Stat total leaders for Arkansas in 2023 (projections)

Arkansas should force more turnovers on defense and be more balanced offensively in 2023.

Our managing editor E. Wayne gave readers his take on who will lead the Razorbacks in major statistical categories yesterday.

Today is my turn.

Arkansas’ offense should be more balanced this season with Dan Enos at the helm. If it’s anything like 2015, it could be really exciting.

As for the defense, it will be more aggressive under Travis Williams’ schemes compared to Barry Odom’s 3-man front that dropped eight. Which should lead to more chances for tackles for loss and for forcing turnovers.

Let’s take a stab at it.

Former Georgia DB Jaheim Singletary announces transfer within SEC

Former Georgia Bulldogs freshman cornerback Jaheim Singletary has transferred to Arkansas

Former five-star defensive back recruit Jaheim Singletary is transferring to the Arkansas Razorbacks from the University of Georgia.

Singletary has a chance to earn immediate playing time for Arkansas. The Razorbacks gave up the most passing yards per game in the SEC last season.

Singletary appeared in three games in 2022 for the Georgia Bulldogs, but did not record a tackle. He played a role on Georgia’s national championship team. The former five-star recruit will have four years of eligibility remaining.

Singletary was committed to Ohio State during his high school recruiting process.

Singletary was the No. 27 recruit in the class of 2022 and the No. 5 cornerback. Kirby Smart and Georgia landed one of the most talented recruiting classes of all time at the defensive back position in the class of 2022.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound cornerback was ranked one of the best players remaining in the NCAA transfer portal. Singletary joins former Georgia offensive line coach Sam Pittman in Arkansas.

Singletary played high school football for Riverside High School in Jacksonville, Florida.

Arkansas football lands five-star defensive back transfer from Georgia

In case you missed it: Arkansas football landed a former five-star defensive back from Georgia via the transfer portal on Tuesday.

[autotag]Sam Pittman[/autotag] and [autotag]Arkansas football[/autotag] just landed the best remaining prospect in the transfer portal, five-star defensive back Jaheim Singletary from Georgia.

He was one of the most highly-sought high school prospects in the 2022 recruiting class and chose to sign with Georgia over Ohio State and Auburn. The Jacksonville (Fla.) native didn’t see any action and redshirted in his first season with Bulldogs before entering the portal in January.

Singletary is listed at 6-2, 175 pounds and according to his high school scouting report, has all of the tools to become and impressive cornerback for a Top 25 program thanks to his impressive length and instincts.

Arkansas finished dead last in the country in passing defense last season and lost a lot of contributors from that porous secondary, meaning that there were spots open for talented to players to contribute immediately. The Razorbacks also made some key staff additions in the offseason which seem to already be paying off.

[autotag]Travis Williams[/autotag] was hired as new defensive coordinator following [autotag]Barry Odom[/autotag]’s departure, and comes with a great recruiting background in key areas. He was hired shortly before [autotag]Marcus Woodson[/autotag] was brought on as co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach. Woodson also has a well-respected recruiting background and helped bring in [autotag]Deron Wilson[/autotag] from Florida as secondary coach.

Arkansas will begin spring practices this Thursday, March 9. The Razorbacks will have 15 practices which culminate with the Red-White Game on April 15.

Two former Georgia Bulldogs are ranked as top players remaining in the NCAA transfer portal, per 247Sports.

Georgia wide receiver Dominick Blaylock is ranked as the No. 5 player left in the transfer portal. Blaylock has overcome multiple injuries throughout his college career. He offers a veteran presence to any wide receiver room.

Blaylock caught 15 passes for 227 receiving yards and a touchdown in 2022. He helped Georgia win back-to-back national championships. Blaylock is likely looking for a larger role at his new team.

Georgia cornerback Jaheim Singletary, a former five-star recruit, is 247Sports’ top remaining player in the transfer portal. Singletary appeared in three games in 2022 for the Bulldogs, but did not record a tackle. He has substantial talent and could start right away if his new home needs help at the cornerback position.

247Sports ranks Singletary as the No. 21 player to enter the transfer portal. It considers Dominick Blaylock to be the No. 373 player in the portal.

There will be a lot more activity in the transfer portal following spring practice.

New athletes can enter the transfer portal following spring practice on May 1. It will mark the first time since January that players can enter the transfer portal. Players, such as Dominick Blaylock and Jaheim Singletary, can transfer whenever they want once they have their name in the transfer portal.

Top three cornerbacks left in the transfer portal

We continue to look at the transfer portal to see if Ohio State might look at adding a quality DB. #GoBucks

The Ohio State Buckeyes are always looking to better themselves. There is no better evidence than the recent commitment news of former Louisiana-Monroe offensive lineman, Victor Cutler. He was likely not the end of Ohio State’s raid on the transfer portal.

The Buckeyes look primed to have a much better defensive backfield in 2022, but that was not the case as the group dealt with cluster injuries and flat-out disappointing play on the back end. They have already added a potential immediate starter, Ja’Had Carter from Syracuse, but there is a possibility that more playmakers will be added through the transfer portal and we wanted to go over the three best cornerbacks left to take a look at.

