Penn State in top five of 2024 four-star LB

Penn State sits in top five for coveted linebacker in Class of 2024.

It’s been a great run so far for [autotag]James Franklin[/autotag] and his staff during the recruiting process of the 2024 class. They currently sit at 13 commitments in the class which pushes them to the sixth overall spot in 247Sports’ national recruiting database.

Despite the success they’ve had so far, they are not slowing down and are looking to continue adding talent to the roster for next season. Summer visits are coming up for the prospects in the class who have wanted to take more time before deciding on where they’ll play next season.

There are already two linebackers committed to Penn State in the class of 2024, but that is not stopping them from continuing to recruit the position.

On Sunday, four-star linebacker Elias Rudolph cut his list down to his top five schools. The talented prospect had over 20 scholarship offers to sift through before deciding on his top five.

Penn State made the list along with Ohio State, Michigan, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati.

Rudolph is a 6’3″ 200 pound prospect from Florida. He is ranked as the 260th best player in the 2024 class and the 29th best linebacker according to On3’s industry rankings.

He has visited Ohio State the most times with four unofficial visits. However, On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has Michigan as the big favorites to land Rudolph with a 83.3% chance. Ohio State is second with an 8.1% chance, but has been projected to land him by 247Sports’ Crystal Ball.

Penn State has been given a less than one percent chance to land the coveted linebacker, although when he spoke with On3 after his visit in January, it seems like the Nittany Lions have a much larger chance than that number.

Rudolph said, “Coach Franklin stood out the most on this visit. I love his energy and how he is raw and uncut. I liked seeing that Coach Franklin has a genuine passion for his athletes as men.”

He also said, “Another thing that stood out to me is Penn State’s alumni and fan base and the incredible amount of people interested in Penn State sports. The coaching staff left a good impression. They showed me Coach Franklin’s character. Penn State is a sound program and I loved the facility.”

Rudolph has official visits schedule for Ohio State, Michigan and Cincinnati in June. There is nothing booked for Penn State yet, but he did mention that he plans to visit all the schools on his top five list.

Ohio State in top five for four-star defensive end

An Ohio native takes one step closer to returning home. #GoBucks

Ohio State is still in the running for a highly coveted edge rusher. Elias Rudolph, a four-star recruit, listed the Buckeyes in his narrowed list of five.

Rudolph is originally from Cincinnati, where he played at Taft High School through his junior year. Since then, Rudolph has relocated to Deerfield Beach, Florida. OSU has been hot on his trail for some time now.

The Ohio native is listed as the No. 20 edge rusher in the nation according to 247Sports composite rankings. Other schools joining Ohio State in Rudolph’s shortlist are Cincinnati, Michigan, Penn State, and Pitt.

Rudolph visited Ohio State last June where he impressed coaches and earned a scholarship offer. He had the fasted three-cone drill time of all linemen in attendance at 7.6 seconds and also ran a 4.7-second forty-yard dash.

At this point, things are looking good for the Buckeyes. Both 247Sports and On3 have OSU as the leader to land Rudolph’s services.

Michigan football in top five for 2024 elite 4-star edge defender

The four-star edge defender put #Michigan in his top five, and will visit the Wolverines in June.

Michigan football continues to tear up the 2024 recruiting cycle. The Wolverines recently landed the services of linebacker Cole Sullivan who picked Michigan over rival Notre Dame.

It’s only May and Michigan currently has 17 commitments for the 2024 cycle and the maize and blue have plenty of other recruits that are either predicted to go to the Wolverines, or have high interest in Michigan. It appears the Wolverines aren’t slowing down anytime soon.

One of those players who has a big-time interest in Michigan is 2024 four-star edge defender, Elias Rudolph. On Sunday, he put the Wolverines in his top five with Penn State, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati.

Rudolph, who originally played high school football at Cincinnati (Ohio) Taft, is now finishing his senior season in Deerfield Beach (Florida). According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Rudolph is the 230th-ranked prospect in the country. He is the 20th-ranked edge defender and the 36th-best prospect in Florida. Rudolph has the size to compete at the next level standing at 6-foot-4 and 205-pounds.

There is currently one Crystal Ball on Rudolph to land at Ohio State, which is from an Ohio State insider. According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Buckeyes are leading with a 41% chance to land Rudolph with Michigan in second with 20.7%.

Rudolph is slated to take an official visit to Ann Arbor on June 9.

Ohio 2024 tight end has home state Buckeyes in top group

Keep him home! #GoBucks

The Ohio State football program loves to keep top talent staying home and as one of the most talent-rich high school football states in the country, it’s a good option for the program. Head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] has been selective about which Ohioans he goes hard after due to the vast national reach the Buckeye program has.

One of those select instate players that has an OSU offer is 2024 tight end [autotag]Elias Rudolph[/autotag], who released a list of schools that he will be considering going forward. Ohio State made the cut along with Penn State, Michigan State, [autotag]Kentucky[/autotag], Tennessee, Michigan, and a few others.

With Cade Stover returning, the position is in very good hands for the 2023 season, but not much experience behind him. There is an opportunity for early playing time for Rudolph if he opts to play for Ohio State and that most likely is a big selling point for Day.

