Browns LT Jedrick Wills Jr. carted off in air cast vs. Cardinals

Cleveland Browns LT Jedrick Wills Jr. leaves Cardinals game with a severe leg injury.

Cleveland Browns left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. left the Week 9 matchup between the Arizona Cardinals and Browns with an air cast on his leg. Wills had the back of his leg rolled up during a tackle and went to the ground immediately in pain. Wills exited the game earlier with a knee injury and decided to return and finish out the game.

This is very saddening news for Wills who is playing in the final year of his contract. The much-maligned tackle was playing at a high level this season. His injury could cost him a lot during contract negotiations.

Wills will mark the third offensive starter the Browns have lost to injury for the season. Fellow tackle Jack Conklin Jr. and star running back Nick Chubb were injured at the start of the season. The Browns will need to dig deep to find an acceptable replacement for Wills. Backup swing tackle James Hudson III has replaced him in this game.

Browns lose Jedrick Wills Jr. vs. Cardinals with knee injury; questionable to return

Cleveland Browns LT Jedrick Wills Jr. left the game against the Cardinals with a knee injury. He is questionable to return.

Left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. left the Week 9 matchup between the Arizona Cardinals and Cleveland Browns during the second quarter. The lineman injured his knee on a pass play where he got tangled with a defender. He walked off the field under his own power and immediately headed to the medical tent before walking into the locker room a minute before halftime began. Wills is questionable to return.

Wills had a streaky performance today, dominating his opponent for most of the game. Earlier in the game, he was called for a holding penalty on a Deshaun Watson scramble that caused the drive to stall. Hopefully, he can return after halftime.

The Browns have replaced Wills with backup swing tackle James Hudson III. Hudson is a stalwart backup and the offense should have no problem against the Cardinals with him playing. The Browns marched down the field to kick a field goal in Hudson’s only drive. The team is currently leading the Cardinals 13-0.

UPDATE: Wills is back on the field for the Browns.

Browns LT Jedrick Wills Jr. looks good to go vs. Seahawks

The Browns left tackle looks ready to play the Seahawks

It has been a nice couple of games for the left tackle of the Cleveland Browns, Jedrick Wills Jr., since the bye week. He has been playing hard, finishing plays, and showing flashes of the player Cleveland thinks he can be. Then during Thursday’s practice, he suffered an ankle/foot injury that left him questionable for this week against the Seattle Seahawks. However, he is active in this one.

This morning he took the field to give it a try and according to Mary Kay Cabot, offensive line coach Bill Callahan gave Andrew Berry a smile and a thumbs-up. Wills Jr. will be active today and it’s a big break for Cleveland because playing James Hudson III would have been a tough watch.

Hopefully, Wills Jr. isn’t playing limited and can continue his hot streak of play and keep P.J. Walker clean today. The Browns will need every break they can get in one of the league’s toughest places to play as they look to extend their winning streak to three.

Browns LT Jedrick Wills Jr. listed as questionable vs. Seahawks

The starting left tackle is questionable.

The Cleveland Browns are looking to extend their winning streak to three as they head for the West Coast to take on Seattle. According to Cleveland.com reporter Mary Kay Cabot, starting left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. will be questionable for the game after hurting his foot and ankle.

It was a big struggle for Wills to start the season, but his past two games have been pretty good as he’s shown high effort and athleticism. His absence would be felt.

If he can’t go, the team will likely turn to James Hudson III, who is a clear downgrade. Hudson struggled during the preseason without the ability to truly anchor the end of the offensive line. He has shown flashes from time to time, but with Wills playing better lately, Hudson would be a drop-off. Overall Hudson will be ready to go with Bill Callahan preparing him, but it might not be enough.
