Patriots Twitter reacts to Bill Belichick’s heartfelt thank you letter

Bill Belichick will always be a Patriot

Break-ups are never easy, and they’re even worse when they come after six Super Bowl wins and 24 years of being tied at the hip. Such has been the case for former head coach Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots.

The two sides parted ways after finishing the 2023 season with a 4-13 record and failing to make the postseason for a second straight year. Within a blink of an eye, the mighty Patriots, who were once perennial contenders, were somehow reduced to being one of the worst teams in the NFL.

Yet, the present doesn’t change the past success for a franchise that became the greatest dynasty in NFL history. On Sunday, coach Bill Belichick penned a thank you letter in the Boston Globe to Patriots fans.

Some Patriots fans have been screaming for change for years. The truth is the team hasn’t been the same since Tom Brady took his talents down south to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

But that doesn’t mean fans aren’t appreciative of Belichick for so many great memories during a near 20-year run of success. Here’s what fans were saying on social media in response to Belichick’s thank you letter:

Twitter reaction: Chiefs being called ‘new Patriots’ after win over Bills

Some on social media are calling the Chiefs the NFL’s new-age Patriots team

The Kansas City Chiefs knocked off the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round of the NFL Playoffs on Sunday to advance to their sixth consecutive AFC Championship Game.

That monumental feat has elicited comparisons between the Chiefs and the old New England Patriots dynasty, which spanned nearly two decades. During the Patriots’ legendary run, they were the most hated team in the NFL.

Such has been the case for the Chiefs as they’ve continued to find consistent success. They are clearly the new dominant force in the NFL. They’ve won two of the last four Super Bowls and have completely terrorized the AFC West division for years.

Meanwhile, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce continue to break records in a league hell-bent on trying to stop them.

To some, the Chiefs are the new Patriots, and Mahomes and Kelce are the new Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. Here’s what fans were saying on social media after Sunday night’s game:

Twitter reacts as Rutgers basketball continues its dominance over Indiana

Twitter reacts to Rutgers basketball’s big win over Indiana.

Rutgers basketball got a much-needed and impressive result on Tuesday night with a 66-57 win over Indiana. The Big Ten basketball win helps stabilize a Rutgers season that has been choppy, to say the least.

With the win, Rutgers is now 9-6 (1-2 Big Ten). Indiana falls to 11-5 (3-2 Big Ten).

It wasn’t a pretty night for Rutgers, especially shooting the ball where the Scarlet Knights were just 32.3 percent from the floor. But Rutgers was strong on the boards, outrebounding Indiana 51-40 and held a 19-8 advantage on the offensive glass.

Rutgers was led in scoring by Mawot Mag’s 13 points. Cliff Omorouyi, one of the top centers in the Big Ten, had 11 rebounds and five blocked shots to key the win.

Sooner Nation reacts to Lincoln Riley, USC’s loss to Notre Dame

Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans were blown out by Notre Dame and here’s how Sooner Nation reacted on Social Media.

The USC Trojans have been playing with fire the last couple of weeks in wins over Colorado and Arizona. But Lincoln Riley and the Trojans were  burned in their prime-time matchup with Notre Dame.

It was only a matter of time.

USC’s defense had struggled at different points this season. In this one, not only did the defense struggle, but the Trojans’ offense and special teams units struggled as well. The Trojans lost 48-20 in South Bend.

It’s been nearly two years since Lincoln Riley abruptly left the University of Oklahoma just hours after the Sooners lost to Oklahoma State. Since then, there’s been a great deal of talk about the direction of the two programs.

After the Oklahoma Sooners walked out of the Cotton Bowl with a gritty, hard-nosed win over their biggest rival, and USC suffered a beat down at the hands of the Irish, it’s clear this has worked out very well for the Oklahoma Sooners.

Sooner Nation was tuned into the big-time matchup, and here’s how the fan base reacted on social media to Lincoln Riley and USC’s loss to the Fighting Irish.

Social Media Reacts: Gavin Freeman electrifies with punt return for a touchdown

Gavin Freeman electrified social media with his 82-yard punt return for a touchdown to put Oklahoma up 14-0.

The Oklahoma Sooners got off to a quick start on their first drive, scoring in 1:19 of game time to take a 7-0 lead on Drake Stoops touchdown reception. It didn’t take long for the Sooners to add to the lead after the defense forced a punt.

Gavin Freeman took the punt back on his 18-yard line and darted and dashed through the Red Wolves for an 82-yard punt return touchdown to make it 14-0.

It’s the second year in a row in which the Oklahoma native scored on his first touch of the season. It was the first time the Oklahoma Sooners had return for a touchdown since 2016.

It was a great way to kick start the season early in the first quarter, with Gavin Freeman again showing off his electric ability. Here’s how social media reacted.
