10 defensive linemen for the Eagles to watch at the 2022 Senior Bowl

10 defensive linemen for the #Eagles to watch at the 2022 #SeniorBowl #TheDraftStartsInMOBILE Howie #Roseman Nick #Sirianni

We’re less than 100-days from the start of the 2022 NFL draft and with Philadelphia owning three first-round picks, Howie Roseman will need to increase the normal due diligence done on eligible prospects.

The draft actually starts in Mobile, Alabama, where the start of senior bowl practices will kick off on Tuesday, February 1.

With Roseman and head coach Nick Sirianni both in Mobile for Senior Bowl practices, we’re profiling the position groups for both teams, while also breaking down several players at each group for Philadelphia to watch.

The next group to watch will be the senior bowl defensive linemen.

Green Bay Packers 2022 mock draft 2.0

The Packers are out of the playoffs, and the draft is now about three months away. It’s time to dig into Packers Wire’s second mock draft of the 2022 cycle.

With Saturday night’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the Green Bay Packers are officially locked into the 28th overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft.

The last time the Packers had the 28th overall pick was back in 2012 when they selected USC edge rusher Nick Perry.

It’s 10 years later and edge rusher could be high on the priority list for general manager Brian Gutekunst.

With the NFL draft 94 days away, let’s take a look at my latest mock draft results for the Packers.

28th overall pick: Jermaine Johnson, Edge, FSU

The ACC Defensive Player of the Year finished the 2021 season with 70 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, and 11.5 sacks.

The Georgia transfer finished his collegiate career with 24.5 tackles for loss and 18 sacks.

Johnson checks all the boxes. He gets upfield quickly with an explosive first step and does a great job of converting speed to power.

As a run defender, he’s strong at the point of attack and does a good job of setting the edge. He has a high football IQ and sees the play coming. He has strong hands and has great burst to make plays behind the line of scrimmage.

With Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith likely being cap casualties, the Packers will look to address the edge position early in the upcoming draft. Johnson could step in from day one and play across from Rashan Gary.

60th overall pick: Channing Tindall, LB, Georgia

The Georgia linebacker finished this past season with 67 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and five sacks.

Tindall might be the best run and hit linebacker in this class. He sees the ball and has elite quickness to roam sideline-to-sideline.

If De’Vondre Campbell isn’t re-signed this offseason, the Packers could look to Tindall as his replacement on day two of the draft.

Even if Campbell is re-signed, Tindall could be an excellent No. 2 backer and would help on special team units from day one.

Nine Georgia Bulldogs go in first three rounds of 2022 NFL mock draft

Georgia has NINE guys go in the first three rounds of this mock draft

Georgia set a school record in the 2021 NFL draft when it had nine players selected.

This year, Georgia is looking to shatter that number with potentially as many as 15 players selected.

USA TODAY’s Draft Wire expects Georgia to actually hit last year’s mark by the end of the third round of the 2022 NFL draft.

Well, actually Johnson finished the season with 11.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, 70 total tackles and two pass deflections. The former Georgia linebacker wanted to (and did) strengthen his NFL draft stock at FSU. Johnson saw much more playing time for the Seminoles and proved to be an every down player.the site expected Georgia to have 10 players drafted when it projected outside linebacker Nolan Smith to go No. 91 to the Rams. But Smith has since announced his plans to forgo the 2022 draft and play one more year at UGA.

Here’s Draft Wire’s 2022 three-round NFL mock draft, which includes nine Bulldogs and one former Bulldog.

Former UGA LB named ACC Defensive Player of the Year

Florida State Seminoles defensive end Jermaine Johnson, a former UGA LB, has been named the ACC’s Defensive Player of the Year.

Florida State Seminoles defensive end Jermaine Johnson has been named the ACC’s Defensive Player of the Year. Johnson, a senior transfer from Georgia, was Florida State’s best player in 2021.

Jermaine Johnson finished the season with 11.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, 70 total tackles and two pass deflections. The former Georgia linebacker wanted to (and did) strengthen his NFL draft stock at FSU. Johnson saw much more playing time for the Seminoles and proved to be an every down player.

