Is Zack Baun playing today? Injury updates for Eagles linebacker

Zack Baun (shoulder) missed practice on Wednesday but was a full participant on Thursday and Friday and will start alongside Nakobe Dean.

The Eagles (4-2) are in Cincinnati for an exciting matchup against the Bengals (3-4) at Paycor Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Philadelphia’s explosive offense will not be at full strength again as right guard Mekhi Becton (concussion) and tight end Dallas Goedert (hamstring) will be out for Sunday’s game.

Becton suffered the concussion last Sunday against the Giants and was replaced by Tyler Steen, while Goedert will miss his second straight contest.

One positive for Philadelphia is the status of linebacker Zack Baun.

Baun (shoulder) missed practice on Wednesday but was a full participant on Thursday and Friday and will start alongside Nakobe Dean. Backup cornerback Eli Ricks (groin) was upgraded to a full participant on Friday after being limited on Wednesday and Thursday.

Backup defensive tackle Byron Young was also ruled out for Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury, and Young was placed on injured reserve.

Star wide receiver Tee Higgins was added to the injury report Friday for the Bengals as a limited participant. He suffered a quadriceps injury and is questionable for Sunday’s game. Higgins missed the first two games of the season with a hamstring injury.

In Saquon Barkley’s first game against his former team, the running back logged 17 carries for 176 yards (10.4 avg) and one touchdown on the afternoon.  Barkley finished 14 yards shy of his career-high yards in a game and placed himself firmly back into the race for the NFL rushing title and the league’s Offensive Player of the Year award.

The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a disastrous 33-16 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

With A.J. Brown (hamstring), DeVonta Smith (concussion), and Lane Johnson (concussion) out with injuries, the Eagles didn’t have enough depth in key positions. They suffered a disastrous 33-16 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Jalen Hurts was sacked six times on the afternoon, and the star quarterback committed another turnover (fumble), as Philadelphia could not sustain any offensive consistency without the big three in the lineup.

Saquon Barkley had ten carries for 84 yards (8.4 avg). Still, with the Eagles playing from behind all afternoon, the running back was unable to get the Philadelphia offense over the hump against a motivated Tampa defense.

An Eagles defense that shut New Orleans down in Week 3 was gashed to 445 total yards for the Buccaneers offense, including 111 rushing yards and a twelve-minute advantage in time of possession.

Baker Mayfield was on fire early, and even after an inefficient second half, he still was 30-40 passing for 347 yards, two touchdowns, and a 100.2 rating.

Philadelphia (2-2) will now have a week off, during which questions about Sirianni’s job security and the Eagles’ playoff hopes will dominate the airwaves.

Primarily a punt returner, Covey joined DeVonta Smith and Jahan Dotson for the second snap, lined up as an outside receiver. Covey had two catches in the first half, for six yards on two targets.

At this rate the Eagles best offensive play is Jalen Hurts running. Hurts has 47 yards rushing on the Eagles final drive of the half. Hurts was 9-13 passing for 70 yards and one touchdown. He had six carries for 51 yards rushing.

Smith was going to be the focal point of the Eagles offense with A.J. Brown out and the Heisman Trophy winner rose to the occasion. Smith had three catches for 30 yards and a touchdown on the Eagles four possessions.
