2022 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament championship and Final Four odds

Championship odds for every team in the NCAA men’s tournament.

The bracket for the 2022 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament was revealed Sunday, and not without some surprises. Duke somehow got a No. 2 seed, while Tennessee ended up as a No. 3. And Texas A&M fans were left upset about their snub from the big dance.

Either way, the field is the field (you can print your bracket here). And now that the different paths to a title are known, betting odds are available for all 68 teams in the tournament.

From No. 1 overall seed Gonzaga’s chase to finally capture that elusive title to the fringe teams who weren’t even sure they would make the field at the start of Sunday, here’s a look at championship and Final Four betting odds on Tipico Sportsbook along with each team’s seed and region.

The surprising impact Tom Brady’s retirement has on Tampa Bay’s Super Bowl 57 odds

Oddsmakers had an immediate reaction to Brady calling it a career

When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers woke up on Tuesday morning, they could comfortably expect to contend for another Lombardi Trophy in 2022-23. At least, that’s what oddsmakers were telling them.

At +1300, Tampa Bay had the fourth-shortest odds at Tipico Sportsbook to win Super Bowl 57—behind only this year’s final four of the Buffalo Bills (+650), Kansas City Chiefs (+650), Los Angeles Rams (+1200) and tied with the Cincinnati Bengals and San Francisco 49ers.

Then Tom Brady retired (officially, like for real this time). No question about it. Brady wrote a lengthy Instagram post and all declaring his time in the NFL was over.

And, amazingly, Bucs futures haven’t moved an inch.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CZcDCOOr-v4/

Tampa Bay’s odds to win Super Bowl 57 remained among the shortest in the NFL. Similarly, the Bucs’ odds to win the NFC held steady +550.

There are a few reasons bettors might not be ready to give up on Tampa Bay as a contender. For starters, it’s not like Brady is taking the rest of the team with him into retirement. A star-studded wideout corps led by Mike Evans and Chris Godwin remains in place. So does a terrifying defense anchored by Vita Vea, Lavonte David and Shaquil Barrett.

The Bucs may not even have to struggle to find a suitable replacement for Brady. This year’s quarterback carousel could see a number of high profile names moved with Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan and Jimmy Garoppolo among those expected to hit the trade block.

Even as Brady calls it a career, Tampa Bay should remain a powerhouse in the NFC. Oddsmakers don’t expect anything less.

College Football Playoff 2022: Game lines for top-4 teams in fifth rankings

Game odds for the top four teams in the penultimate CFP rankings ahead of Championship Week.

We’re in the endgame now.

Only conference championship week stands between the College Football Playoff committee and their final rankings — the fifth iteration of which were released Tuesday night.

Georgia remains in the No. 1 spot while Michigan’s extraordinary win over Ohio State bumped the Wolverines up to No. 2 and knocked the Buckeyes back to No. 7. Cincinnati remains at No. 4 for a second consecutive week while Alabama holds steady at No. 3 after a dramatic overtime victory at Auburn.

The full rankings can be found here, but don’t get too attached.

Alabama and Georgia are set to meet in the SEC title game while Michigan prepares to take on Iowa in the Big Ten championship. College football is teetering on chaos and that doesn’t even include all the coaching changes this week.

Here’s a look at which teams have the best chance at surviving their final contests before bowl season begins.

‘Mattress Mack’ missed out on $35 million thanks to the Atlanta Braves winning the World Series

Don’t worry, he still earned plenty of cash from the Astros’ playoff run.

Houston retail magnate Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale is on a rather rough losing streak.

After losing a $1 million bet on the Houston Cougars to win the men’s basketball national championship last April, he was at it again with a $2.4 million wager on Essential Quality to win the Kentucky Derby. That one also missed.

