Value is an integral part of the draft process. Understanding the board is vital to judging how teams maximized value during the draft.

Establishing actual “value” on NFL draft prospects is incredibly difficult, with all 32 NFL teams having different schemes, cultures, and ideas of what elite talent looks like.

Arif Hasan of Wide Left Football creates the go-to consensus board, ranking the top 300 players in the draft class based on 101 big boards from draft analysts. As Hasan noted, “the consensus of these experts does a better predictive job than individual experts.”

With the draft now final, here are Philadelphia’s picks, their consensus rank, their pick number, and the difference between the two.

The Eagles shared a heartwarming photo of draft pick Jeremiah Trotter Jr. with his dad, a Philly legend

The Eagles adding Jeremiah Trotter Jr. was awesome.

The Philadelphia Eagles made history on Saturday by drafting the son of one of its best-ever defensive players.

In the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Eagles drafted Clemson linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr., the son of former Eagles linebacker Jeremiah Trotter.

The elder Trotter started his career with the Eagles in 1998 and played there through 2001, later making a return in 2004 and playing there through 2006. He also spent his final season in 2009 with Philadelphia.

Now, the younger Trotter will start his professional career where his dad made his legacy.

With news of the pick, the Eagles shared a heartwarming photo of both Trotters on the field, Trotter Jr. just a baby wearing an Eagles beanie.

That’s just adorable.

Just like the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Joey Porter’s son, Joey Porter Jr., in last year’s draft, the Eagles paid tribute to their franchise history in such a neat way during Saturday’s last day of the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Philadelphia Eagles selected Clemson linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. with pick No. 155 in the 2024 NFL Draft

In the days before the draft, Howie Roseman discussed legacy and the urgency of potentially drafting the children of former Eagles.

On Saturday, Roseman kept his word, trading up to select Jeremiah Trotter with pick No. 155 of the 2024 NFL draft.

After watching elite linebackers dominate the AFC and NFC divisional rounds, Eagles GM Howie Roseman finally landed a talented and rangy linebacker.

Clemson’s All-American defender is the son of former Philadelphia linebacker Jeremiah Trotter.

In 2022, Trotter Jr. had 91 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 8.5 tackles for loss, seven pass breakups, two interceptions, and a forced fumble.

His 88 tackles (54 solo), 5½ sacks, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles made him a Butkus Award finalist this season.

2024 NFL mock draft: Eagles add elite depth at the cornerback, safety position

We’re doing a 2024 NFL mock draft roundup, and the Philadelphia Eagles are projected to add depth at cornerback and safety

The Eagles are 11-6 and looking for a reset entering the playoffs after a 27-10 loss to the Giants in the season finale.

Even with Nick Sirianni’s team clinching a playoff berth for the third straight year, it’s never too early to look ahead at the NFL draft, and with so many holes on defense, Howie Roseman has the assets to retool the roster.

Philadelphia has never drafted an off-the-ball linebacker in the first round, and they won’t this spring either, but Howie Roseman will reload in the trenches and could get a familiar name in the second round.

We’re looking ahead, and mock draft roundups have the Birds restocking in the trenches or the secondary.

Texans go with Texas WR Xavier Worthy in Draft Wire 2-round mock

The Houston Texans bolster their receiving corps with Texas’ Xavier Worthy in the latest Draft Wire mock.

One area where the Houston Texans could stand to keep getting younger and more talented is receiver.

Although the Texans seem to have found their top two targets in 2023 with Nico Collins and Robert Woods, there are long-term questions surrounding the duo. How much high level production does Woods, 31, still have left? While Collins flashes dominance, is it consistent enough to justify a second contract when his deal expires at the end of 2024?

The Texans can solve the problem with a first-round wideout, which is precisely what Curt Popejoy has them doing in the latest two-round mock from the Draft Wire. Using the Cleveland Browns’ first-rounder at No. 17 overall — obtained via 2022 offseason trade — the Texans pick Texas receiver Xavier Worthy.

Adding the Fresno Central East High School alumnus to the corps would overcrowd it in the beginning. However, getting a look at what Woods had to offer throughout offseason workouts and the trajectory of Collins to that point would give the Texans an idea of whether to use a pick on Worthy, who would join a young crop that included Tank Dell and John Metchie.

With the Texans’ proprietary second-round pick at No. 34 overall, Houston takes Clemson linebacker Jeremiah Trotter, son of the former Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Washington All-Pro linebacker. The Texans’ linebacking corps is stacked enough as is with Christian Harris, Henry To’oTo’o, and Denzel Perryman. If Houston were to add another linebacker that early in the draft, it would be to foment competition.

Swinney updates Trotter’s injury status

Clemson is dealing with an injury at an already-depeleted position group.

Clemson already had a depleted linebacker room entering fall camp, and now the Tigers are dealing with an injury to one of their star players at the position.

Junior linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. has a hamstring injury, prompting him to miss Wednesday’s scrimmage, head coach Dabo Swinney said.

Although Trotter is missing some time, Swinney said the team is just being cautious.

“He’s good, he’s rolling. If we played today, he would be playing,” Swinney said.

Trotter, an All-America linebacker last season, had an impressive sophomore campaign in 2022, finishing with 89 total tackles, 6.5 sacks, two interceptions and one forced fumble. But with just six linebackers in the rotation, his injury adds even more uncertainty at the position.

The Tigers’ linebacker room took a significant hit in July when Clemson dismissed TJ Dudley from the team for breaking team rules. Dudley, a former four-star recruit, was poised to compete for substantial playing time and possibly even a starting spot.

Besides Trotter and Carter, Wade Woodaz is the only linebacker on Clemson’s roster with significant game experience, and he only has one start.

Linebacker Barrett Carter and several of the “high-snap” players, like Tyler Davis and Xavier Thomas, were also held out of the scrimmage, Swinney added. He said that Trotter and Carter’s absence allowed some of the younger and more inexperienced players to make a mark for themselves in the scrimmage.

Eagles land Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in Todd McShay’s early 2024 NFL draft first-round mock

Philadelphia Eagles land a familiar name in Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in Todd McShay’s early 2024 NFL draft first-round predictions

In Todd McShay’s first 2024 NFL mock draft for ESPN, the rich get richer in a familiar way by drafting Jeremiah Trotter Jr.

Philadelphia doesn’t typically draft linebackers this early, but Trotter Jr. is no ordinary player.

Porter went to the team that drafted his dad back in 1999 (Pittsburgh) this year, so why not project Trotter to go to the team that selected his dad in 1998 next year? The younger Trotter is coming off a great season and could join Nakobe Dean to fill the hole left up the middle after the departures of T.J. Edwards and Kyzir White. He has great instincts and 6-foot, 230-pound size. He does it all.

The Tigers Preseason All-American is the son of former Philadelphia linebacker Jeremiah Trotter.

Drafted in the third round out of Stephen F. Austin University in 1998, Trotter was the Eagles’ starting middle linebacker by his second NFL season. From 1999-2001, Trotter led the team in tackles while being selected as a first-team All-Pro in 2000 and a second-teamer in 2001.

Trotter re-signed with the Eagles in 2004, helping Philadelphia reach their first Super Bowl since the 1980 season and making his third Pro Bowl appearance. He earned another Pro Bowl again in 2005 but was cut after the 2006 season.

Trotter Jr. had 91 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 8.5 tackles for loss, seven pass breakups, two interceptions, and a forced fumble last year at Clemson, and would give Sean Desai the three-down linebacker that most franchises can only dream about.
