Early signing period: Jesse Perry signs with Tennessee football

The 2023 early signing period is taking place Wednesday-Friday for Tennessee’s 2024 recruiting signing class.

The 2023 early signing period is Josh Heupel’s third as Tennessee’s head coach. He was hired as the Vols’ head coach in Jan. 2021.

Tennessee’s 2023 recruiting class ranked No. 10 nationally (247Sports Composite). The Vols’ first recruiting class under Heupel in 2022 ranked No. 17 nationally (247Sports Composite).

Jesse Perry signed with the Vols on Wednesday during the early signing period.

Top-five in-state offensive tackle commits to Tennessee

Top-five in-state offensive tackle Jesse Perry announces commitment to Tennessee.

Three-star offensive tackle Jesse Perry announced his commitment to Tennessee on Friday.

Perry committed to the Vols over North Carolina, Missouri, Memphis, Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

The 6-foot-6, 275-pound offensive tackle is from Middle Tennessee Christian School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Perry is the No. 886 overall prospect in the class of 2024. He ranks as the No. 65 offensive tackle and No. 32 player in Tennessee, according to the On3 industry rankings.

He earned first-team Division II-A All-State and first-team Division II-A All-Region honors last season.

Perry is the seventh commitment in the class of 2024 for the Vols. With Perry’s commitment, the Vols have landed four commitments from in-state prospects, including Kaleb Beasley, Marcus Goree and Carson Gentle.

The Vols have landed two commitments on Friday. 2025 four-star cornerback Shamar Arnoux announced his commitment earlier in the day.

Tennessee football recruiting: A look at the Vols’ notable upcoming March visits

The recruiting dead period ended Feb. 28 and the Volunteers have been actively hosting top recruits for on-campus visits throughout March.

Tennessee currently has five 2024 commitments, headlined by four-stars Jonathan Echols (athlete), JJ Harrell (wide receiver) and Kaleb Beasley (cornerback).

During March, Tennessee hosted four-star linebacker D’Angelo Barber, three-star running back Peyton Lewis, five-star edge rusher Ari Watford and four-star cornerback Jontae Gilbert.

The Vols’ 2024 recruiting class currently ranks No. 9 nationally and No. 5 in the Southeastern Conference. Tennessee’s 2024 class is on pace to be the highest-ranked for the Vols since 2015.
