Browns mock draft watch: CBS Sports picks WR

Browns mock draft watch: CBS Sports picks WR #Browns, a Buckeye once again. @joshKeatley16 breaks down the mock:

It maybe bad new for most, but the Cleveland Browns are officially in draft season and I am very excited for who may become the next future star in Cleveland. The Browns appear to have hit the last draft out of the park with Greg Newsome and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah making immediate impacts in a positive fashion and this draft will hopefully yield the same.

We mentioned that the Browns went hard on the defense drafting a cornerback in in the first round and an outside linebacker in the second, but the focus on the 2022 NFL Draft may be more towards the offensive side and our friends at CBS Sports has an Ohio State receiver etched to Cleveland.

15 potential Lions to watch in the college football championship game

Here are 15 players from the CFP championship that Detroit Lions fans should know for 2022 NFL draft purposes

The final college football game of the season hits the ground running on Monday night. Georgia and Alabama will match up for the second time this season, with the winner earning the CFP national championship.

Befitting the top two programs in the country, there are loads of future NFL players on both squads. Not all are first-round talents or perfect fits for the Lions, however. Here are 15 players from the CFP championship that Detroit fans should know for 2022 NFL draft purposes.

5 Bulldogs to watch in the CFP national championship

5 Bulldogs Tide fans should watch in the CFP national championship!

When Alabama and Georgia face off on Jan. 10 in the CFP national championship, there will be as much NFL talent collectively on the field as a college football game could possibly have.

Both the Tide and Bulldogs are littered with future next-level stars and the SEC title game rematch is destined to be one to remember.

Alabama dominated Georiga a month ago in Atlanta 41-24. Bryce Young picked apart the Bulldog secondary and the Tide defense made the plays when they needed to, including a Jordan Battle pick-six to seal the victory.

The Bulldogs are fired up for the rematch and Alabama is focused on winning back-to-back titles for the first time in playoff history.

Before the two titans of college football clash, let’s take a look at five of the Georgia Bulldogs that Alabama fans should look for in the contest.

Falcons mock draft: Atlanta lands Georgia LB, Penn State WR

Using Pro Football Focus’ mock draft simulator, we made Atlanta’s three selections in the first two rounds of the 2022 draft.

As 2022 begins and the 2021 NFL season winds down, coverage of the draft is about to get ramped way up.

There are still two games remaining in the regular season and somehow the Atlanta Falcons are simultaneously on track for a top-10 pick and fighting for an NFC playoff seed. This year’s draft will be crucial as the Falcons front office continues to operate with very little cap space.

Using the Pro Football Focus mock draft simulator, we went through the first two rounds of the 2022 draft and made all three of Atlanta’s picks. Here are the results from our New Year’s Day Falcons mock.

Giants go all defense in Todd McShay’s first mock draft

The New York Giants pass on first-round offensive linemen in Todd McShay’s first 2022 mock draft, instead going all defense in Round 1.

There are only four weeks remaining in the 2021 regular season and that means the 2022 NFL draft order is beginning to take shape. The contenders have largely been separated from the pretenders and for roughly half of the league, looking ahead has begun.

ESPN’s Todd McShay is looking ahead as well. And on Tuesday, he released his very first mock draft of the season.

Who are the New York Giants selecting? Let’s take a look.

Note: McShay used ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) to project the order of the picks.

With pick No. 5 overall, McShay has the Giants taking Purdue defensive end George Karlaftis.

The Giants have a pair of early picks and could go a bunch of different ways. But they are no better than 25th in sacks (25), pass rush win rate (32.0%) and pressure rate (25.9%), despite some flashes from rookie Azeez Ojulari (7.5 sacks). Karlaftis wins with power and has proven disruptive even though he often sees double-teams for Purdue — and like Leonard Williams, he is versatile enough to rush from inside when needed.

At No. 7 overall, McShay has Big Blue selecting Georgia linebacker Nakobe Dean.

Cross could be a great option to shore up a brutal offensive line if he’s still available, and Alabama’s Jameson Williams would make sense. But I love Dean’s game, and he fits what the Giants covet — another three-down playmaking linebacker to line up with Blake Martinez, who will be returning from a torn ACL. Dean has sideline-to-sideline range and is an artist at slipping blocks, hunting down ball carriers and blowing up plays. Just look at this 13-game stat line for the season: 62 tackles, 5.0 sacks, 8 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles and a touchdown.

In McShay’s scenario, Mississippi State offensive lineman Charles Cross goes to the Carolina Panthers at No. 6 overall. Meanwhile, the Giants pass on other linemen such as Tyler Linderbaum, Ikem Ekwonu and Trevor Penning — all of whom go later in the first round.

Although Karlaftis and Dean provide major upgrades defensively, those selections would leave the Giants in the same exact situation offensively. They need multiple offensive linemen and potentially a tight end, wide receiver and running back.

