Alabama lands commitment from 2024 4-Star WR Rico Scott

Alabama received a commitment on Sunday morning from 2024 four-star wide receiver Rico Scott.

Wide receiver Rico Scott of the 2024 class announced his commitment to Alabama on Sunday morning. This news comes just after Scott took an unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa over the weekend.

Scott plays for Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. As a junior, Scott hauled in 66 receptions for 1,184 yards and 18 touchdowns. On Scott’s junior highlight tape, he shows his ability to blow by defenders by using his speed and athleticism.

Scott chose the Crimson Tide over other programs like Penn State, Georgia, and Colorado. Interestingly enough, he took seven unofficial visits to Happy Valley. Scott took just two unofficial visits to Alabama. That is all the Pennsylvania native needed to realize that Alabama was the school for him.

Scott will join a recruiting class that previously had four commits. Wide receiver Perry Thompson, cornerback Jaylen Mbakwe, quarterback Julian Sayin, and edge rusher Sterling Dixon are set to accompany Scott in Tuscaloosa next fall.

Penn State in top six for 2024 Pennsylvania WR

Penn State favored to land this 2024 in-state wide receiver

With spring practices and the NFL draft season starting to heat up, football is starting to come back into focus.

While recruiting is pretty much an all-year thing at this point, this is normally a time when many of the upcoming high school seniors start trimming their list of potential schools. Prospects across the country start putting their focus on the best fits for them and start figuring out where they want to play their college career.

On March 23, wide receiver [autotag]Rico Scott[/autotag] announced that Penn State is included in his top six schools. Scott is hovering the line between a four-star and three-star prospect depending on which recruiting service is used. On3’s industry rank has him as a three-star while 247Sports has him listed as a four-star.

Regardless, it would be important for Penn State to get a commitment from Scott. He’s a Pennsylvania prospect who plays his high school football at Bishop McDevitt in Harrisburg. James Franklin has talked about how crucial it is to dominate the state on the recruiting trail.

The other schools in his top six include Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Colorado.

While there are some big-name programs on the list, On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine thinks Scott will be playing in State College on Saturdays.

It currently gives Penn State a 59.4% chance of landing the 6’0″ 190-pound prospect. Texas A&M has the second-best odds at 22.7%.

He told Hayes Fawcett of On3, “The coaches make it feel like home every time I visit. I have a great relationship with Coach Franklin and it means something to me to be able to represent where you are from. I love the things coach Haggans preaches.”

We’ll see if Scott stays home and Penn State continues to dominate the state.

2024 4-Star WR Rico Scott released his Top 6 program list on Thursday, and low and behold, the Aggies are in clear contention for the rising star

Texas A&M is preparing for a major recruiting push this spring, leading into the summer for A&M’s annual recruiting pool party in late July. Already four players to the 2024 class, a lot of work is left to be done, and on Thursday, one priority recruit, 4-star wide receiver Rico Scott released his Top 6 school list, made up of Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Tennessee, Penn State, and last but not least, Texas A&M.

Under Head coach Jimbo Fisher, the Aggies have recruited well at the wide receiver postion in the last two cycles, most notably landing current starters Evan Stewart and Moose Muhammad III, Fisher continued to add playmakers in the 2023 class including 4-star wide receivers Micah Tease and Raymond Cottrell.

Rico Scott, hailing from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania is one of the most intriguing wide receiver prospects in the 2024 cycle, noted as the best route runner in the class with the on-field production to back it up, recording 1,184 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns during his 2022 junior season at Bishop McDevitt High School.
