The LSU Tigers (1-1) visit the Mississippi State Bulldogs (2-0) on Saturday. Kickoff from Davis Wade Stadium is scheduled for noon ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the LSU vs. Mississippi State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

After losing its opener in surprising fashion 45-24 to Florida State, LSU  bounced back against Grambling State with a 72-10 victory. QB Jayden Daniels passed for 269 yards and 5 TDs while RB Logan Diggs had 15 carries for 115 yards and a TD and RB Kaleb Jackson had 11 carries for 62 yards and 2 TDs. Expect more of the same this week against the Bulldogs.

Mississippi State beat Southeastern Louisiana 48-7 in the opener and knocked off Arizona 31-24 in overtime last week. QB Will Rogers went 13 of 17 for 162 yards and 3 TDs. RB Jo’quavious Marks had 24 carries for 123 yards and a TD.

LSU is No. 14 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

LSU at Mississippi State picks and predictions

Prediction

LSU 38, Mississippi State 28

Moneyline

PASS.

While Mississippi State is playing at home, LSU should take this game with ease. But at -375 odds, there is very little profit to be made by backing the Tigers.

Against the spread

LEAN LSU -9.5 (-115).

While the Tigers had a rough start to the season, they had a tune-up game last week against Grambling. Their offense was firing on all cylinders while their defense only allow 10 points. Daniels and company are looking to show why they belong in the Top 10 again and a conference road victory is the 1st step to making that happen.

While the Bulldogs defense forced 5 turnovers last week, they allowed 17 2nd-half points which could prove fatal against the Tiger’s offense. The turnovers will not come as easy this week.

Over/Under

BET OVER 54.5 (-110).

Mississippi State has scored 48 and 31 points respectively in each of its first 2 games while LSU has scored 45 and 72 points. Both teams have showcased they are more than capable of finding the end zone and this game could turn into a shootout real quick. Expect points early and often in this matchup.

LSU vs. Florida State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s LSU vs. Florida State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The No. 5 LSU Tigers (0-0) and No. 8 Florida State Seminoles (0-0) meet in Sunday night’s Camping World Kickoff in Orlando. Kickoff at Camping World Stadium is slated for 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the  LSU vs. Florida State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Louisiana State went 10-4 a year ago, averaging 34.5 points per game and yielding 22.5. The Tigers lost to these Seminoles 24-23 in a season-opening game that included a blocked extra point with no time remaining. Then LSU  went on to win 9 of its next 10 games and eventually represent the SEC West in that league’s title game.

The No. 8 Seminoles went 10-3 in 2022; they averaged 36.1 PPG while allowing 20.6 PPG. All 3 of Florida State’s losses came in a 3-week stretch from Oct. 1-15 and came against ranked foes; the last 2 were in games decided by 1 score.

FSU is 8-2 across 10 all-time meetings against LSU. The ‘Noles and Tigers first met in 1968.

  • Against the spread (ATS): LSU -2.5 (-105) | Florida State +2.5 (-115)

LSU vs. Florida State picks and predictions

Prediction

LSU 27, Florida State 24

Moneyline

FSU was in control of last year’s game 24-10 at the 5-minute mark. The Tigers got back in the game late after struggling to move the ball early. LSU’s 3 touchdown drives were of 82, 75 and 99 yards; all came in the final 16 minutes.

The Tigers are the lean in a revenge game, even one played in the state of Florida. An LSU -120 play would have enough leverage. But PASS on the current tag.

Against the spread

The 247 Talent Composite gives LSU a significant edge in a roster comparison with the Seminoles. Look for the Tigers to be able to run the ball and be adequate in slowing the FSU ground game.

The 2022 ‘Noles would sometimes be too dependent on 3rd-down success; that could well bite them in this battle.

Peg the Bayou Bengals as being the more battle-tested in this matchup.

BACK LSU -2.5 (-105).

Over/Under

Figure this contest leaning toward some run-game clock compression. But the total has dropped a couple points during the week; it hopped under a couple mid-level key numbers (58, 57) in the process.

STEER CLEAR.

