Baltimore Ravens CB Khalil Dorsey suffered a shoulder injury in Week 9, heading to injured reserve. The Ravens signed Tramon Williams
The Baltimore Ravens have been bit hard by the injury bug at cornerback this season. In Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore once again saw a cornerback go down with an injury, causing yet another change at the position heading into Week 10’s tilt.
Khalil Dorsey exited Sunday’s game with a dislocated shoulder, finding his way to injured reserve on Tuesday. Dorsey was initially on the practice squad but was elevated to the Ravens’ 53-man roster in October after injuries thinned out the depth chart. Dorsey was active for six games this season but only saw four snaps on defense.
To fill Dorsey’s spot on Baltimore’s 53-man roster, the Ravens turned to cornerback Tramon Williams. Despite being 37 years old, Williams has been highly effective in recent years and, most importantly, he’s been healthy. Over the last two seasons, Williams has been active for all 32 games, playing all over the secondary for the Green Bay Packers.
Last season, Williams had two interceptions, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries. Williams was targeted 57 times, allowing just 33 completions (57.9%) for 437 yards, and two touchdowns. Quarterbacks had a 79.3 passer rating when throwing at Williams last year.
With the Ravens, Williams’ versatility and experience will come in handy. But in reality, Baltimore simply needs more warm bodies at the position just to field a full team each week. Dorsey makes the fourth cornerback on injured reserve for the Ravens this season, joining Tavon Young, Anthony Averett, and Iman Marshall on the list.
