The new mascot will succeed Uga X, affectionately known as Que, who will retire as the winningest mascot in Georgia history.

Que was two and half years old when he began his reign as Georgia’s beloved mascot in 2015. He compiled an impressive 91-18 record, which included back-to-back College Football Playoff National Championships, two SEC titles and victories in the Rose, Sugar, Orange and Peach bowls.

If everything goes as planned, Boom will make his regular-season debut at Sanford Stadium on Sept. 2 against Tennessee-Martin.

5 players to watch in Georgia football’s spring game

Georgia football is back for the April 16 spring game. Who are five players to watch in G-Day?

Georgia football is back for the April 16 spring game. Sanford Stadium will be packed with fans wearing red and black once again.

It will be the Bulldogs’ first time in front of home fans, for a game or scrimmage, since winning the national championship game against Alabama. Kirby Smart has built an exciting team for the 2022 season, but the Dawgs are currently battling a lot of injuries. Key players like Brock Bowers, Darnell Washington, Rian Davis, and more are expected to miss the scrimmage.

The game is at 1:00 p.m. EDT and will be televised on ESPN2. It will be the last open look many fans will have of the team before Georgia opens the season against Oregon on Sept. 3 in Atlanta.

Here are five players and position battles to watch in the Georgia 2022 spring football game:

Second half notes and observations from UGA football’s spring game

Second half notes and observations from UGA football’s spring game, G-Day.

The second half of G-Day was another taste of football on a nice day at Sanford Stadium.

Georgia Bulldogs defensive back Dan Jackson intercepted Carson Beck to begin the second half of the G-Day spring game.

The Black Team recorded a fourth sack early in the first half.

JT Daniels continues to look comfortable and threw another touchdown pass to Kearis Jackson. A 40 yard pass on a wheel route to James Cook helped put Daniels and the offense in scoring position.

Punter Jake Camarda has had an impressive performance punting the football on G-Day. He has had multiple booming punts. There was no punt rush, so it is an ideal situation for punters.

Lewis Cine intercepted Stetson Bennett in the fourth quarter on a wheel route passing attempt. Zion Logue has continued to have a good game. He recorded a sack and recovered a fumble in the first half.

Offensive lines have been losing the battle at the line of scrimmage. Quarterbacks can’t move around as much because if they are touched, then it is considered a sack.

Adonai Mitchell has topped 100 yards on the day. He and JT Daniels has a good connection that will be important for the regular season.

Carson Beck and Darnell Washington connected for a late fourth quarter touchdown. Washington has looked impressive and should be the team’s top tight receiving tight end. Carson Beck looked sharp in the two minute drill.

First half highlights from Georgia football’s spring game

The Georgia Bulldogs are playing the G-Day spring game. Who is standing out in the first half?

The Georgia Bulldogs are playing the G-Day spring game. Who is standing out in the first half?

Darnell Washington had a 50 plus yard reception in the first half. He ran over defensive back Dan Jackson in the process. Carson Beck, who is the quarterback for the Black Team and the team’s No. 2 quarterback threw an accurate pass to Washington along the sideline.

Beck has displayed a quick release and good footwork throughout the game.

Kendall Milton, who has shown good burst, rushed for an eight yard touchdown. Milton has impressed in spring practice.

Quarterback Brock Vandagriff bobbled a snap and lost it to Zion Logue, who recovered the fumble for the Red Team.

The Red Team tied up the scoring at seven each with a two yard touchdown run from Zamir White. A 29 yard pass connection between Stetson Bennett and Kearis Jackson set up the score.

Jake Camarda isn’t taking Jack Podlesny’s job anytime soon. That’s okay, but Camarda did miss a pair of first half field goal attempts (both over 40 yards). Podlesny made a 35 yard kick to make the score 10-7.

JT Daniels and the Red Team helped put Camarda in field goal range to open the game. The Red Team offensive line struggled against the Black Team defense, which featured good performances from Nolan Smith, Travon Walker, and others.

Adonai Mitchell recorded five catches for 80 yards and a touchdown in the first half and showed good chemistry with JT Daniels after failing to haul in his first couple of targets. Daniels hooked up with Mitchell for a touchdown to cap an impressive two-minute drill drive.

How to watch Georgia’s G-Day spring game

Georgia Bulldogs fans can watch the Dawgs play in G-Day spring game at 2 p.m. on TV’s SEC Network+.

G-Day is finally here for Georgia Bulldogs fans! The G-Day spring game will give fans with access to SEC Network+ an opportunity to watch the Dawgs on TV for the first time since the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Sanford Stadium. Many Bulldog fans won’t be happy that the contest is on SEC Network+ because it requires additional steps for those who are unfamiliar with the platform.

The G-Day game will be televised on SEC Network+, which can be accessed via the ESPN app, but you will need a TV or cable provider log in to access the game. SEC Network+ is a separate station from the SEC Network. Click here to access the game via Watch ESPN (cable log in required).

The 2019 edition of G-Day lasted about two hours. We’d suggest watching the start of the game, since that’s when the starters like JT Daniels will play the most.

The best course of action for around 20,000 fans is to sit in their seats at Sanford Stadium. Most fans aren’t lucky enough to be attending the game, but would like to get a peep of the Georgia Bulldogs before they open the season against the Clemson Tigers.

Tom Hart, Jordan Rodgers and Cole Cubelic will call the game on SEC Network+. The spring scrimmage will also be carried on much of the Georgia Bulldogs Sports Network from IMG with Scott Howard and Eric Zeier announcing the Dawgs in action.