SEC Tournament: LSU vs. Vanderbilt odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s LSU vs. Vanderbilt odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The LSU Tigers (14-18) and the Vanderbilt Commodores (18-13) meet Thursday in the 2nd round of the SEC Tournament. Tip-off from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville is set for 8 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the LSU vs. Vanderbilt odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The 14th-seeded Tigers took down the 11th-seeded Georgia Bulldogs 72-67 Wednesday in the 1st round, covering as 3-point favorites despite being the lower seed. Vanderbilt is coming off a 1st-round bye.

LSU beat Vanderbilt in their only meeting of the season 84-77 on Feb. 22 as 2.5-point underdogs. That win was 1 of only 2 conference wins by the Tigers on the season.

Vanderbilt has a 17-14 ATS record and is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall. LSU has a 11-20-1 ATS record and is 4-6 ATS over their last 10 games.

LSU vs. Vanderbilt picks and predictions

Prediction

Vanderbilt 75, LSU 70

Moneyline

AVOID.

Vanderbilt should be able to win this game despite suffering a loss to the Tigers earlier in the season. LSU was terrible in conference games this year and there is no reason to believe that will change in this game. The risk in this bet is not quite worth the reward so I would still avoid.

Against the spread

BET VANDERBILT -4.5 (-110).

The Commodores are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 neutral site games and 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall. They are also 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a win and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 following an ATS win.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 142.5 (-105).

The Over for the Tigers is 5-1 in their last 6 overall and 13-3 in their last 16 vs. a team with a straight up winning record. The Under for LSU is 4-0 in their last 4 neutral site games but with this being in Nashville it is basically a home game for the Commodores.

LSU at Arkansas odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s LSU at Arkansas odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The LSU Tigers (12-7, 1-6 SEC) square off against the Arkansas Razorbacks (13-6, 2-5) Tuesday at Bud Walton Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the LSU vs. Arkansas odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The Tigers were blown out 77-56 on Saturday by then-No. 9 Tennessee and were unable to cover as 11-point underdogs at home. LSU is currently on a 6-game losing skid and all 6 of those losses came against SEC opponents.

The Razorbacks took down Ole Miss 69-57 on Saturday and covered as 9.5-point favorites at home. Arkansas snapped a 4-game losing skid with the win.

LSU at Arkansas picks and predictions

Prediction

Arkansas 74, LSU 60

Moneyline

PASS.

Taking the Razorbacks (-550) straight up isn’t advised at the current odds due to the forgettable return you’ll receive if they win.

Against the spread

ARKANSAS -12.5 (-110) is where I’m leaning in this contest with how these teams have performed lately. The Razorbacks have 4 players who are double-digit scorers compared to the Tigers having only 2 double-digit scorers to rely on.

LSU is 0-8 ATS in its last 8 games following a loss and 0-5 ATS in its last 5 games overall. Meanwhile, Arkansas is 6-3-1 ATS this season when favored by 9.5 points or more.

Over/Under

UNDER 138.5 (-105) is an enticing bet at the current odds despite that Arkansas has a number of players it can lean on for scoring. LSU is averaging only 67.9 points per game while Arkansas is giving up 66.3 points per game.

The Razorbacks are 5-0 to the Under in their last 5 games following an ATS win and 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 home games.

Tennessee at LSU odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Tennessee at LSU odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 9 Tennessee Volunteers (15-3, 5-1 SEC) battle the LSU Tigers (12-6, 1-5) Saturday. Tip from Pete Maravich Assembly Center is set for 4 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Tennessee vs. LSU odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

The Vols are coming into this game following a 70-59 win over Mississippi State Tuesday. Tennessee covered as a 5-point road favorite and is 3-2 against the spread (ATS) over its last 5 games, including its last 2 road matches. The Vols are No. 1 in the nation in opponents’ field goal percentage (33.6%).

LSU lost to Auburn 67-49 Wednesday. It failed to cover as a 4-point home underdog and is 7-11 ATS on the season after failing to cover 4 straight games. The Tigers rank T-118th in opponents’ points per game (67.1).

Tennessee at LSU picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 74, LSU 59

Moneyline

PASS.

The Volunteers (-650) are favorites and rightfully so, but there is no value in wagering 6 1/2 times your potential return.

Against the spread

LEAN TENNESSEE -10.5 (-115).

