Report: Ohio State will host transfer linebacker this week

A very interesting development that hopefully goes the Buckeyes way #GoBucks

According to a report by 247Sports’ Bill Kurelic, [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] will host former Northwestern linebacker [autotag]Nigel Glover[/autotag] for an official visit.

Glover entered the portal shortly after the Northwestern fiasco regarding hazing which led to the firing of head coach Pat Fitzgerald. As a 2023 recruit from Northmont High School in Ohio, the 6-foot, 3-inch, 210-pound linebacker did not receive an Ohio State offer. He was ranked as a 4-star, the 30th at his position, and 335th overall prospect in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

He held multiple other offers from Big Ten programs before settling on Northwestern. I believed that the Buckeyes would go after a different Wildcat linebacker, [autotag]Justin Cryer[/autotag], but he recently committed to Florida State.

With the miss of California linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa and [autotag]Edwin Spillman[/autotag], it was pretty obvious that the coaching staff would turn their focus to the portal.

Hopefully Glover’s visit to Ohio State and the opportunity to see the field early results in a BOOM for the Buckeyes. He is also planning on visiting Kentucky, Michigan, and Michigan State.

Who does Ohio State turn to next at linebacker for the 2024 recruiting class?

What’s next for the Buckeyes and their pursuit of a 2024 linebacker #GoBucks

It was not a good weekend for [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] linebacker recruiting.

Two of their top remaining targets, Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa and [autotag]Edwin Spillman[/autotag] decided to commit elsewhere. Many of the top linebackers in the country have already decided on where they will play their college football, so the Buckeyes have their work cut out for them to find a third for 2024.

The good news is that the cupboard isn’t bare, as there are already commits from Garrett Stover and Peyton Pierce, although Stover could ultimately play safety. It was pretty obvious the coaching staff wanted a third in the class and let’s take a look at who could fill that role for the Buckeyes.

2024 linebacker target will choose between Ohio State and SEC school

Most likely not a BOOM! but still a shot! #GoBucks

The recruiting dominoes are starting to take shape for [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] and plenty of other schools across the country.

With the new recruiting schedule allowing prospects to take official visits during the spring, it has sped up the decision-making process for many players.

One of those is 2024 Tennessee linebacker [autotag]Edwin Spillman[/autotag]. The 6-foot, 1-inch, 215-pound defender took three official visits in the spring, one of them to Ohio State. The 28th-ranked linebacker and 334th player overall on the 247Sports composite is ready to make a decision.

Spillman will choose between Tennessee and Ohio State on July 21 at his high school.

Don’t get your hopes up for a BOOM! however. Spillman’s brother Nate is a freshman wide receiver at Tennessee. Many expect Edwin to select the Vols and join his brother, so this announcement most likely will not go the Buckeyes’ way.