After all, in a Jim Knowles defense, the corners are often left on an island to cover guys 1:1, and limiting the big play is going to be huge if the Buckeyes have designs of beating Michigan, winning the Big Ten and being in play for the College Football Playoff once again.

Another former UGA defender with close ties to Dan Lanning pops up in transfer portal

MJ Sherman struggled to find a role with Georgia, but he is a former top-50 recruit with close ties to Dan Lanning, looking for a new home.

On Thursday afternoon, an interesting name popped up in the transfer portal when it was reported that Georgia Bulldogs’ former 5-star cornerback Jaheim Singletary was looking to leave Athens and find a new school to play for.

Another intriguing name popped up in the portal on Friday morning, with Georgia edge defender MJ Sherman announcing that he would end the portal as well.

Both of these players are worth noting for Oregon Duck fans for a couple of reasons; the both fill positions of need for the Ducks, and they both have close ties to Oregon coach Dan Lanning.

Lanning was the primary recruiter for Sherman, who is a former 5-star prospect who was rated as the No. 33 overall player in the 2020 class, and No. 2 OLB per 247Sports. Sherman struggled to find a consistent role with the Bulldogs in his three years but is obviously a talented player with a high upside looking for an opportunity to make a difference.

Likewise, Singletary was not primarily recruited by Lanning,  but he committed to Georgia with Lanning as the defensive coordinator, so it’s safe to assume that there is a solid relationship between the two.

There is not yet any news out there that the Ducks are after either one or both former Georgia players, but it will be interesting to keep an eye on the two over the coming weeks. There is a chance that they could be heading out west, if only for a visit, at the very least.

Former 5-star DB Jaheim Singletary enters transfer portal

Georgia Bulldogs freshman cornerback Jaheim Singletary has entered the NCAA transfer portal

Former five-star defensive back Jaheim Singletary has entered the transfer portal. Singletary appeared in three games in 2022 for the Bulldogs, but did not record a tackle.

Singletary was committed to Ohio State during the recruiting process, so the Buckeyes are a team to watch for the former five-star.

Singletary was the No. 27 recruit in the class of 2022 and the No. 5 cornerback. Kirby Smart and Georgia landed one of the most talented recruiting classes of all-time at the defensive back position in the class of 2022.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound cornerback is one of the best players in the NCAA transfer portal. Singletary also considered Miami and Florida during his high school recruitment.

The former five-star defensive back prospect announced his decision to enter the transfer portal via Twitter:

Singletary played high school football for Riverside High School in Jacksonville, Florida.

Former 5-star Georgia CB Jaheim Singletary could be interesting transfer target for Ducks

Former 5-star Georgia CB Jaheim Singletary is headed to the transfer portal. He committed to the Bulldogs when Lanning was the DC. Might the Ducks reach out?

An interesting name popped up in the transfer portal on Thursday morning, and it could lead to Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning making a phone call or two before all is said and one.

Georgia Bulldogs true freshman cornerback Jaheim Singletary, a former 5-star commit from the 2022 class, announced that he would be entering the transfer portal and looking for a new school. Singletary committed to the Bulldogs as the No. 5 CB in the nation, and No. 27 overall player in the 2022 class.

This is interesting for Oregon fans for two reasons; the Ducks have a need to fill at the cornerback position, even after adding Alabama transfer Khyree Jackson earlier in the offseason, and Lanning has a relationship with Singletary already.

While Lanning is not listed as one of the primary recruiters for Singletary on 247Sports, it’s safe to assume that as the defensive coordinator for the Bulldogs when the 5-star CB committed to Georgia, the two have a good relationship. Singletary also took a visit to Eugene back in December of 2019.

We will see if the Ducks end up reaching out and trying to make contact, but this could be another massive get in the transfer portal for Oregon at a position of need.

5-star CB Jaheim Singletary signs with Georgia

5-star CB Jaheim Singletary is officially a Georgia Bulldog.

Georgia secured a national letter of intent from one of its biggest fish in the 2022 recruiting class: 5-star cornerback Jaheim Singletary.

Singletary committed to Georgia in November. He is a former Ohio State commit out of Riverside High School in Jacksonville, Florida.

He ranks as the nation’s No. 21 overall player and No. 5 ranked cornerback according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound cornerback is a great addition to Kirby Smart’s class of 2022. Georgia is likely losing starting cornerback Derion Kendrick to the NFL after this season.

Georgia could have greatest DB recruiting class ever…and it might not be done yet

This class of defensive backs is just sick…

Georgia currently has the nation’s No. 1 ranked recruiting class for the 2022 cycle after the commitment of 5-star cornerback Daylen Everette on Tuesday.

Everette becomes the sixth defensive back to commit to UGA in this class, and the third 5-star defensive back.

With the start of the early signing period set to begin on Wednesday, the Dawgs are in great position to reel in the greatest recruiting class of defensive backs that college football has ever seen.

Here’s who Georgia has committed in the secondary, plus one more who very well may announce his commitment to Georgia on Wednesday.