LSU is in a perfect fade spot. It has failed to cover 4 straight games and has been blown out in 2 straight. The Tigers may have a strong home record, but they have struggled mightily in conference play. Despite being 9-2 straight up at home they are only 2-9 ATS there.

LSU is 2-4 ATS in SEC play while Tennessee is 3-3 ATS. The Vols are also 10-8 ATS overall this season and have covered 3 of their last 5 and their last 2 road matches.

Over/Under

BET OVER 131.5 (-105).

Tennessee is 4-1 O/U in its last 5 and has scored at least 70 points in 4 of its last 5 games and at least 80 in 2 of them. It should be able to push the pace against an LSU defense that ranks 167th in opponents’ field goal percentage (42.9%). LSU has gone Over in 2 of its last 5.

Given how hot the Vols’ offense has been as of late and this total being on the lower end, back the OVER 131.5 (-105).

LSU at Alabama odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s LSU at Alabama odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The LSU Tigers (12-4, 1-3 SEC) face off against the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide (14-2, 4-0) on Saturday. Tip from Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa, Ala., is scheduled for 4 p.m. (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the LSU vs. Alabama odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

LSU dropped a 3rd straight game when it fell 67-56 to Florida on Tuesday, failing to cover as a 3-point home underdog. The Tigers are 2-5 against the spread (ATS) across their 7 games and are 7-9 ATS this season. Their strength is their defense, ranking 8th in the country in opponents’ 3-point percentage (27.5%).

Alabama took down Arkansas 84-69 on Wednesday, covering as a 1.5-point road underdog. It is now on a 5-game win streak, going 4-1 ATS in that span. The Crimson Tide are 9-6-1 ATS this season. Their defense is their strong point as well, ranking 1st in the nation in defensive rebounds per game (32.38), ranking 9th in the nation for opponents’ 3-point percentage (27.5%), and ranking 12th in the nation for opponents’ field goal percentage (38.04%).

LSU at Alabama picks and predictions

Prediction

Alabama 83, LSU 69

Moneyline

PASS.

The moneyline play is far too risky to play on Alabama (-1200).

Against the spread

PASS.

Although this game certainly has the potential to be a big blowout, but despite that Alabama is playing on its home court where it is 8-0 against an LSU team that is 0-2 on the road, 14.5 points are too many to comfortably make a suggestion.

The road team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these teams while the favorite is 20-8-1 ATS in their last 29 meetings.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 146.5 (-105).

Although Alabama loves to push the pace of games, ranking in the top 15 in points per game, its defense ranks in the top 15 in opponent field goal percentage and opponent 3-point percentage while LSU’s offense ranks lower than 200th for points per game.

The Under has hit 4 times in LSU’s last 6 games following an ATS loss and 4 times in its last 5 games against a team with a winning record.

LSU at Kentucky odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s LSU at Kentucky odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The LSU Tigers (12-1, 1-0 SEC) meet the No. 25 Kentucky Wildcats (9-4, 0-1) Tuesday at Rupp Arena in Lexington. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the LSU vs. Kentucky odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

The Tigers picked up a signature 60-57 win over Arkansas at Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge last time out Wednesday. After playing a little bit of a soft non-conference schedule, it was uncertain how LSU would fare. It passed the big first test with flying colors.

The Wildcats suffered a stunning 89-75 loss at Mizzou Wednesday, but they bounced back with an 86-63 rout of rival Louisville at Rupp Saturday. Kentucky pushed as 23-point favorites in that victory and is now 0-6-1 ATS across the past 7 games overall.

LSU at Kentucky picks and predictions

Prediction

Kentucky 69, LSU 66

Moneyline

Kentucky (-475) is probably the right side here, but there is no way you can risk nearly 5 times your potential return on the home team.

PASS.

Against the spread

LSU +9.5 (-115) is a solid play, as it should be able to keep this game within single digits. The Tigers are 5-1 ATS in the past 6 games on the road while going 4-1 ATS in the past 5 against teams with a winning record.

Kentucky has struggled against the number, going 0-6-1 ATS in the past 7 games overall and 0-5-1 ATS in the past 6 games at Rupp. It has also failed to cover in each of the past 5 against teams with a winning record.

Over/Under

UNDER 138.5 (-115) is worth a look.

The Under has connected at a 4-1-1 clip in the past 6 games overall for the Tigers while going 4-1 in the past 5 against teams with a winning record.

