The Spartans knocked off Mississippi State in the round of 64 on Thursday afternoon in dominating fashion, 69-51.

To cap the outstanding performance by Michigan State, fans were given a treat when the walk-ons, including Steven Izzo, got into the game in the last minute.

With the walk-ons in the game, fans received another treat: Izzo assisted a Davis Smith 3-point basket to cap the win.

Tom, Steven Izzo get emotional after MSU basketball’s senior day win

Tom and Steven Izzo got emotional in their post game interview with Big Ten Network

Michigan State hosted Northwestern on Wednesday night for senior day, and included in that senior day was Tom Izzo’s son, Steven. The Spartans were able to grind out a gritty 53-49 win to highlight the night.

After the win, Big Ten Network’s Andy Katz got Tom and Steven together for an interview, and needless to say, it got emotional.

In one of the most heart-warming videos you’ll see this year, Steven Izzo gets choked up talking about playing for his dad, and what it meant for his dad to be willing to take some heat for bringing his son into the program, especially at his 5’8″ height.

Steven Izzo is coming back for one last ride with MSU

Steven Izzo is coming back for one last ride with the Spartans. On Thursday, it was announced the Spartans’ senior guard will return for the 2023-24 season, utilizing his extra year of eligibility from COVID-19 to spend one more year around his father’s program.

Izzo obviously isn’t part of the rotation, but has become a beloved member of the program, not just for obvious reasons. His energy on the bench has become infectious to fans and his teammates.

Tom Izzo, Steven Izzo, Malik Hall and AJ Hoggard in Memphis for Grizzlies vs. Warriors playoff game

A squad of Spartans made the trip down to Memphis to watch Draymond Green, Xavier Tillman and Jaren Jackson Jr.

While much of the country is probably looking at the Memphis Grizzlies matchup with the Golden State Warriors as a showdown between Ja Morant and Steph Curry, it has a different meaning for Michigan State fans as three Spartans are starting in the series in Draymond Green, Xavier Tillman and Jaren Jackson Jr.

On Tuesday, Tom Izzo, Steven Izzo, Malik Hall and AJ Hoggard all made the trip down to Memphis to watch the Spartans face-off in the Western Conference semifinals.

Michigan State basketball expecting to be without a few players against High Point

The Spartans are going to be without a few key pieces in Wednesday’s game against High Point

In a pregame press conference ahead of Michigan State’s tilt with High Point on Wednesday, head coach Tom Izzo announced that the Spartans are going to be without several different players.

It appears the Spartans will be without Marcus Bingham, Max Christie, Pierre Brooks and Steven Izzo. Davis Smith is also a player that could be in danger of missing the game.

The tenth-ranked Spartans will look to win their eleventh game of the season, while the Panthers of High Point will look to improve to 7-6 on the season.

Julius Marble and Steven Izzo just about lost their minds after an and-one layup from Marcus Bingham Jr.

Michigan State Basketball is currently locked in a fun, intense game against in-state rival No. 2 Michigan, a game they have led for most of the day. MSU has been playing with a ton of energy and excitement in this one, and that was never more evident than in a moment in the second half.

The cameras went to the sideline after Marcus Bingham Jr. made an and-one layup, drawing the third foul on Michigan star Hunter Dickinson. Julius Marble and Steven Izzo were seen, well, losing their minds on the sideline in an awesome moment.
