Three-star offenisve tackle Cameron Williams “100% committed to Oregon”

“I am 100% committed to Oregon until further notice.”

It’s easy to spot Cameron Williams out of a crowd. The 6-5, 360-pound offensive lineman spent the night making his presence known against DeSoto. Most times, the Eagles did not even try to send a rusher his way, letting Williams find his own target.

Texas was in after the three-star offensive tackle hard over the summer. Willaims’ decision came down to the Longhorns, Oklahoma, and Oregon. To much surprise, the west coast school ended up being the winner. At the time, it was the latest of many moves the Ducks have made inside the state of Texas.

Offensive line coach Alex Mirabal was a big reason Oregon ended up being the choice. The two are close to each other and get to speak consistently. A proven track record of getting people to the next level appealed to Williams as well.

“We talk every day,” said Williams. “[Mirabal] knows a lot. He put a lot of people in the league, I like that.”

Mirabal was in attendance on Friday night to see his offensive tackle commit play in person. They caught up during the pregame warmup before turning the focus on the game. From there, the offensive line coach followed nearly every play from the right tackle.

Williams appreciated the gesture of making it down from Eugune to Dallas on a Friday night.

“It was a blessing just for him to fly down here, knowing they got a game tomorrow,” Williams said. “It was a blessing.”

Oregon has had a big week off the backs of a road win against Ohio State. The program has ascended to No. 4 in the AP poll, its highest regular-season ranking since 2014.

When asked about the win over Ohio State, Williams instantly lit up with excitement. The offensive line “looked pretty” as the Ducks rushed for 269 yards and three touchdowns. Everything seemed to check the boxes from the three-star’s end.

“It was crazy, everybody was doubting them hard but I already knew they were going to win,” he said.

Williams is scheduled to visit Eugune again over the Thanksgiving holiday to see the Oregon-Oregon State matchup better known as the Civil War. Texas-Oklahoma in Dallas is the only other game on the schedule. All five official visits have already been made.

From a Texas perspective, it seems as if there is a steep hill to climb if a flip is wanted. Williams has no plans at the moment to go see Austin for a game weekend. The Red River Shootout could be the last opportunity to get face time.

“To be honest, I do not even know [what it would take for a decommitment].”

“I am 100% committed to Oregon until further notice.”

Four-star Duncanville offensive tackle picks up offer from Texas

Cameron Williams is the latest highly sought-after offensive tackle to come out of Duncanville. Texas joined the party late Wednesday night.

Stop me if you have heard this one before, but Texas is now in the race for a four-star offensive tackle from Duncanville. After whiffing on Savion Byrd last season, the Longhorns will be looking for redemption within the 2022 class.

Cameron Williams is the latest highly sought-after offensive tackle to come out of Duncanville High School. Some of the best programs in the country have extended offers to him. Texas joined the party late Wednesday night.

Williams only has one official visit currently on the schedule, as Oregon will host the offensive tackle on June 4. With how badly of a rebuild Kyle Flood is undergoing, all options are going to be on the table. Texas offered Williams late but should remain as competitive as anybody in the nation.

Ja’Quinden Jackson announces transfer to Utah

Ja’Quinden Jackson announced he would be transferring to Utah. He makes the second UT QB who transferred to Utah during the Tom Herman era.

Texas’ quarterback room took a shot when Ja’Quinden Jackson announced he would be transferring out of the program. The former four-star quarterback was listed as the fourth quarterback on the depth chart when the season began.

Jackson announced he would be transferring to Utah via Twitter early Sunday morning. He makes the second former Longhorns quarterback who changed allegiances to the Utes during the Tom Herman era. Cameron Rising was the first to do so in 2018.

Coming out of high school, Jackson was the No. 3 dual-threat quarterback in the country per the 247Sports composite and a top 10 player within the state of Texas. Jackson came out of Duncanville High School, one of the top programs in the country. He was also recovering from a knee injury suffered in late December at the 6A-DI semifinals.

With Sam Ehlinger more than likely off to the NFL, Jackson would have had to compete with Casey Thompson, Hudson Card, and Charles Wright to be the starting quarterback next season. With him likely being the third favorite to win the job in Austin, Jackson will likely have an easier competition in Salt Lake City for the 2021 season.

Texas’ quarterback room is down to three players with Roschon Johson as an alternative option. While he is focusing on running back full time, Card and Thompson are the two names most likely to battle it out to be the heir to the throne.

Assuming he wins the starting job, Jackson will have the opportunity to face Big 12 competition in 2023 and 2024. Baylor and Utah will have a home and home series, beginning in Waco.

[jwplayer uZffHiR1-PROpJzTY]

Emoni Bates is back on the hardwood tonight as Ypsi Prep travels to the Lone Star state to take on the Panthers of Duncanville High School. This is the second game of Ypsi Prep’s season after the Bulldogs fell to Team Sizzle on Nov. 12.

Emoni Bates and fellow Michigan State recruit Jaden Akins will have another tough challenge containing and keeping pace with Duncanville star Ronald Holland who is a top 20 5-star prospect in the class of 2023. This is something that Ypsi Prep is going to deal with all season long, meeting with the number one player in the 2021 class Chet Holmgren.

Saturday’s game can be watched on two different online streaming services (FloHoops, SUVtv). Both streaming services require a subscription, starting at $10. The game will start at 9 p.m. eastern time.

Emoni Bates and Jaden Akins will look to give Spartan fans even more reasons to be excited for the future of basketball in East Lansing.

LonghornsWire will be looking at each scholarship player listed on the UT roster. Today, we will be looking at fresh. QB Ja’Quinden Jackson.

Going into the 2020 football season, LonghornsWire will be looking at each scholarship player listed on the Texas roster.

Over the summer, each profile will cover where the player is from, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for Tom Herman this season.

Today, we will be looking at freshman quarterback Ja’Quinden Jackson.

Height: 6-2 / Weight: 232

Class: Freshman

Hometown: Dallas, Texas

High School: Duncanville

HS ranking (247Sports): Four-star / No. 46 overall / No. 3 position / No. 7 in-state

HS ranking (Rivals): Four-star / No. 180 overall / No. 5 position / No. 26 in-state

Analysis: Ja’Quinden Jackson comes out of Duncanville High School, one of the best football programs in the country. The No. 3 overall dual-threat quarterback in the 2020 class, Jackson will have his chance at the starting quarterback job next season.

For now, Jackson is still dealing with a partially torn ACL he suffered in December. The freshman recovered throughout the summer and prolonged break and has been back out on the practice field. For now, he stands as the team’s fourth-string quarterback.

A threat in the passing game and the running game, Jackson ran for 1,030 yards and 16 touchdowns his senior year. He took Duncanville all the way to the state semi-final game before suffering his injury. Once he is back to 100% healthy, it will be hard to count him out in next season’s quarterback competition.
