Giants waive RB Deon Jackson, OL Joshua Miles

The New York Giants have waived RB Deon Jackson and OL Joshua Miles with three players eligible to return from IR this week.

On Monday, the New York Giants waived running back Deon Jackson and offensive lineman Joshua Miles, leaving them with 51 players on the 53-man roster.

Jackson appeared in one game for the Giants after being claimed off waivers from the Cleveland Browns on October 24. He gained two yards on a single carry in Week 9.

Miles was signed off of the Atlanta Falcons practice squad on October 17 but was inactive for each game he was with the team.

Running backs Gary Brightwell and Eric Gray and offensive lineman Matt Peart are all eligible to return from injured reserve (IR) this week and it’s likely those two open roster spots will be filled by a pair of the three.

Meanwhile, kicker Randy Bullock and tight end Tyree Jackson have reverted back to the practice squad.

With no more elevations left for Bullock, the Giants will have to make a decision at kicker. Cade York remains on the active roster for the time being.

Giants injury report: Azeez Ojulari designated to return from IR

New York Giants LB Azeez Ojulari was designated to return from injured reserve (IR) and returned to practice on Wednesday.

The New York Giants returned to the practice field on Wednesday and looked like an entirely different team from just a week ago.

Quarterbacks Daniel Jones (knee) and Tyrod Taylor (ribs) are both on injured reserve, ushering in the era of Tommy DeVito and Matt Barkley, who was signed from the practice squad earlier in the day.

Additionally, right tackle Evan Neal, who suffered a second knee injury in Week 9, is considered “week-to-week” according to head coach Brian Daboll.

On the positive end of things, linebacker Azeez Ojulari was designated to return from injured reserve and returned to practice on Wednesday.

“Hopefully he’ll be ready to go this week,” Daboll said.

The Giants’ full Wednesday injury report can be found below:

Did not participate: OL Evan Neal (knee), CB Adoree’ Jackson (concussion), RB Deon Jackson (concussion), OL Sean Harlow, (personal), NT Dexter Lawrence (rest)

Giants place two on IR, make other roster moves

The New York Giants made a series of roster moves on Tuesday, impacting both their 53-man roster and their practice squad.

The New York Giants made several roster moves on Tuesday, signing veteran kick/punt returner Gunner Olszewski and outside linebacker Justin Hollins to the practice squad.

Offensive tackle Matt Peart (shoulder) and running back Eric Gray (calf) were placed on injured reserve.

In other moves, the Giants added running back Jashuan Corbin to the roster, claiming him off the Carolina Panthers practice squad and claimed running back Deon Jackson, a high school teammate of Andrew Thomas and college teammate of Daniel Jones, off waivers from Cleveland.

The moves should give the Giants a little more stability on special teams, where they have been struggling with what should be second-nature functions.

Corbin spent last season on the Giants’ practice squad after getting cut after training camp. He was elevated to the active roster for one game during the postseason and spent all summer with the team only to get cut again.

Hollins has played in 55 NFL games in his career for the Denver Broncos, Laos Angeles Rams and Green Bay Packers. He won a Super Bowl ring as a member of the Rams.

Browns waive recently signed RB Deon Jackson; open up a roster spot

The Browns have opened a roster spot.

The Cleveland Browns have opened a roster spot. Sitting at 4-2 on the season after a win over the Indianapolis Colts, the Browns have not experienced great quarterback play outside of one game. As a result, they may be looking to add another one to the active roster. For now, running back Deon Jackson has been waived from the active roster after spending just a few days on the 53-man roster.

After exhausting his three elevations from the practice squad, there is reason to believe this move is to make room to sign quarterback P.J. Walker to the active roster. However, with the uncertainty of Deshaun Watson still looming over the franchise, they could also be looking to add another quarterback on the trade market.

Jackson will now be looking for his third team after spending time with both the Browns and the Colts. If he clears waivers, which is likely, there is a solid chance he lands back on the practice squad in Cleveland.

Browns sign Deon Jackson to active roster, promote 2 from practice squad vs. Colts

The Browns have made three moves as they get set to take on the Colts

The Cleveland Browns have made a few roster moves as they get set to take on the Indianapolis Colts tomorrow. After placing guard Michael Dunn on Injured Reserve, the Browns opened up a roster spot to fill. And while many thought that would be the signing of P.J. Walker, the Browns have instead signed running back Deon Jackson to the active roster from the practice squad.

Kareem Hunt entered this week hobbled with a thigh injury, and has a questionable gameday designation. With the signing of Jackson to the active roster, there is reason to wonder whether or not Hunt will play in this game against the Colts. Jackson becomes the fourth running back on the roster behind Hunt, Jerome Ford, and Pierre Strong.

The Browns then made their two gameday elevations from the practice squad. Here are the three roster moves the Browns made today, and one move they still have to make.

Browns add Devin Asiasi among 4 practice squad roster moves

The Browns make a handful of practice squad moves…

The Cleveland Browns enter Week 4 with the chance to see their record soar to the heights of 3-1 if they can take down the Baltimore Ravens. The success they have seen, however, will not stop them from continuing to churn the bottom of their roster and the practice squad every week. To that point, the Browns had six players in for a workout at the end of last week, including former third round tight end Devin Asiasi.

And now, as we sit five days from their game against the Ravens, the Browns have made two signings to their practice squad, resulting in two players getting the axe from their reserve unit as well. We saw this all of last year as well, as the Browns frequently tinkered with their practice squad as the season ticked along.

Here are the four moves the Browns made to their practice squad as a monstrous Ravens week gets underway in Cleveland.

Colts sign RB Trey Sermon, release RB Deon Jackson

The Colts elevated Trey Sermon from the practice squad and released Deon Jackson.

The Indianapolis Colts are signing running back Trey Sermon to the active roster from the practice squad and are releasing running back Deon Jackson, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Jackson served as the starting running back in Week 1 but struggled mightily between the tackles. When Zack Moss returned in Week 2, he took every snap and carry out of the backfield.

Sermon was signed to the practice squad at the beginning of the week, and head coach Shane Steichen must feel comfortable enough to have him serve as the backup to Moss. It helps that Sermon worked with Steichen as a part of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022.

It’s expected that Moss will continue to see the majority of the work in the backfield but considering the weather conditions set to hit Baltimore on Sunday, Sermon could find his way onto the field.

Stock report from Colts’ 31-21 loss to Jaguars in Week 1

Here’s the stock report from the Colts’ loss in Week 1 to the Jaguars.

The Indianapolis Colts (0-1) kicked off the 2023 campaign with a 31-21 loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-0) at Lucas Oil Stadium in Week 1.

While they fell short of pulling off an upset, the Colts showed plenty of fight and competitiveness until too many mistakes got in their way late in the fourth quarter.

When taking stock of a player’s performance, it’s best to be fluid. A player’s stock will fall and rise throughout the season so none of this is set in stone. However, it is important to take note of the narratives and storylines taking place as the campaign progresses.

A player’s stock can be impacted by factors such as their performance or the type of snaps they receive during the games.

Here’s a look at the stock report for the Colts following the Week 1 loss:
