Every offensive lineman the Oklahoma Sooners have offered in the 2024 recruiting cycle

Which offensive linemen have the Oklahoma Sooners targeted thus far in the 2024 recruiting cycle?

The Oklahoma Sooners have created a reputation for developing NFL-caliber offensive linemen thanks to the work of offensive line coach [autotag]Bill Bedenbaugh[/autotag]. [autotag]

Creed Humphrey[/autotag] and [autotag]Orlando Brown[/autotag] are prime examples of the work that is done at OU. Humphrey is arguably the best center in the game just two years into his collegiate career.

Even prior to Bedenbaugh’s arrival in Norman, the Sooners developed two of the best offensive linemen in the NFL today, [autotag]Trent Williams[/autotag] and [autotag]Lane Johnson[/autotag]. The offensive tackles have starred in the league for much of the last decade and continue to do fantastic work at their tackle positions.

Oklahoma’s latest great offensive line talent is on his way to the NFL and has a chance to be a first-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft. Anton Harrison was a tremendous asset for the Oklahoma Sooners offense. He was as adept in run blocking as he was as a pass-blocker, and he takes great athleticism to Sundays.

Oklahoma’s 2023 signing class featured four-star [autotag]Cayden Green[/autotag], who was one of the best interior offensive line prospects in the country at the high school level. Oklahoma is hoping to hit home runs with late-rising offensive line signees [autotag]Joshua Bates[/autotag], [autotag]Heath Ozaeta[/autotag] and [autotag]Logan Howland[/autotag]. All four of their signees to the 2023 class are athletic and physical players who will be difference-makers on Saturdays.

With the 2023 class nearly wrapped up with national signing day just a few weeks away, the Oklahoma Sooners turn their attention to a talented 2024 offensive line class. Here’s who they’ve offered thus far in the [autotag]2024 recruiting cycle[/autotag], according to 247Sports.

Oklahoma Sooners make top 9 for 2024 4-star OT Josiah Thompson

Oklahoma included in the top 9 for 2024 top 100 prospect Josiah Thompson out of South Carolina.

The Oklahoma Sooners have been one of the better recruiting schools over the last year, the first year under [autotag]Brent Venables[/autotag].

They closed out the 2022 class No. 8 in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings and look to be headed for a strong finish in the 2023 cycle. Looking ahead to 2024, there’s little doubt that Venables and his crew can continue the recruiting momentum.

They’ve gained some steam in recent weeks as 2024 prospects begin to narrow their recruitment. Recently, the Sooners made the top nine for South Carolina prospect Josiah Thompson.

In addition to the Sooners, Thompson included Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, South Carolina, and Tennessee in his top nine.

Thompson is a top 100 prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, ranking inside the top 100 in the 247Sports composite and the On3 consensus at the position.

One of the top players in South Carolina, Thompson is currently projected to stay home and play for the [autotag]Shane Beamer[/autotag] and the Gamecocks. The Sooners have been active in the southeast since Brent Venables’ arrival in Norman. Earning a commitment from one of the region’s best prospects would be a huge pull for Venables and offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh.

Florida cracks top 9 for this 2024 blue-chip offensive tackle

Four-star offensive tackle Josiah Thompson is one of the top players at his position in the class of 2024, and he just named Florida as one of his top schools.

The Florida Gators made the most recent cut in the recruiting race for four-star Dillon (South Carolina) offensive tackle [autotag]Josiah Thompson[/autotag] Thursday.

Thompson took to Twitter to make the announcement and narrowed things down to Florida, Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Tennessee. With over a year left in the 2024 cycle, it’s anyone’s game, but the Gamecocks do have a home-state advantage. Four South Carolina insiders have submitted crystal balls with medium to high confidence in favor of the Gamecocks.

The Gators offered Thompson back in August but have yet to get him on campus. South Carolina has already hosted him around 7-10 times, according to 247Sports and On3, and Clemson has brought him in three times.

Florida certainly has a lot of work to do, but there seems to be some interest in playing in the SEC for Thompson. There’s an opportunity to play early in Gainesville, so that could draw him in. Blocking for five-star quarterback DJ Lagway is also an enticing aspect of Florida’s potential recruiting pitch.

The 247Sports composite ranks No. 58 overall in the class of 2024 and No. 5 among offensive tackles. The site’s individual rankings have him a bit higher at No. 43 and No. 2, respectively, and he’s the top-ranked player in the state of South Carolina.