On Tuesday night, as his hometown Houston Astros lost the World Series to the Atlanta Braves in six games, Mack waved goodbye to another $3.25 million. That total was a combination of wagers placed at multiple sportsbooks, including a $2 million ticket at William Hill with a payout of $22 million — which would’ve been a U.S. record if it hit. Had the Astros been able to pull off a comeback and win the series in seven games, Mack would’ve earned a combined $35.6 million.

He just wouldn’t have been able to keep the majority of it.

Mack is able to place such massive bets because of a promotion he runs at his regional stores. Typically the way it works involves Mack offering a full refund to anyone who spends $3,000 or more at his stores if the team he bets on wins. Mack then uses the payouts from his successful bets to cover the cost of the refund — and still walks away with a large chunk of cash.

Which is why his decision not hedge his bets looms particularly large today.

The 70-year-old previously told The Action Network he would have to payout $20 million in refunds if the Astros won the World Series this year. That would’ve left him with more than $15 million in profit from his wagers.

If there’s anything we know for certain about Mack, the loss won’t stop him from trying again. After all, his most recent major victory came from betting $3.46 million on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to win the Super Bowl last year. And the NFL playoffs are right around the corner.

NFC Champion: +400

First things first, can the Packers win the NFC championship? I’d argue the best value to win the NFC is the Packers. Considering they are the No. 2 seed entering the playoffs, which earned them a bye in the first round and home-field advantage against every NFC opponent aside from the San Francisco 49ers, isn’t there inherent value in taking the Packers (the third favorite to make it out of the NFC)?

(Photo Credit: Jeff Hanisch – USA TODAY Sports)

Lambeau Field is arguably the strongest home-field advantage in the NFL. Factor in winter conditions and beating the Cheeseheads at Lambeau in January is a rare feat. Since 2008 (when Aaron Rodgers became the Packers’ starting quarterback), Green Bay has the best record in the NFL as a home favorite at 52-33-3.

Also, the Packers are 28-15 straight up in the Rodgers era when having a rest advantage over opponents (sixth-best in the NFL). Given these factors, and their future first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterback. PACKERS (+400) to win the NFC is the best value on the board.

Super Bowl: +800

Banking on our Packers +400 bet slip to win the NFC title to cash, what are the chances the PACKERS (+800) win Super Bowl LIV? Many consider the Packers an overrated team heading into the playoffs, but they’ve consistently exceeded expectations this season. The definition of expectations made for a sports team is how they perform against sportsbooks’ odds.

The Packers beat their projected regular-season NFL win total of nine (13-3 straight up) and they had the sixth-best record against the spread in the NFL (10-6 ATS). Winning and appearing in only one Super Bowl in the Rodgers era can be viewed as a disappointment for the Packers, but their 10-5-1 ATS record in playoff games is the second-best in the NFL since 2008 (minimum of three games played).

Rodgers isn’t having his typical MVP-caliber season but the Packers should still be considered a dual-threat offense. Rodgers’ down-year included 4,002 passing yards, 26 touchdowns and just four interceptions on a 62% completion rate. But running back Aaron Jones has provided Rodgers with a quarterback’s best friend with a strong run game.

Jones ran for 1,084 yards and tied with an NFL-leading 16 rushing touchdowns. His production is key to the Packers offense; the Packers won all five of the games in which Jones ran for 100-plus yards. Rodgers’ favorite target—WR Davante Adams—missed four games but is healthy to end the season, and he can get a little healthier because of the Packers first-round bye. Adams got rolling at the end of the regular season, catching 27 balls with 312 receiving yards and two touchdowns in the final three games of the season.

The Packers defense is ranked ninth in opponent’s points scored. The last time the Packers were in the top-10 in that category was in 2010 (ranked second) when they won Super Bowl XLV. Their defense is led by two legit pass rushers—both added this past offseason—in DE Preston Smith (12 sacks) and DE Za’Darius Smith (13.5 sacks and NFL-leader in pressures). Based on the Packers’ ability to play complementary football and the wide-open landscape of the NFL entering the postseason, take the PACKERS (+800) to win the whole damn thing.
