5 takeaways from Alabama’s heartbreaking championship loss to Georgia

5 takeaways from Alabama’s heartbreaking championship loss to Georgia

You win some and you lose some. Unfortunately, for Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide, the loss came in the College Football Playoff national championship game at the hands of the Georgia Bulldogs 33-18.

The score isn’t a true indicator of how close the game truly was from start to finish. Both teams traded blows for the majority of the contest, but the Bulldogs took over late in the fourth quarter and iced the game with a pick-six off of Bryce Young.

As we drown in our sorrows, let’s take a look at five of the takeaways from Alabama’s heartbreaking loss.

Jameson Williams helped off the field in CFP title game with apparent knee injury

Potentially bad news for Jameson Williams and the Alabama offense

Moments into the second quarter Alabama holds a 6-3 lead over Georgia in the College Football Playoff national championship game

Unfortunately for the Tide, star wide receiver, Jameson Williams was just helped off the field after an apparent non-contact knee injury on a 40-yard reception from Bryce Young.

The Tide is already without its other playmaking wide receiver in John Metchie.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to monitor the injury to Jameson Williams and will provide an update as soon as possible.

Alabama strikes first with a Will Reichard FG, leads Georgia 3-0

Alabama strikes first in the CFP title game, leading Georgia 3-0.

Thanks to a Will Reichard 37-yard field goal, Alabama takes an early 3-0 lead over the Georgia Bulldogs.

The Tide avoided disaster earlier in the drive after what appeared to be a sack-fumble returned for a touchdown by the Bulldogs. After video review, it was decided that Bryce Young had control of the ball and was moving his arm forward and that resulted in an incomplete pass.

Young went 5-9 for 45 yards on the Tide’s first drive of the game, helping Alabama drive into scoring range to set up the Reichard attempt.

Alabama vs. Georgia: Final thoughts before kickoff of CFP championship game

Alabama vs. Georgia: Final thoughts before kickoff of CFP championship game

We are closing in on the kickoff of the 2022 College Football Playoff national championship game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs.

Both teams have had magical seasons and hope to finish the season on a high note, hoisting the national championship trophy.

Alabama took care of the Bulldogs in the SEC Championship back in December, 41-24. Georgia hopes to get the best of the Tide this time around while also winning its first national championship since 1980.

Nick Saban and the Tide are seeking to become the first team to repeat as champions in the playoff era. A win would give Saban seven championships while in Tuscaloosa, and it would be his eighth overall as a college head coach.

Here are some final thoughts before kickoff.

3 keys to victory for Alabama in CFP title game vs. Georgia

These three things need to happen if Alabama wants to repeat as champions!

Gameday has officially arrived. Tonight, Alabama and Georgia will square off for the College Football Playoff national championship in Indianapolis.

Alabama got the best of the Bulldogs in the SEC Championship in December, 41-24. Georiga will be looking for revenge and its first national championship since 1980.

Nick Saban and the Tide are seeking to become the first team to repeat as champions in the playoff era. A win would give Saban seven championships while in Tuscaloosa and it would be his eighth overall as a college head coach.

In these types of matchups, the margin for error is so small. The Crimson Tide will need to play well if they have hopes of hoisting the championship trophy once again.

Now, let’s take a few moments to look at three keys to victory for Alabama as they try to defeat the Georgia Bulldogs.

Roll Tide Wire staff predictions for Alabama vs. Georgia

Roll Tide Wire staff predictions for Alabama’s national championship matchup with Georgia!

Alabama and Georgia are set to compete Monday night for the College Football Playoff national championship. The two teams faced off just a little over a month ago as the Tide defeated the Bulldogs 41-24 for the SEC Championship.

As we close in on kickoff, it is time for the staff here at Roll Tide Wire to offer up our predictions for the championship contest.

Let’s take a look!

Staff predicts the game

Alabama (+2.5) Record ATS Winner Record Overall
AJ Spurr Alabama 7-4 Alabama 10-1
Stacey Blackwood Alabama 7-4 Alabama 9-1
Layne Gerbig Alabama 6-5 Alabama 9-1

AJ Spurr

It all comes down to this game. Sure, the two teams faced off just a month ago, so one would assume they have figured each other out. I don’t believe that’s the case. Nick Saban knows to prepare for all possible scenarios, and likely has a trick or two up his sleeve. Bryce Young has improved in every single game he’s played this season. Expect more from the Heisman-winning quarterback in the final game of the season. Oh, and the Crimson Tide defense is still a dominant force the Bulldogs offense will have to go through.

Alabama 31 , Georgia 24

Big-time games are, more often than not, won by big-time quarterbacks. Alabama has its playmaking quarterback in Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young. Not only does Alabama hold the advantage under center, but they also hold the advantage on the sidelines with Nick Saban. Give me ‘Bama!

Alabama 31, Georgia 20

Layne Gerbig

Who would’ve thought that this is where we would be during a “down” year? SEC champions and competing for yet another national title. The better offense will win on Monday, and the better offense is Alabama’s.

Alabama 34 , Georgia 17

You can watch Alabama and Cincinnati battle it out this Monday at 7:00 p.m. CT on ESPN!

LOOK: Jordan Davis and the Bulldog defense have a unique nickname for Bryce Young

Pretty interesting nickname that the Georgia defenders have given Bryce Young

Alabama and Georgia are set to compete Monday night for the College Football Playoff national championship. The two teams faced off just a little over a month ago as the Tide defeated the Bulldogs 41-24 for the SEC Championship.

Both teams have now arrived in Indianapolis and are now taking part in the national championship media day festivities.

As you can imagine there have been several one-liners and endless quotes from both teams.

When asked about Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, star Georgia defender Jordan Davis had some interesting comments.

That really is a fitting name for the Heisman-winning quarterback, if you think about it. Young’s ability to elude defenders and remain calm, cool, and collected has catapulted the Crimson Tide to yet another championship game appearance.

LOOK: Twitter goes crazy over Nick Saban’s leather jacket

What do you think of Nick Saban’s look?

Alabama arrived in Indianapolis late Friday in preparation for its College Football Playoff national championship matchup with the Georgia Bulldogs.

Due to the blistering cold weather that Indy welcomed the Crimson Tide with, Alabama head coach Nick Saban went deep into his closet to find just the right jacket for the occasion.

Saban was seen wearing a brown bomber leather jacket as the Tide arrived in Indianapolis and Twitter absolutely lost its mind!

As you can see, the Crimson Tide faithful have fallen in love with Saban’s leather jacket. It has even given the fans a better feeling about the game on Monday night.
