Four-star offensive lineman sets visit to Auburn

Auburn will get a big-time visitor during spring ball.

The Auburn Tigers got some good news on the recruiting front. Four-star offensive lineman out of Tampa, Florida, Clay Wedin has set a visit date to the Plains.

Wedin will take a visit to Auburn on Mar. 18. That is the same date as the third practice of spring football. The Tigers will hold 14 practices prior to the “A-Day” spring game on Apr. 9.

Wedin is viewed as a top 150 prospect in the 2023 class according to Rivals. His 247Sports composite ranking has him listed as the No. 11 interior offensive lineman in the country. Wedin plays offensive tackle but could slide inside to guard if needed. He certainly has the size to play out on the edge for Auburn.

The Alabama Crimson Tide as well as in-state Florida Gators are also among the teams vying for the talented offensive lineman. Auburn will certainly have a battle on its hands when it comes to trying to earn his pledge on the recruiting trails.

Currently, head coach Bryan Harsin has one commitment for the 2023 class. Braydn Joiner of Auburn, Alabama pledged his commitment to Harsin on New Years Day of this year.

Four-star OT Elijah Pritchett commits to Alabama over Georgia, Florida State, and USC

Alabama has moved up to the No. 3 class in the 2022 cycle with Pritchett’s commitment.

Of the top 10 offensive tackles in the 2022 class, only four are uncommitted heading into the week. Zach Rice, Josh Conerly Jr., Elijah Pritchett, and Kam Dewberry have all extended their recruitments past the summer.

Pritchett decided to shut it down on Tuesday afternoon, committing to Alabama. The four-star offensive tackle chose the Crimson Tide over Florida State, Georgia, and USC.

Despite Kirby Smart’s staff getting the final official visit this past weekend, Charles Kelly and Doug Marrone sealed the deal.

Alabama has moved up to the No. 3 class in the 2022 cycle per the 247Sports composite, despite having the fewest commitments out of the top five. Penn State and Notre Dame keep the top two spots with both have 20+ pledges so far.

Pritchett is the third offensive lineman in the class and the third prospect from the state of Georgia. Four-star Tyler Booker headlines the OL class from IMG Academy.

In an interview with On3 Recruits, Pritchett says Alabama and Georiga were the real two final schools. Getting to Tuscaloosa for a weekend sealed the deal in favor of the Crimson Tide.

“That visit when they played Mercer was the icing on the cake,” Prtichett said. “Seeing the team compete, even against a smaller school, showed me a lot.

“It was my first game at Alabama too, so seeing the fans was amazing. The fans knew it wasn’t a big game, but they still had the mind-set that they wanted to beat the crap out of Mercer.”

Alabama’s most recent commit is the No. 94 overall player on the 247Sports composite. Within the state of Georgia, Pritchett is the No. 8 prospect and ranks as the No. 9 offensive tackle in the country.

Four-star OT Kam Dewberry checks in for Texas unofficial vist

Kam Dewberry decided to travel to Austin this weekend, checking in late Friday night. The four-star OT will be on an unofficial visit.

It’s no secret that the offensive line is one of, if not the biggest need for Texas in the 2022 recruiting class. Forget how bad of a job Herb Hand did last cycle, simply put: there is too much in-state talent for the Longhorns to not prioritize the position group.

Kelvin Banks and Devon Campbell have been the two biggest targets. Both are ranked five-star prospects and Kyle Flood has positioned himself to be able to land both. Cole Hutson, Conner Robertson, and Cam Williams have also been getting a ton of attention.

In all of the hype, one elite offensive tackle has flown under the radar. Four-star Kam Dewberry still is a top target for Texas, despite not a ton of recent news about the two sides.

Dewberry decided to make a visit to Austin this weekend, checking in late Friday night. He will be on an unofficial visit, possibly saving his official one for football season.

On Saturday morning, Inside Texas was able to catch up with the four-star offensive tackle, confirming he was in Austin.

Dewberry currently sports a top five of Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas A&M. LSU could also be in the mix, receiving an official visit on June 4.

