These players won’t be seeing the field for the #Browns in their Week 2 matchup against the #Jets
[sendtonews_embed video_id=”1YuYGOpC9u-2238582-7498″]
The Cleveland Browns announced their inactives ahead of their matchup against the New York Jets on Sunday morning. Among the players who will not see the field in Cleveland’s Week 2 tilt are some fan-favorite prospects, who will have to wait another week to make their impact on the Browns’ 2022 campaign.
The team posted the list of non-participants to Twitter shortly before kickoff:
Our inactives for #NYJvsCLE
— Cleveland Browns (@Browns) September 18, 2022
A few players stand out in this group more than the others. Running back D’Ernest Johnson has shown flashes of excellence for Cleveland in the past, but the team has elected to deactivate him in this matchup. Much the same, tackle Jack Conklin is a promising young lineman with a bright future but was not selected to be a member of the game-day squad.
Defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey was held out of Friday’s practice for disciplinary reasons, so his absence may be an indication of his standing with the Browns organization heading into this important matchup.
Quarterback Kellen Mond, receiver Michael Woods II, and safety Richard LeCounte III face an uphill battle to see their names called at all this season unless injuries play a factor at their respective positions. Likewise, the deactivated tackles Hubbard and Conklin are victims of a particularly stacked offensive line and will need to prove they’re worthy of snaps before the team will decide to carry them on their Sunday roster.
There are no big surprises on this list, and as Cleveland prepares to face New York, they bring in a mostly-healthy roster that should have a good chance to emerge from this game the victors. The Jets will be starting veteran quarterback Joe Flacco on offense, and after an uninspired performance saw them lose their Week 1 scrap against the Ravens, New York will be hard-pressed to hang with the Browns this week.

These three things need to happen if Alabama wants to repeat as champions!
Gameday has officially arrived. Tonight, Alabama and Georgia will square off for the College Football Playoff national championship in Indianapolis.
Alabama got the best of the Bulldogs in the SEC Championship in December, 41-24. Georiga will be looking for revenge and its first national championship since 1980.
Nick Saban and the Tide are seeking to become the first team to repeat as champions in the playoff era. A win would give Saban seven championships while in Tuscaloosa and it would be his eighth overall as a college head coach.
In these types of matchups, the margin for error is so small. The Crimson Tide will need to play well if they have hopes of hoisting the championship trophy once again.
Now, let’s take a few moments to look at three keys to victory for Alabama as they try to defeat the Georgia Bulldogs.

What potential CFP team has the biggest risk of getting upset today?
The College Football season is winding down with only two weeks of the regular season remaining. As the race for the College Football Playoff is on and bowl projections become somewhat more clear each week, we have a big Saturday of action ahead of rivalry week in the sport next week.
As always, ESPN’s College Gameday staff made their predictions for the biggest games of the week on Saturday morning. What upsets do some of them see coming today and which favorites will roll?
The band Twenty One Pilots served as this week’s guest pickers and here are the picks the staff gave on Saturday morning:
Who you got today?
No. 9 Notre Dame playing host to No. 7 Cincinnati is the only top-10 matchup of the weekend but thanks to a hot start from unbeaten and No. 8 Arkansas, the Irish didn’t play host to ESPN’s College Gameday on Saturday.
The Gameday crew did their show from Sanford Stadium in Athens ahead of No. 2 Georgia vs. No. 8 Arkansas but everyone had a prediction for the battle between Notre Dame and Cincinnati. Here is who each picked as Team USA Ryder Cup member Harris English served as the celebrity guest picker:
Fan Vote: Cincinnati (58%)
Desmond Howard: Notre Dame
Harris English: Notre Dame
Lee Corso: Notre Dame
Kirk Herbstreit: Cincinnati
Herbstreit noted that Cincinnati’s defense will be the difference. Will he be right?
Let’s hope not as kickoff is coming up at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Wake up! It’s game day in Austin, Texas. Here is the pregame buzz as Texas gets ready to face Rice on Saturday night.
Wake up! It’s game day in Austin, Texas.
After a tough loss on the road to Arkansas, Steve Sarkisian’s Southwest Conference record is 0-1. He will have a chance to pull back to .500 Saturday night at home against Rice.
The big news of the week is Casey Thompson getting the starting nod at quarterback. After Hudson Card struggled last week, Sarkisian decided to make the change. Both are expected to play throughout, getting a test run before Big 12 play begins next week.
Adjustments are needed throughout the field as well, not just at quarterback. Kyle Flood’s offensive line struggled mightily against an SEC caliber defense and needs to respond. The same starting five of Jones-Okafor-Majors-Angilau-Kerstetter is expected to make the start.
Pete Kwiatkowski’s unit needs to improve as well.
The only reason Texas was in the game coming out of the halftime gate against Arkansas was because of the defense. However, no Longhorn could make a stop in the run game in the second half. Better pressure from the defensive line would be considered a win.
Here is the pregame buzz on Twitter as Texas gets ready to face Rice on Saturday night.
