LSU lost to Auburn 67-49 Wednesday. It failed to cover as a 4-point home underdog and is 7-11 ATS on the season after failing to cover 4 straight games. The Tigers rank T-118th in opponents’ points per game (67.1).

Tennessee at LSU picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 74, LSU 59

Moneyline

PASS.

The Volunteers (-650) are favorites and rightfully so, but there is no value in wagering 6 1/2 times your potential return.

Against the spread

LEAN TENNESSEE -10.5 (-115).

LSU is in a perfect fade spot. It has failed to cover 4 straight games and has been blown out in 2 straight. The Tigers may have a strong home record, but they have struggled mightily in conference play. Despite being 9-2 straight up at home they are only 2-9 ATS there.

LSU is 2-4 ATS in SEC play while Tennessee is 3-3 ATS. The Vols are also 10-8 ATS overall this season and have covered 3 of their last 5 and their last 2 road matches.

Over/Under

BET OVER 131.5 (-105).

Tennessee is 4-1 O/U in its last 5 and has scored at least 70 points in 4 of its last 5 games and at least 80 in 2 of them. It should be able to push the pace against an LSU defense that ranks 167th in opponents’ field goal percentage (42.9%). LSU has gone Over in 2 of its last 5.

Given how hot the Vols’ offense has been as of late and this total being on the lower end, back the OVER 131.5 (-105).

Tennessee at LSU odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Tennessee at LSU odds and lines, with NCAA expert picks and predictions.

The Tennessee Volunteers (4-0, 1-0 SEC) and LSU Tigers (4-1, 2-0) renew acquaintances Saturday in Baton Rouge. Kickoff in the SEC crossover clash at Tiger Stadium is scheduled for noon ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Tennessee vs. LSU odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Tennessee leads the nation in total offense with an average of 559.3 yards per game. The Volunteers had 576 total yards in their last game (Sept. 24 vs. Florida) and then had a bye in Week 5. The Vols rank 6th in the nation with an 86.4% touchdown conversion rate in the red zone.

LSU is coming off a 21-17 win at Auburn last Saturday, and the Tigers have won 4 straight games since losing 23-22 vs. Florida State Sept. 4. LSU won at Auburn despite logging just 270 total yards. The Tigers are 3rd in the SEC  with 293.8 yards allowed per contest.

Tennessee is No. 8 in the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Tennessee at LSU picks and predictions

Prediction

LSU 31, Tennessee 27

Moneyline

Peg Tennessee’s defense as being leakier than what some surface stats indicate, and it’s been the beneficiary of a 28.3% rate on opponent 3rd-down conversions. Some regression there with a defense struggling against the pass opens up the Volunteers to be vulnerable in preventing points.

UT had a Sept. 10 win over Pittsburgh where the Vols had 3 short-field scores. In the team’s win over Florida, the Gators torched Tennessee for several long drives.

Now we add in a key injury. Senior WR Cedric Tillman — who had 15 catches over Weeks 1 and 2 — is not expected back until late October, and he is one of QB Hendon Hooker‘s favorite targets. Tillman hauled in 12 TD catches in a 1,000-yard season in 2021.

With a youthful LSU team being a few hundred snaps older than they were at the season’s open, the Tigers figure to be ready to be competitive in this one.

Tennessee’s red-zone offense against Louisiana State’s red-zone defense figures as a key strength-on-strength match-up.

TAKE LSU (+120).

Against the spread

LINE WATCH: pass on the LSU -2.5 action, but back the Tigers if the line moves to a full 3 points.

Over/Under

No value in either direction: PASS.

Tennessee at LSU odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Tennessee at LSU odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 18 Tennessee Volunteers (10-3) visit No. 21 LSU Tigers (13-1) Saturday at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center for a 6 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we look at Tennessee vs. LSU odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Coming in off a 5-point win and cover against the Kentucky Wildcats, LSU will get its second straight home game after losing by 15 on the road to the No. 9 Auburn Tigers. The Tigers are 9-0 at home this season.

LSU is led by sophomore Tari Eason and senior Darius Days, both forwards averaging over 14 points per game. As for the Volunteers, they’re 8-0 at home but are just 1-1 on the road.

The Vols have only lost to Villanova, Alabama and Texas Tech, all high-level programs. The Vols are a more experienced side as three of their four minutes leaders are upperclassmen.

Tennessee at LSU odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

LSU 66, Tennessee 63

Money line

BET on LSU (-140).

The Tigers have been rock solid at home. They welcomed the top-25 Wildcats earlier this week and remained perfect at home with a 5-point win.

Couple that home-court advantage with the fact that LSU holds opponents to the lowest field goal percentage in college basketball, and they should be able to keep pace with the Vols.

Despite having 10 wins, the Vols haven’t played up to par with high-level opponents. They’re 1-3 against teams that were top-25 opponents. On the road against a top-25 opponent, LSU is the preferred side here.

Against the spread

PASS on the spread. Although it’s just 2.5 points, I expect a highly competitive matchup and feel comfortable just taking LSU outright.

Over/Under

BET on the UNDER 136.5 (-110).

While we talked about LSU’s elite defense, their two key scorers are forwards. Tennessee will have the size and experience to take them on as two of the Vols top-four minutes leaders are upperclassmen forwards. The Vols have also held opponents to under 40% from the field this season.
