Panthers still considered a top landing spot for Bengals WR Tee Higgins

Are the Panthers still a logical landing spot for Bengals WR Tee Higgins?

Even after the implementation of a franchise tag and a trade for a Pro Bowl-caliber pass catcher, the Carolina Panthers are still considered a potential landing spot for a certain wideout.

With Stefon Diggs on the move, Adam Wells of Bleacher Report recently named the best possible suitors for a few other big-name receivers—Cincinnati’s Tee Higgins and free agent Odell Beckham Jr. Wells marked the Panthers as a fit for the former:

Adding Higgins would dramatically improve the Panthers’ receiver room. They would have a bona fide No. 1 on the outside who can create plays deep down the field or in traffic.

Even if the Panthers had to trade the No. 33 pick, which is their first selection in the 2024 draft, they need to surround Young with as much immediate-impact talent as possible to determine if he’s the quarterback they thought he was when they selected him with the top pick last year.

If the Panthers want to make such a deal, it’d obviously have to come within the next few weeks.

Carolina currently holds the 33rd and 39th overall selections in the 2024 NFL draft. Those could appeal to the Bengals, who slapped Higgins with the franchise tag back in February.

But would the Panthers rather draft their own wide receiver with at least one of those picks and have him on a rookie deal or use one to trade for and immediately pay the 25-year-old Higgins?

Odell Beckham ‘loved’ Eli Manning, believes Giants failed him

Odell Beckham Jr. defended himself this week, saying he loved Eli Manning and suggesting the New York Giants failed Eli late in his career.

After Odell Beckham Jr. was traded away from the New York Giants, he seemed excited for a fresh start with a new quarterback after spending his entire career, to that point, with Eli Manning.

Looking back years after the trade, OBJ has joined a laundry list of receivers who struggled not find success on the field after leaving Manning.

Over that time, Beckham has wavered on his feelings toward the Giants and some have interpreted that as also “trashing” Manning.

This week, Beckham took aim at someone making that accusation and explained how he really feels about Eli.

“Never said NOTHING bad about E and he knows tht. When ur left to defend urself to the world with no one defending u, sometimes ‘trashing’ another person may simply sound like u sticking up for urself,” Beckham wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“I loved and Love Eli Manning, been throwin wit bro since I was 14: don’t have a bad thing to say, I was more (expletive) at the organization for not surrounding Eli with all the pieces he needed to WIN and go out the right way.. but when u haven’t gotten a contract u for damn sure can’t say that. I had to secure my own future for my family: it is what it is. I have no regrets, (life) played out how it was goin to play out.”

The Giants added Saquon Barkley to the offense in 2018. However, the duo of Beckham and Barkley only lasted a year before the Giants sent Beckham to the Cleveland Browns for a trade package including the pick that landed them Dexter Lawrence.

Unfortunately, even with adequate weapons, the Giants undeniably failed Manning given the poor offensive line play at the end of his career — something even co-owner John Mara has admitted.

Meanwhile, with Beckham once again a free agent, you can expect some rumors to fly regarding a potential reunion with Big Blue.

Odell Beckham Jr. bids farewell to Baltimore with IG post

After spending just one season in Baltimore, wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.’s time with the Ravens appears to be over. The veteran posted a heartfelt goodbye to his Instagram. A farewell message from Odell Beckham Jr., now a free agent after a year …

After spending just one season in Baltimore, wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.’s time with the Ravens appears to be over. The veteran posted a heartfelt goodbye to his Instagram.

The now 31-year-old receiver signed a one-year deal worth up to $18 million with Baltimore in April last year. Many labeled the move an overpay after Beckham had missed the entirety of the 2022 season with a torn ACL. Others pointed to the move as a necessary olive branch to quarterback Lamar Jackson, who had yet to sign a long-term deal at the time.

While Beckham did not wow with gaudy stats, he proved to be a leader and highly-regarded teammate for the Ravens.