Improving the defense — and specifically the pass rush — should be a focal point this offseason, but not at the expense of the league’s worst offensive line. Again.

Perfect early/late-round LB fits for Eagles in 2022 NFL Draft

Looking at the perfect early/late-round LINEBACKER fits for the Philadelphia #Eagles in 2022 #NFLDraft

As the Eagles get set to start preparing for their Week 15 matchup against Washington, all eyes are starting to turn towards the NFL draft, where Philadelphia will likely control the board with 3 first-round picks.

The Eagles haven’t drafted a linebacker in the first round since the late 70s, but 2022 could provide the ultimate opportunity for Howie Roseman to finally land a game-changer in the first or second round.

Regardless of what round Philadelphia strikes, there will be plenty of big-time linebackers on the board for the Eagles to target.

Trio of Bulldogs make All-America teams

3 Georgia Bulldogs have been selected to Walter Camp, FWAA All-America teams…

Three Georgia Bulldogs have been named Walter Camp and FWAA All-Americans.

Linebacker Nakobe Dean and defensive tackle Jordan Davis were both named to the first team, while offensive tackle Jamaree Salyer earned second team honors.

Dean had a breakout year in a dominant Georgia defense that held opponents under seven points per game (6.9).

The junior racked up 61 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, a forced fumble, five pass breakups and two interceptions (one returned for a touchdown).

The Mississippi native was given the Butkus Award, given to the nation’s top linebacker. Dean also won the high school version of the award in 2018.

Davis was an immovable force inside a talented UGA defensive line.

The senior took home both the Outland Trophy, given to the nation’s top interior lineman and the Bednarik Award, given to the best defensive player in college football.

It’s the first time ever an SEC player has swept both awards.

Salyer might have been a candidate for a first team selection if it weren’t for injury problems in the latter part of the season.

The senior missed four games but still played 71% of Georgia’s offensive snaps this season.

The preseason All-American was one of the highest graded tackles in all of college football in 2021, per Pro Football Focus.

The Bulldogs will need all three stars at their best when they face Michigan in the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Orange Bowl on New Year’s Eve.

Georgia LB Nakobe Dean wins Butkus Award

Congrats, Nakobe!

Georgia linebacker Nakobe Dean has won the 2021 Butkus Award, given to the nation’s best collegiate linebacker.

Dean is Georgia’s second winner of the award. Roquan Smith won it in 2017.

Dean has had a stellar season leading the Dawgs’ defense, which until Saturday vs. Alabama was regarded as arguably the best defense in college football history.

Through 13 games this season Dean has tallied 61 total tackles which is tied for first on the team with Channing Tindall. He has five sacks, one forced fumble and two interceptions.

“(Dean) is the commander in chief of making our calls,” Kirby Smart said earlier this season. “He’s very physical. He keys things really well, a very instinctive football player as Roquan (Smith) was as well.”

In addition to Smith and Dean, Georgia has had four other finalists in recent history, including Monty Rice (2020), Leonard Floyd (2015), Jarvis Jones (2011, 2012) and Justin Houston (2010).

5 key to success for the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game vs. Georgia

Here’s how Alabama can take down the Bulldogs on Saturday and lock up a spot in the CFP

Alabama opened the 2021 college football season as the top-ranked team that was looking to repeat as national champions. However, after suffering a rough road loss to Texas A&M, the Crimson Tide have been fighting an uphill battle to not only win another championship, but to simply make the playoffs.

Now that the team won out and finished the regular season with an 11-1 final record and a current ranking of No. 3, according to the College Football Playoff committee, there’s only one thing standing between Nick Saban and the chance for another title: the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs.

Alabama and Georgia have faced off a few times in recent seasons, whether it be in the regular season, the SEC Championship or even the Nation Championship game, the Crimson Tide walked away with a win in all of them.

Now, Georgia will look to end a six-game losing streak that dates all the way back to 2007. Here are five way Alabama could keep that streak going just a bit longer.

5 Bulldogs to watch in the SEC Championship

5 Bulldogs to watch as Alabama and Georgia battle for the SEC Championship!

It’s that time of year again, the two best teams in the SEC head over to Atlanta to battle it out for the SEC Championship.

This year, like several years in the past, is a matchup between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs. It’s Nick Saban vs. Kirby Smart.

Smart will lead the top-ranked Bulldogs into the contest, securely in the playoffs. Smark will also look to knock off his former boss for the first time ever. Saban brings the Tide into the matchup most likely needing a win to ensure a spot in the playoff.

Either way a lot is on the line and coach Saban and coach Smart won’t take one single snap in the contest. They will prepare their teams and it will be up to the guys between the lines to make the plays.

Today we will look at five Georgia Bulldogs that you should be keeping your eye on.