Clemson ‘favorite school’ of 4-star Ohio edge rusher

A highly regarded Ohio defensive lineman is highly interested in Dabo Swinney’s program.

In fact, Clemson is the favorite school of Elias Rudolph, a four-star defensive end in the 2024 class from Taft High School in Cincinnati.

“Clemson is actually my favorite school in college,” Rudolph told The Clemson Insider recently.

“I like everything about Clemson – the color, the football atmosphere, the location. It’s just a school that I admire. I don’t watch too much of college football, but a Clemson game, that’s a game I’m wanting to see.”

Swinney is a head coach that the 6-foot-5, 215-pound junior can see himself suiting up for in the future.

“He’s a good coach,” Rudolph said. “He’s a real good defensive line coach, so I can see myself playing for him, just to get better and develop my craft.”

Another thing about Clemson that appeals to Rudolph – the nation’s No. 16 edge recruit and No. 181 overall prospect in the 2024 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings – is the fact the Tigers have consistently produced NFL defensive ends over the years.

“That’s good to know that my favorite school is sending players that play at my position to the league,” he said. “So, that’s definitely a school I can see myself playing at.”

Rudolph has never made the long-distance trip to Tiger Town from the Buckeye State, but he would jump at the chance to visit Clemson if the opportunity presents itself moving forward.

“If I get the chance, I’m coming down to see Clemson,” he said. “That’s an opportunity I wanna take.”

Rudolph said he recorded nine tackles and three sacks in his team’s season-opening victory last week. His goal is to finish his junior campaign with at least 20 sacks and 100-plus tackles.

“My effort is outstanding,” he said, describing himself as an edge rusher. “Every play I play, I’m going to give it 110 percent. That’s what I think my best factor is. But I’m a speed rusher, so I get to the backfield real quick, and I know how to read the ball, where the ball’s at and read the offense to see different personnel.”

Schools such as Ohio State, Cincinnati, Michigan, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia have offered Rudolph, who said he’s “trying to let this process play out” as far as his recruitment and decision timeline.

“Probably after my junior year, or if my junior year doesn’t seem like a good time to make that decision, I’m going to wait till after my senior year or before, like during the middle of the season,” he explained.

What is Rudolph looking for as he goes through the recruiting process and tries to find a home at the next level?

“Mainly I pay attention to the effort a school takes in recruiting me, and I can tell the difference from a coach recruiting me as a football player or a coach that can genuinely be there for me as a human being and develop me inside and outside of football,” he said. “When I make that college decision, I want to be able to call this college my home.”

Iowa Hawkeyes offer one of Ohio’s best, 2024 EDGE Elias Rudolph

Elias Rudolph could be the next great pass-rusher in Iowa City. The Hawkeyes offered the Ohio product last week.

Iowa is off to a hot start in its 2024 recruiting class. Now, the Hawkeyes have set their sights on one of the top recruits in Ohio.

Elias Rudolph received an offer from the University of Iowa. It is the 17th offer the 6-foot-4, 220 pound defensive end from Taft High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, has received.

Currently, Iowa is battling it out with fellow Big Ten rivals Michigan and Purdue for Rudolph’s commitment, both of which already offered a scholarship to the four-star recruit.

Cincinnati will look to keep Rudolph in his native city, while Miami (Ohio), Toledo, Kent State, and Bowling Green are all also looking to keep one of Ohio’s top-ten recruits in 2024 in state. It should be noted that while they haven’t offered a scholarship yet, Ohio State does have interest.

According to On3, Rudolph is a four-star edge rusher and lists him as the country’s No. 162 player overall. On3 rates Rudolph as the 14th-ranked edge rusher in the country and the eighth-best prospect in the Buckeye State.

247Sports also has Rudolph as a four-star recruit, and the No. 207 player nationally. He is their 16th-ranked edge rusher, but the sixth-best prospect in Ohio.

Lastly, Rivals also lists Rudolph as a four-star talent. Rivals regards Rudolph as the nation’s No. 241 player overall, the No. 13 weak side defensive end and the No. 3 player from Ohio.

Iowa already has four commitments in its 2024 recruiting class. Offensive lineman Cody Fox, linebacker Cam Buffington and athletes Derek Weisskopf and Preston Ries have committed to the Hawkeyes.

All of those commitments are in-state products and they represent four of the top five players from the state of Iowa according to 247Sports. The Hawkeyes are a program that sends defensive ends to the NFL. Both Anthony Nelson and Chauncey Golston were drafted in recent years, and Zach VanValkenburg found an NFL roster this offseason.

They would look to develop a highly-touted recruit like Rudolph to be the next in line. Here’s a look at Rudolph’s sophomore season Hudl highlights at Taft High School.

2024 Cincinnati prospect receives second SEC offer from Vols

A 2024 Cincinnati prospect has received his second SEC offer from Tennessee.

2024 prospect Elias Rudolph has received a scholarship offer from the Vols. The offer is Rudolph’s second offer from a Southeastern Conference school.

“Excited to receive another offer from the University of Tennessee,” Rudolph announced.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Rudolph is from Taft Information Technology High School in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Rudolph has played as an edge rusher and tight end in high school.

He has scholarship offers from Tennessee, Boston College, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Miami University, Pittsburgh, Toledo and West Virginia.

Below are highlights of Rudolph.