The Under is also 5-2 in the past 7 games at home for the Wildcats while hitting at a 4-1 clip in the previous 5 after a straight-up win last time out.

Citrus Bowl: Purdue vs. LSU odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Purdue vs. LSU Citrus Bowl odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Purdue Boilermakers (8-5) meet the No. 15 LSU Tigers (9-4) Monday in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. ET (ABC). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Purdue vs. LSU odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Rankings courtesy of AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY sports

Both teams come into this game after tough losses in its conference championship games. Purdue, after surprisingly winning the Big Ten West,  was manhandled 43-22 by No. 2 Michigan while LSU was crushed 50-30 by No. 1 Georgia.

Because of these losses and the lack of an elite bowl game, both teams are dealing with opt outs of players entering the NFL Draft.

Most significantly for LSU will be WR Kayshon Boutte, who flip-flopped before pulling out.

Purdue will be dealing with the defection of its coach Jeff Brohm, who returned home to Louisville. His brother Brian Brohm will leadPurdue, which also lost QB Aidan O’Connell and star WR Charlie Jones, who finished the season with 110 receptions for 1,361 yards and 12 TD. With no run game to mention, the opt outs of O’Connell and Jones will be a major issue for the Boilermakers.

Purdue vs. LSU picks and predictions

Prediction

LSU 37, Purdue 28

Moneyline

PASS.

LSU at -750 is not worth making a wager on unless you are making a big parlay. Even then, it is a bit too high to be worth it. Purdue at +525 against a more talented SEC team is also not worth the risk. I would need far higher odds to bet on Purdue in this game. Just stay away.

Against the spread

BET PURDUE +15.5 (-110).

We have seen in games which are not a playoff game that SEC teams usually phone it in. Much like the 30-3 loss by Florida in the Las Vegas Bowl this season, a chance to make a bowl does not mean much. But it still does mean something to the Purdue players who are playing. They will play hard and although it will not be enough to win, they will score enough to make this game closer then the 15.5 spread being offered up. Purdue +15.5 (-110) is the right way to play this game.

Over/Under

BET OVER 55.5 (-113).

Starters or not, players in bowl games like to score when possible.

Arkansas and Kansas went to a 55-53 triple overtime decision while an entirely undermanned Pitt team beat UCLA 37-35 and Notre Dame won 45-38 without its starting QB or elite TE. Points can be had in bowl games and the points should be flowing in this one. Take Over 55.5 (-113) as my favorite play.

Arkansas at LSU odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Arkansas at LSU odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 7 Arkansas Razorbacks (11-1) travel to Baton Rouge to take on the LSU Tigers (11-1) Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Arkansas at LSU odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll

Arkansas comes out of the holiday break and pens the SEC season with its 1st road game. While being 4-1 away from Bud Walton Arena, all those tilts were at neutral sites. This will be the first test of coach Eric Musselman’s team in a true road environment.

LSU comes into this game with the same 11-1 record but without the hype and fanfare of the Razorbacks. Despite the record, LSU has failed to crack the top 25 this season. A win in this game, and the Tigers could find themselves doing just that next week.

Arkansas at LSU odds

  • Moneyline (ML): Arkansas -190 (bet $190 to win $100) | LSU +145 (bet $100 to win $145)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Arkansas -4.5 (-105) | LSU +4.5 (-115)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 143.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Villanova at UConn picks and predictions

Prediction

Arkansas 72, LSU 65

Moneyline

PASS.

The number is too high for the 1st true road game for the Razorbacks. If you want to add this into a parlay it is a solid addition. But I would refrain from betting it straight.

Against the spread

BET ARKANSAS -4.5 (-105).

Both teams have had strong starts to the season and as the SEC portion of the schedule begins, the true abilities of both will be found out.

Arkansas has been a bit more battle tested so far, and Musselman has the Hogs ready to go in this game. LSU is still plagued by ex-coach Will Wade issues and the lack of depth will start to creep into play during conference play. I like Arkansas -4.5 (-105).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 143.5 (-110).

Neither of these teams play games at a high score. Arkansas is 4-8 to the Over this season while LSU is 4-7-1. I do not see this game getting out of hand so I will take Under 143.5 (-110) as my favorite play.
