Second half notes and observations from UGA football’s spring game

Second half notes and observations from UGA football’s spring game, G-Day.

The second half of G-Day was another taste of football on a nice day at Sanford Stadium.

Georgia Bulldogs defensive back Dan Jackson intercepted Carson Beck to begin the second half of the G-Day spring game.

The Black Team recorded a fourth sack early in the first half.

JT Daniels continues to look comfortable and threw another touchdown pass to Kearis Jackson. A 40 yard pass on a wheel route to James Cook helped put Daniels and the offense in scoring position.

Punter Jake Camarda has had an impressive performance punting the football on G-Day. He has had multiple booming punts. There was no punt rush, so it is an ideal situation for punters.

Lewis Cine intercepted Stetson Bennett in the fourth quarter on a wheel route passing attempt. Zion Logue has continued to have a good game. He recorded a sack and recovered a fumble in the first half.

Offensive lines have been losing the battle at the line of scrimmage. Quarterbacks can’t move around as much because if they are touched, then it is considered a sack.

Adonai Mitchell has topped 100 yards on the day. He and JT Daniels has a good connection that will be important for the regular season.

Carson Beck and Darnell Washington connected for a late fourth quarter touchdown. Washington has looked impressive and should be the team’s top tight receiving tight end. Carson Beck looked sharp in the two minute drill.

The Red Team tied up the scoring at seven each with a two yard touchdown run from Zamir White. A 29 yard pass connection between Stetson Bennett and Kearis Jackson set up the score.

Jake Camarda isn’t taking Jack Podlesny’s job anytime soon. That’s okay, but Camarda did miss a pair of first half field goal attempts (both over 40 yards). Podlesny made a 35 yard kick to make the score 10-7.

JT Daniels and the Red Team helped put Camarda in field goal range to open the game. The Red Team offensive line struggled against the Black Team defense, which featured good performances from Nolan Smith, Travon Walker, and others.

Adonai Mitchell recorded five catches for 80 yards and a touchdown in the first half and showed good chemistry with JT Daniels after failing to haul in his first couple of targets. Daniels hooked up with Mitchell for a touchdown to cap an impressive two-minute drill drive.
