Aaron Henry wins player of the game award

Aaron Henry was on fire on Wednesday night

Aaron Henry had moved on from Michigan State basketball this past year, electing to pursue a professional basketball career. After going undrafted in the NBA draft, Henry quickly signed a contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. Henry has bounced back and forth with the 76ers and their G-league affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats.

In a game against the Capital City Go-Go, Henry had a monster performance, scoring 25-points on 10-of-17 shooting and getting 3 steals. This earned him Delaware’s “specialist of the game” honors.

Sixers convert Charlie Brown Jr. to two-way deal, release Aaron Henry

The Philadelphia 76ers will convert Charlie Brown Jr. to a two-way deal and release Aaron Henry.

With the Philadelphia 76ers dealing with more COVID-19 issues, it offered up some opportunities for others in the G League to earn a look and try to prove their worth out on the floor.

Charlie Brown Jr. was one of the few guys who earned 10-day hardship exception contracts with the Sixers and he was able to show off his worth. In his few minutes, he was able to show off his length on the defensive end, he was helpful on the glass, and he was able to show his athleticism as well.

With the Sixers struggling on the glass, they have decided to convert Brown Jr.’s contract to a two-way deal and they will release Aaron Henry in the process.

Brown Jr. may not be a regular rotation player once everybody returns and is healthy, but he has proven he can be a solid player when called upon to give minutes in a pinch. He can also give the team a jolt every once in a while when they need it.

Sixers player grades: Joel Embiid leads the way in win over Celtics

Joel Embiid led the way as the Philadelphia 76ers knocked off the Boston Celtics to snap a 3-game losing skid.

The Philadelphia 76ers entered TD Garden on Monday for a matchup with the Boston Celtics while being very shorthanded. The Sixers entered this one missing Tyrese Maxey, Andre Drummond, Shake Milton, Furkan Korkmaz, and Georges Niang who all play a key role for this team off the bench.

Despite all of the losses, somehow, some way, the Sixers were able to come away with a 108-103 win over the Celtics on the road in order to snap a 3-game losing skid. Joel Embiid had himself a big game with 41 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists to lead Philadelphia while Seth Curry also added 26 points and seven assists.

Tobias Harris also had a big game with 25 points and seven rebounds while Matisse Thybulle had seven points in a start before fouling out. Danny Green had eight points and he made a clutch triple late.

Here are the player grades following the win:

Sixers assign Jaden Springer, Aaron Henry to Blue Coats in G League

The two rookies are expected to play with Delaware on Friday versus the Maine Celtics.

Philadelphia 76ers rookies Jaden Springer and Aaron Henry have been assigned to the Delaware Blue Coats in the NBA G League, according to Ky Carlin of Sixers Wire.

Springer and Henry have seen minimal playing time with the Sixers, each logging just two minutes of action. They previously participated with the Blue Coats during their training camp last month and are now expected to play with them on Friday versus the Maine Celtics.

The contest will be the second of the season for the Blue Coats.

Springer averaged 2.5 points, two rebounds and one assist in four appearances with the Sixers during the preseason. Henry, who is signed to a two-way contract, averaged 2.5 points, 1.8 steals, 1.5 rebounds and one assist in four games.

76ers head coach Doc Rivers previously pointed to Blue Coats head coach Coby Karl and his ability to develop players. The team has used the Blue Coats extensively in the past and has found success so they feel comfortable sending Springer and Henry to Delaware.

Springer and Henry figure to spend much of the season in a developmental role, either with the Sixers or Blue Coats. The opportunity to play with the Blue Coats should only help improve their games and ease the transition to the NBA.

The contest between the Blue Coats and Celtics can be streamed starting at 7 p.m. EST.

Sixers have called up Jaden Springer, Aaron Henry for matchup with Bulls

The Philadelphia 76ers will call up Jaden Springer and Aaron Henry for their matchup with the Chicago Bulls.

The Philadelphia 76ers are entering the Windy  City a little shorthanded as they will still be missing Ben Simmons as well as Tobias Harris, Isaiah Joe, and Matisse Thybulle for being in the league’s health and safety protocols.

Therefore, they will be in need of some extra bodies to help Joel Embiid and Seth Curry out on the floor. There is a chance that Danny Green and Furkan Korkmaz could play, but even that is a tough call.

The Sixers responded by recalling rookie Jaden Springer and two-way player Aaron Henry from the G League to join the team in Chicago. The two were set to play in the opener for the Delaware Blue Coats on Saturday, but they will instead be bodies for the Sixers.

The Sixers will be looking for a second consecutive win over the Bulls after coming away with a win on Wednesday over them at home. A big factor in that game was Thybulle’s defense, but they will have to rely on others to step up in his absence.
