Colts officially sign OT Dennis Kelly among several roster moves

The Colts make the Dennis Kelly signing official, among other roster moves.

The Indianapolis Colts signed offensive tackle Dennis Kelly in addition to making several other roster moves, the team announced Tuesday.

The team also announced that linebacker Malik Jefferson and offensive tackle Shon Coleman were released while tight ends Farrod Green and Eli Wolf were waived from the 90-man roster.

Kelly will come in likely as a swing tackle for the Colts to provide depth on either side of the line.

With Jefferson released, it will be interesting to see how the Colts handle the backup MIKE position behind starter Bobby Okereke.

The additions of rookies Jelani Woods and Andrew Ogletree give the Colts enough depth to part ways with Green and Wolf.

Colts activate LG Quenton Nelson, 4 others from COVID-19 list

The Colts activated 5 players from the COVID-19 list, including Big Q.

The Indianapolis Colts activated five players from the reserve/COVID-19 list, the team announced Wednesday.

Thanks to the new protocols the NFL is using, the Colts are likely to have several of their players return from the COVID-19 list. It’s not a guarantee that all of them will, but the chance of having most of them return is high this week—provided they are asymptomatic.

Head coach Frank Reich told the media that he expects more players to be activated in the coming days.

As the Colts look to clinch a playoff berth with a win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 17, here are the five players that were activated on Wednesday.

Colts’ reserve/COVID-19 list: Which players are currently sidelined?

Here are the Colts’ players currently on the COVID-19 entering Week 17.

The Indianapolis Colts got bit hard by the COVID-19 bug as several starters were placed on the reserve list during the Week 16 prep ahead of the matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.

Even though the Colts overcame those issues to pull out a 22-16 win on the road, there is still a high chance that some of these players who are currently on the list will remain there throughout Week 17.

Some of the players who were placed on the list earlier last week have a chance to return and the Colts will take what they can get at this point. There’s also a chance players are added to and taken off of this list on Monday so we’ll keep it updated throughout the day.

Here’s a quick look at the eight Colts currently on the reserve/COVID-19 list entering Week 17:

Here are 10 players to watch in the Colts’ preseason finale vs. Lions

The Indianapolis Colts have their final preseason game before the 2021 regular season on Friday as they head to Ford Field to visit the Detroit Lions.

While the starters won’t be playing in this game, there are still a number of players battling for roster spots and bigger roles for the final time before rosters are trimmed down to 53 players, which will be by Tuesday afternoon.

Here are 10 players to watch during the preseason finale on Friday:

6 Colts on the roster bubble entering preseason finale

These Colts are on the roster bubble entering the preseason finale.

With the Indianapolis Colts concluding training camp 2021 at the Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield, they have one final preseason game to go against the Detroit Lions.

More importantly, the team has one more opportunity for fringe roster players to impress and earn a role going forward, be that on the active roster or the practice squad.

Head coach Frank Reich said Wednesday that the team will not play starters this game, which provides even more opportunity and snaps for roster bubble players.

Here, we’ll take a look at five players who are on the bubble entering the preseason finale:

Colts elevate TE Farrod Green to active roster

Farrod Green joins the active roster.

The Indianapolis Colts elevated tight end Farrod Green from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of the team’s Week 2 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, the team announced Saturday. The active roster is now at 54 players.

Green was one of the first undrafted rookie free agents to sign with the Colts following the 2020 NFL Draft. He spent the entire offseason with the team, including training camp.

He was waived during the roster cuts before Week 1 but was immediately signed to the practice squad where he has been since.

As starter Jack Doyle has been ruled out for Sunday’s matchup, the Colts needed some depth. Mo Alie-Cox will be the starter followed by Noah Togiai, who was a waiver claim for the Colts after the initial cutdown day. Togiai was inactive for the Week 1 opener.

During Green’s senior year at Mississippi State, he caught 21 passes for 257 yards and a touchdown.