Beckham finished his lone season in Baltimore with 35 receptions for 565 yards and three touchdowns.

The Ravens now move forward with a wide receiver corps consisting of Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, Nelson Agholor, and Tylan Wallace, who can bolster the unit in the upcoming draft or with another cheap veteran.

10 pending free agents the Ravens should not re-sign

We’re looking at ten pending 2024 NFL free agents that the Baltimore Ravens should not re-sign

Baltimore faces an offseason of change after Mike Macdonald bolted for the Seahawks job. Anthony Weaver landed the Dolphins’ defensive coordinator job, and 26 players, headlined by Patrick Queen, are set to be free agents.

Justin Madubuike landed the franchise tag, leaving Baltimore -$9 million over the salary cap ahead of the early tampering period.

With an urgent offseason underway, we’re looking at ten pending free agents who shouldn’t return.

7 standout wide receivers Patriots could still target in free agency

With Tee Higgins and Mike Evans off the table, here are seven standout free agent receivers the Patriots could still target

The wide receiver market is thinning in free agency with Cincinnati Bengals wideout Tee Higgins being franchise tagged and Mike Evans signing a two-year deal to stay with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Those are two big-ticket options gone for the receiver-needy New England Patriots.

But there’s no need to hit the panic button. There are still plenty of wide receiver options that could give the Patriots a major boost in free agency. Some even have the potential to sit at the top of the depth chart in the coveted No. 1 receiving role.

With Higgins and Evans off the table, here are seven standout receivers the Patriots could still pursue in free agency.

Top 12 remaining free-agent wide receivers

Tee Higgins and Mike Evans are now off the table. So, who’s left?

Sorry, Carolina Panthers fans. There will probably be no Tee Higgins and definitely no Mike Evans in your team’s immediate future.

But that doesn’t mean they still can’t sign a worthwhile wideout next week.

Here are the top 12 remaining receivers who are slated to hit free agency:

A look back at Ravens 2023 NFL free agent class

With 2024 NFL free agency set to begin in less than two weeks, we’re looking back at the Baltimore Ravens 2023 free agent class

General manager Eric DeCosta, Ozzie Newsome’s successor, has grown increasingly aggressive in handing out contracts, and he’s now built a Super Bowl hopeful for 2023 and beyond.

The Ravens are 20th in the NFL in cap space, with $11.9 million available, and there will be critical decisions regarding several vital contributors and two All-Pros. And they’re spending about $120+ million plus on the offensive side of the football.

With the NFL combine ongoing and free agency just ten days away, we’re looking at Baltimore’s strong 2023 class.

Giants select receiver ‘eerily similar’ to OBJ in latest NFL.com mock

In the latest mock draft from Gennaro Filice, the New York Giants select a wide receiver ‘eerily similar’ to Odell Beckham Jr.

The NFL mock draft season is in full swing and many of the experts have the New York Giants focusing on bolstering their punchless offense.

In the latest mock from NFL.com, deputy editor Gennaro Filice sees the Giants augmenting their wide receiving corps by selecting LSU’s Malik Nabers with the No. 6 overall pick in this spring’s NFL draft.

Ten years ago, the Giants drafted a playmaking receiver out of LSU who checked in right around 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. Asking the eerily similar Nabers to replicate Odell Beckham Jr.’s spectacular burst onto the NFL scene (SEE: 1,300-plus yards and double-digit touchdowns in each of his first three seasons) is a tall order, but the 20-year-old would undoubtedly give Brian Daboll’s passing attack a necessary jolt of electricity.

Nabers is the latest in a long line of great receivers to come out of Baton Rouge. The Giants can only hope they are getting the next OBJ, Justin Jefferson or Ja’Marr Chase.

There still is the issue of who will be on the other end of the passes that will be intended for Nabers, however. Daniel Jones is still rehabbing his knee, Tyrod Taylor is headed for free agency and Tommy DeVito is, well, clearly backup material at the moment.