Jermaine Johnson only recorded 14 total tackles and four sacks for Georgia in 2020. Johnson’s presence is still missed at Georgia. The Dawgs could use an elite pass rusher like Johnson, especially in Adam Anderson’s absence.

The Seminoles finished 5-7, but were much more competitive thanks to the impressive efforts of Johnson.

Jermaine Johnson is projected as a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft.

Despite Johnson’s transfer, the Georgia defense finished the 2021 regular season having allowed seven offensive touchdowns all season. Georgia finished the regular season as the top defense in college football. The Dawgs will face a strong challenge from Alabama in the SEC Championship.

Several UGA transfers shine in CFB Week 1

The Georgia Bulldogs gained and lost a bunch of talent via the transfer portal. Several UGA transfers played well for their new teams.

The Georgia Bulldogs gained and lost a bunch of talent via the NCAA transfer portal this offseason. The transfer portal saw record numbers of activity.

Georgia gained key players Arik Gilbert, Tykee Smith and Derion Kendrick. At the same time, UGA lost Demetris Robertson, Jermaine Johnson, Tyrique Stevenson and many more.

It will be interesting to see if Georgia’s gains from the transfer portal outweigh their loses at the end of the 2021 college football season.

What former Georgia Bulldogs made the biggest impact for their new teams?

Notre Dame know your foe, game 1: Florida State Seminoles

What is your biggest concern about tonight?

Gameday is finally here, after watching college football for three nights, it’s finally Notre Dame’s turn to hit the field. The nations eyes will be on this game, it’s the only one being played tonight and with many having Monday off due to the holiday weekend, it’s what people will be watching. Season openers are tough, just ask North Carolina and LSU, so tonight’s contest won’t be easy. Here are five Florida State Seminoles that could give the Irish issues this evening.

Georgia football offseason transfer tracker

Where are Georgia Bulldogs transferring to? Who is transferring to play football at the University of Georgia?

The Georgia Bulldogs lose and gain a significant amount of talent each offseason via the transfer portal. The transfer portal has been very active this offseason.

The 2020 college football season did not count against player eligibility, so seniors can return for another season. Transfers are immediately eligible to play at their new school.

The University of Georgia gained a star player from the portal last season in quarterback JT Daniels. Who will the Dawgs get this season? Notable recent transfers additions for Georgia include Lawrence Cager, Demetris Robertson, and Tre’ McKitty.

Georgia has seen many more players leave the program than transfer to it thus far this offseason. That being said, Kirby Smart is not afraid to utilize the NCAA transfer portal to add talent.

Georgia transfer OLB Jermaine Johnson chooses Florida State

Georgia linebacker Jermaine Johnson is transferring to Florida State. Details and depth chart projections for 2021 here.

Last week in a surprising move, Georgia linebacker Jermaine Johnson, who is second on the team in sacks in 2020 with five, entered the Transfer Portal.

On Saturday, the senior announced that he is headed to Florida State.

Johnson, from Eden Prairie, Minnesota, played for Last Chance U’s Independence Community College before transferring to Georgia in 2019 as the No. 1 rated JUCO prospect in the nation.

After playing in 14 games in 2019, totaling 20 tackles, three tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks, Johnson broke out for the Bulldogs in just seven games played this season, racking up 16 tackles, five tackles for loss and 5 sacks.

Johnson is allowed another year of eligibility because of the NCAA’s extension of student-athlete eligibility for the 2020-2021 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision to transfer was unexpected because of Georgia’s linebacker depth chart projections for 2021.

Team sack-leader and Bednarick Award semi-finalist Azeez Ojulari has been projected as a first-round pick in some NFL mock drafts and early reports say the redshirt sophomore will indeed enter the 2021 draft, seemingly leaving a big spot to fill, which most believed Johnson would take over next season.

Not to say that Georgia does not have pass-rushers to step up after the departure of Ojulari and now Johnson, because it does.

Sophomore Nolan Smith is a former 5-star recruit who can dominate games at times and explosive junior Adam Anderson ranks third on the team in sacks in 2020 with 4.5.

Joining them will be a loaded 2021 recruiting class from the linebacker position, featuring 4-star Chaz Chambliss and 5-star Xavian Sorey. Both guys can play multiple positions and should get meaningful reps with the gaps left by Ojulari and Johnson.
