17th in pass-blocking and 46th in run-blocking, according to Pro Football Focus.

Roberts provides important experience to a tight end room that was young or hadn’t played much at the FBS level. Roberts will have a shot to start or at least be a significant role player in the Sooners offense. His experience and familiarity with Seth Littrell provide the tight end room some leadership for guys like [autotag]Bauer Sharp[/autotag], [autotag]Kaden Helms[/autotag], [autotag]Kade McIntyre[/autotag], and [autotag]Davon Mitchell[/autotag] in 2024.

The other interesting wrinkle in the addition of Jake Roberts, is the recruitment of his younger brother [autotag]Nate Roberts[/autotag]. Nate is a highly sought after four-star tight end in the 2025 recruiting class who was initially committed to Notre Dame. He’s since backed off that pledge and holds offers from a number of Power Five schools, including Oklahoma. The Sooners are hoping to make him their tight end in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

Ohio State football trending to add top tight end to 2025 recruiting class

The Buckeyes are trending in the right direction with the elite tight end.

Recruits are starting to take notice of Ohio State football’s use of its tight ends.

Specifically, Oklahoma’s [autotag]Nate Roberts[/autotag] is. The 6-foot, 4-inch, 235-pound star was once committed to Notre Dame, but changed his mind shortly after making that decision.

The Buckeyes were one of his finalists, and now they look to be the favorite after this past weekend. Fighting Irish 247Sports insider Tom Loy logged a crystal ball pick for Ohio State to eventually be the landing spot for Roberts. He is ranked as the No. 2 tight end and 92nd overall recruit in the 2025 class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The Buckeyes have four total commitments for the 2025 class, none of the currently being a tight end.