Trips to College Station and Columbus are on the docket for upcoming weeks. From there, two more official visits will be up for grabs. Texas will have to fight off the Red River rivals and Nick Saban. No easy task.

On the 247Sports composite, Dewberry ranks as the No. 10 offensive tackle in the country. The Atascoocia native is No. 19 within the state of Texas and No. 102 in the country.

Even if there has not been a ton of flirting between Dewberry and Texas, he remains an important offensive line target.

Four-star Duncanville offensive tackle picks up offer from Texas

Cameron Williams is the latest highly sought-after offensive tackle to come out of Duncanville. Texas joined the party late Wednesday night.

Stop me if you have heard this one before, but Texas is now in the race for a four-star offensive tackle from Duncanville. After whiffing on Savion Byrd last season, the Longhorns will be looking for redemption within the 2022 class.

Cameron Williams is the latest highly sought-after offensive tackle to come out of Duncanville High School. Some of the best programs in the country have extended offers to him. Texas joined the party late Wednesday night.

Williams only has one official visit currently on the schedule, as Oregon will host the offensive tackle on June 4. With how badly of a rebuild Kyle Flood is undergoing, all options are going to be on the table. Texas offered Williams late but should remain as competitive as anybody in the nation.

Texas Football Recruiting: Four-star OT Malik Agbo releases top 12 schools

News out of the Pacific NW came out in the form of four-star OT Malik Agbo. The No. 6 player from Washington released his top 12 schools.

A common theme over the past week in Texas recruiting has been the West Coast. Two players from Nevada were offered in the past week, while Lander Barton, the No. 1 player from Utah, was offered on Wednesday.

News out of the Pacific Northwest came to fruition in the form of four-star offensive tackle Malik Agbo. The No. 6 player from Washington released his top 12 schools on Friday, and Texas made the cut.

Alabama, Arizona State, Florida, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and USC form the top 12, making Agbo one of the most sought-after recruits in the country. Four Pac-12 programs are still in the race; most players from Washington end up in the conference.

On the 247Sports composite, Agbo is the No. 256 player and No. 30 offensive tackle in the country. He spoke with 247Sports about his top 12, saying nothing but positive things about Texas.

“With the relationship I have built with coach (Steve) Sarkisian, it’s incredible how much we’ve got to see how each other do things and him being able to tell me all about the University of Texas is amazing.”

Offensive tackles Kelvin Banks, Devon Campbell and Kam Dewberry will remain a priority for Texas until they win or are out of the race. With how poor the offensive line class was during the 2021 cycle, Kyle Flood is looking to take multiple prospects, even if he wins his main battles.

Agbo would be the perfect example of another guy the Longhorns are willing to take. Depth is important but getting quality is how Flood will turn around Texas’ offensive line.

Texas Football Recruiting: Four-star OT Malik Agbo picks up offer

Four-star Malik Agbo was offered by UT on Monday. Coming out of Washington, Agbo is in the backyard of Sarkisian’s old recruiting grounds.

Texas’ presence along the West Coast has been evident since Steve Sarkisian took over as head coach. Continue reading “Texas Football Recruiting: Four-star OT Malik Agbo picks up offer”

Texas Football Recruiting: Four-star OT Jacob Sexton announces top five schools

Four-star offensive tackle Jacob Sexton released his top five schools on Monday afternoon.

[jwplayer 8YRjf4k6]

Four-star offensive tackle Jacob Sexton released his top five schools on Monday afternoon and Texas made the cut. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are the two other Big 12 programs to join the Longhorns, while Alabama and Texas A&M from the SEC are also on the list.

As a prospect out of Edmond, Oklahoma, Sexton is the No. 3 overall player in the state. Quarterback Casey Thompson was the last player Texas poached out of Oklahoma and only the fourth since 2010.

Offensive line recruiting will be one of the main storylines for Texas throughout the 2022 class. Convincing Sexton to cross over the Red River to play in Austin would be a big win for Kyle Flood.
