Former MSU basketball big man Marcus Bingham Jr. joining Hapoel Haifa of the Israeli Basketball Premier League

Marcus Bingham Jr. joining Hapoel Haifa of the Israeli Basketball Premier League

After playing recently on the Dallas Mavericks’ Summer League roster, Marcus Bingham Jr. has secured a landing spot in a pro basketball league. On Tuesday, it was announced that Bingham will be joining Hapoel Haifa of the Israeli Basketball Premier League.

Bingham spent two summers playing with the Mavericks’ Summer League team before landing with Hapoel Haifa. Last year, he was set to play in the G-League until suffering an injury that kept him out of action.

Why Mavericks’ center Marcus Bingham Jr. hilariously (and correctly!) dunked on the wrong basket in NBA Summer League

Marcus Bingham Jr. is smarter than all of us.

I have no idea why this is, but the Dallas Mavericks can’t seem to stay away from wrong-basket debacles in the NBA.

We remember the fiasco with the Golden State Warriors this season that ended up in Mark Cuban actually protesting a loss because of a free basket the Warriors got behind an officiating mistake.

Now, the Mavs are finally on the right end of one of those mistakes. Summer Leaguer Marcus Bingham Jr. was the only person who realized it, though.

After a dead ball, the Mavericks were awarded the ball by the officials and just continued to play regularly. That is, until Marcus Bingham Jr. did the unthinkable.

He took the ball the other way and dunked it. It was HILARIOUS.

Jared Dudley (who is apparently coaching now!) was absolutely stunned. Mans said “what are you doing?” And, yeah, that’s the question we all had.

But if you were actually paying attention — which no one but Bingham appeared to me — you’d know that Bingham was right.

Marcus Bingham Jr. has suffered a season ending injury

Marcus Bingham Jr. was set to play the 2022-23 season with the Texas Legends, the NBA G League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks.

Unfortunately, Bingham will not suit up for the Legends after suffering a season ending injury per the team’s roster report.

The nature of the injury was not released with the report:

Marcus Bingham Jr. made a highlight pass in his summer league debut:

The NBA Summer League in Las Vegas has begun, where rookies will get their first chance to show off their skills. Although undrafted, Marcus Bingham Jr. latched on with the Dallas Mavericks and is a part of the team’s summer league roster.

In the team, and Bingham’s summer league debut against the Chicago Bulls, Bingham made a spectacular pass. The highlight-worthy pass was featured on the NBA’s Twitter page.

The biggest snubs to not get invited to the 2022 NBA combine or G League Elite Camp in Chicago

The NBA draft starts to take shape once the combine begins in Chicago, and we’re now less than a week away from those events kicking off.

The NBA draft starts to take shape once the combine begins in Chicago, and we’re now less than a week away from that event kicking off.

For the fourth year in a row, the process will begin with the G League Elite Camp. Forty-four prospects were invited to that camp, which takes place between May 16 and May 17. Then, a select few of those players will advance to the official NBA combine, where they will join the 78 players who were invited to those events, which will occur between May 18 and May 22.

These prospects are all competing for one of the 58 spots in the NBA draft. Based on their performance at the combine, some may opt to wait another year until they turn pro. Others, however, won’t even get a chance to show out at the combine.

NBA teams vote on which players should receive invitations to the combine, so if a player was not invited to either the G League Elite Camp or the NBA draft combine, it’s a pretty good sign of their draft stock right now.

Based on my intel and research, I’ve listed a few of the most notable players who will not be in Chicago. I did not include Michigan’s Caleb Houstan and Iowa’s Kris Murray, as both players reportedly rejected their invitations.

My list also excludes overseas players (e.g. Yannick Nzosa, Ibou Badji, Giordano Bortolani, Ziga Samar, Malcolm Cazalon, Gui Santos, Fedor Zugic, Mario Nakic, Yoan Makoundou, Carlos Alocen, Karlo Matkovic, and Danko Brankovic). Although some of those players are in a draftable range, many are still in the midst of the season.

Otherwise, the following players caught my attention as the biggest snubs:

Marcus Bingham Jr. says goodbye to Spartan Nation

Marcus Bingham Jr. took to Twitter to say goodbye to Spartan Nation as he plans to pursue a career in professional basketball

Marcus Bingham Jr. has officially declared that he is forgoing his final year of eligibility to pursue a professional career in basketball. After four strong years of donning the green and white, Bingham has made the decision to move on from Michigan State.

Spartan Nation has been in full support of Bingham’s decision to pursue a professional route in basketball, and surely will be cheering him on every step of the way.

Bingham took to Twitter to give Spartan Nation a goodbye message.

Denzel Valentine praises Marcus Bingham Jr., talks about his minutes

Denzel Valentine had some strong words about Marcus Bingham Jr.’s minutes and praising his performance

Denzel Valentine took to Twitter to give praise to Marcus Bingham Jr., who recently broke Xavier Tillman’s record for most blocks in MSU program history. While giving praise, Valentine made a comment that is in the minds of many MSU fans.

Marcus Bingham is MSU’s all time leader in blocks averaging just 11.8 minutes per game. He impacted the game like that in little time. Just think if he would of averaged even 20 minutes,” Valentine said in his tweet.

Playing time has always been a question MSU fans have had of Marcus Bingham Jr., and something they wish they saw more of.

Valentine’s tweet went on, and he made a comment praising Bingham and what doing so much in such little time shows us all.

That goes to show you he’s easily a NBA player!!” Valentine stated.

Marcus Bingham Jr. breaks Michigan State basketball all-time blocks record

Marcus Bingham Jr. has made history in today’s game against Purdue

Marcus Bingham Jr. has made Michigan State basketball history during Saturday’s game against Purdue. With a block early in the second half against Purdue center Zach Edey, Bingham has tied Xavier Tillman for the most blocks in program history with 153. Bingham will need one more block this season to take over the all-time lead by himself.

Bingham, like Tillman, came to Michigan State from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and the two have been lifelong friends. Now, getting to share this record for even a short time, is something that is memorable to the two.

Michigan State basketball expecting to be without a few players against High Point

The Spartans are going to be without a few key pieces in Wednesday’s game against High Point

In a pregame press conference ahead of Michigan State’s tilt with High Point on Wednesday, head coach Tom Izzo announced that the Spartans are going to be without several different players.

It appears the Spartans will be without Marcus Bingham, Max Christie, Pierre Brooks and Steven Izzo. Davis Smith is also a player that could be in danger of missing the game.

The tenth-ranked Spartans will look to win their eleventh game of the season, while the Panthers of High Point will look to improve to 7-6 on the season.
