Alabama surges to halftime lead over Georgia

Alabama has the lead over Georgia at halftime of the SEC Championship Game

Alabama saw Georgia come out strong in Saturday’s SEC Championship Game. However, the Tide rebounded and wound up with a 17-7 lead at halftime.

The biggest plays happened on Alabama’s last drive of the first half.

Nick Saban opted to go for it on a fourth-and-4 up 10-7 and Jalen Milroe hit Isaiah Bond for 17 yards.

Milroe then connected with Jermaine Burton on a 15-yard TD pass with 48 seconds left before the break.

Burton is a transfer from … Georgia.

Areas of concern ahead of Alabama’s SEC Championship matchup against Georgia

Areas of concern for the Crimson Tide ahead of Alabama’s matchup against Georgia.

Alabama versus Georgia is one of the most anticipated matchups of the 2023 season. The Crimson Tide seemed to have peaked at the right time and have an opportunity to boost its resume against a very good Georgia team on Saturday evening.

The Tide had some issues against Auburn last week, as the team struggled against the run and had some difficulties late in the game on offense. For the most part, Alabama has made things look relatively easy in the past few weeks.

That could change against an experienced, talented squad like Georgia. It will not be as easy to get by with bone-headed mistakes or costly penalties.

Roll Tide Wire breaks down the areas of concern ahead of Alabama’s SEC Championship matchup against Georgia.

SEC football Power Rankings heading into the SEC Championship

SEC football power rankings heading into the SEC Championship game.

The SEC has been unpredictable this season. I think it is safe to say that no one would have predicted Missouri to be ranked No. 9 in the country or Arkansas to finish the regular season with a 4-8 record.

It has been interesting to see how the upper echelon has performed as well. Georgia and Alabama are the only two programs that have a chance to reach the College Football Playoff.

LSU and Ole Miss improved as the season went along. Other programs like Auburn, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Florida, and Vanderbilt each spiraled downward as the season progressed. Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Kentucky each got off to hot starts but simmered down toward the back end of their schedules.

Roll Tide Wire provides the latest SEC football power rankings heading into the SEC Championship game.

Alabama knocks off Texas A&M to win program’s eighth SEC Tournament Title

The No. 1 seed Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the No. 2 seed Texas A&M Aggies in Sunday’s SEC Championship Game by a final score of 82-63.

The Alabama men’s basketball team secured its eighth conference title with a 82-63 win over Texas A&M in Sunday’s SEC Championship. The Tide have solidified themselves as a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Alabama was led by the trio of Charles Bediako, Brandon Miller, and Jahvon Quinerly.

Bediako played one of the best games of his college career on Sunday. The Canadian scored 12 points while grabbing 13 rebounds. He also added five blocks.

Quinerly provided a huge boost to the Tide’s scoring efforts in the first half. The senior added 22 points having shot 8-14 from the field and 4-8 from the three-point line.

As for Miller, he was the spark that Alabama needed to pull away in the second half. Miller finished the game with 23 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and three steals. He was also awarded as the MVP of the SEC Tournament.

The Tide will wait to see how their side of the bracket stacks up. The NCAA selection committee is set to reveal the bracket at 5 CST on CBS. As mentioned, Alabama is sure to receive a No. 1 seed. They also have a strong chance of receiving the No. 1 overall seed for the NCAA Tournament.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the Alabama basketball program as postseason play continues.

Georgia football defeated the LSU Tigers to win the 2022 SEC championship game

The Georgia Bulldogs defeated the LSU Tigers to win the 2022 SEC championship game. Georgia used a near-perfect first half to topple the Tigers.

The Bulldogs began the game with a 35-10 first half. Geogia had some luck on its side. Georgia defensive back Christopher Smith returned a blocked kick for a touchdown and linebacker Smael Mondon had a freak interception. Smith later had an interception in the second half.

Georgia’s performance was not perfect. The Bulldogs gave up a season-high 30 points and 502 passing yards to the LSU Tigers. Additionally, right tackle Warren McClendon and wide receiver Ladd McConkey both left Georgia’s 50-30 win over LSU with knee injuries.

Let’s take a look at the top photos from Georgia football’s SEC championship game win!

Georgia returns blocked field goal for TD as LSU falls asleep

A blocked field goal by Georgia turned embarrassing for LSU

Play until the whistle, they say.

Georgia abides by the adage. Meanwhile, LSU forgot it and it cost the Tigers in Saturday’s SEC Championship Game.

The Bulldogs’ Nazir Stackhouse blocked an LSU field-goal attempt in the first quarter.

While some Georgia players celebrated and got ready to head to the sidelines, the entire LSU special-teams unit packed it in.

Christopher Smith of Georgia realized it was a live ball and lulled everyone to sleep before picking it up and returning the football 95 yards for a score.

It was the start of the first-half avalanche of points as Georgia led the 3-loss Tigers, 35-10 at the break.
