Notre Dame football: Irish going hard to flip big-time SEC cornerback

The star of Notre Dame’s summer camp a year ago will be back on campus soon despite having a current commitment elsewhere.

Perhaps the best game of the 2022 college football season was Tennessee‘s epic last-second victory over Alabama. Less than a week afterward, the Volunteers received a commitment from cornerback [autotag]Kaleb Beasley[/autotag] in the 2024 recruiting cycle. 247Sports ranks Beasley as the 114th-best player in the 2024 cycle nationally and the best player from Tennessee.

Despite the commitment, Beasley has been interested in seeing what else is out there. According to many, he was the star of the show at Notre Dame’s summer camp last year, and the Irish staff has aggressively tried to get him to reconsider his current commitment.

According to a report from 247Sports, Notre Dame is one of three campuses Beasley plans to visit in the not-so-distant future. The report stated Beasley will again visit Tennessee on March 25 before checking out Auburn and finally seeing Notre Dame again on April 1.

As for the Irish, they have a pair of cornerback commitments in the 2024 recruiting class. However, they’ve gone after Beasley to the degree that Marcus Freeman recently flew to Nashville and stopped by his basketball game.

There is certainly no guarantee a flip is coming and even if it does it’s no certainty it’d be to Notre Dame. This is, however, another case of Notre Dame going to the deep end of the recruiting pool and looking to make a major splash.

Notre Dame football: Biggest remaining recruiting targets for 2024

Want a great class and not just a good one for Notre Dame? Land the majority of these six realistic remaining targets.

Notre Dame has been on a hot streak of landing commitments for their 2024 recruiting class of late, now sitting at a 18-player class.  That is one of the highest numbers nationally but if you follow Notre Dame recruiting you know it’s all about building it up early and holding on to close things out.

That’s essentially to say, you won’t see Notre Dame climb the team rankings on national signing day usually.  They might add a player or two late but the majority of their commitments come long before late-December.

So with 18 players committed and assuming all 18 remain that way (not fair to expect but how else do we do this exercise?) then who are the key remaining targets for Notre Dame in 2024?

Landing the majority of these six dream recruits would take Notre Dame’s class from how it stands now as pretty good, to instead being great.

4-star Tennessee cornerback commit Kaleb Beasley sets official visit with Oklahoma

Four-star cornerback and Tennessee commit Kaleb Beasley has an official visit scheduled with the Oklahoma Sooners.

This is the time of year when the Oklahoma Sooners begin picking up some serious steam on the recruiting trail. As we saw a year ago, it’s the summer months when Brent Venables and his staff will make the most headway.

Now that the calendar has turned to June, it’s officially official visit season, and the Sooners have quite the crew of prospects heading to Norman in the next few weeks.

On June 9-11, Oklahoma will be hosting four-star cornerback Kaleb Beasley. Beasley, who’s a top 200 prospect in the [autotag]2024 recruiting class[/autotag], has been committed to the Tennessee Volunteers since October of 2022.

Beasley is the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee according to the On3 Industry ranking and 247Sports. He’s also a top 25 cornerback in the class.

The Oklahoma Sooners have done remarkable work on the recruiting trail over the last couple of cycles in an effort to rebuild their secondary. Oklahoma’s signed nine blue-chip prospects over the last two cycles.

In the 2024 recruiting cycle, Oklahoma has already earned commitments from four-star defensive back prospects Jaydan Hardy and Jeremiah Newcombe.

Getting the opportunity to host one of the best cornerback prospects in the class is another sign of the remarkable work Jay Valai, Brandon Hall, Brent Venables, and Ted Roof have done on the recruiting trail.

Now it’s about Oklahoma putting their best foot forward with Beasley and the other blue-chip prospects they’ll host over the next few months.
