Yahoo Sports has five Ohio State players projected to be selected in NFL draft’s first round

A handful of Buckeye 1st rounders?!? #GoBucks

The majority of NFL mock drafts have at least three Ohio State Buckeyes being selected in the first round. Those three are normally quarterback [autotag]C.J. Stroud[/autotag], offensive tackle [autotag]Paris Johnson Jr.[/autotag] and wide receiver [autotag]Jaxon Smith-Njigba[/autotag].

While other OSU standouts, such as defensive end [autotag]Zach Harrison[/autotag], expect to hear their name called, those choices aren’t on the first day.

Yahoo Sports thinks there might be a couple more Buckeyes that get selected in the first round according to their latest mock draft. Charles McDonald has five OSU players getting selected in the first round. Find out who they are and where McDonald thinks they’ll land below.

Ranking Big Ten teams by number of 2023 NFL scouting combine invites

A look at every Big Ten team and the players that received invites to this year’s NFL Scouting Combine. #NFLdraft

Now that all the hubbub of the Super Bowl is over, you can bet that all attention will now focus on the upcoming NFL draft in professional football circles. We’re going to hear rumors, get every so-called expert’s mock drafts, and then slice them and dice them a thousand ways to Sunday.

And more.

But before all of that, there’s this little thing called the NFL Scouting Combine that will take place next week. It begins on Tuesday, February 28, and goes through Monday, March 6.

Ohio State has historically sent a ton of players to the combine and on into the NFL draft every year, and that’s certainly still the case for 2023 with eight Buckeyes invited to take part in all of the festivities in Indianapolis.

But where does Ohio State rank among all Big Ten programs when it comes to sending players to the combine this year? Does Michigan have more with the success it’s had the last couple of years? What about Penn State?

Here are all Big Ten teams ranked by the number of players that have been invited to the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine along with a complete list of each player. We count down from the least to greatest.

The Athletic projects three Ohio State Buckeyes to be selected in first round of 2023 NFL draft

We have one main complaint about this draft projection from The Athletic. #GoBucks

[autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] football is one of the most successful at getting their players to the next level and the 2023 NFL draft should not be any different.

Multiple Buckeyes expect their name to be called early and some of them should be off teams’ boards during the first round of the draft.

The Athletic, like many other outlets, is constantly updating its mock drafts and just recently made its choices (subscription required). The Athletic is unique: It used its college football writers to make the selections based on their information.

Three Buckeyes were selected and you can find out below where each of them is projected to land along with my conclusion at the end.

Eight Ohio State players invited to this year’s NFL scouting combine

C.J. Stroud leads eight Buckeyes invited to the NFL Combine. #GoBucks

The Ohio State football program is an NFL factory second to none in college football, and that’s about to be realized again.

That’s because it’s about the time of year when we start to hype the upcoming NFL draft more than usual. The Super Bowl is just a few days away, and after that, it’ll be all draft all the time if you’re an NFL fan.

Part of the shenanigans includes the annual NFL scouting combine that takes place in Indianapolis. Some of the so-called shoo-in draftees will be poked, prodded and measured through various interviews and skills assessments to provide a better look to NFL scouts and executives.

There is always a significant contingent of Ohio State players that take part in all the hoopla, and that’s the case again. This year, eight Buckeyes will head to Lucas Oil Stadium from Thursday, March 2, through Sunday, March 5.

Here’s a look at all eight players and a brief outlook on each.

Ohio State receives a crystal ball projection for recently offered offensive lineman

This Ohioan is trending to stay home #GoBucks

If there is one position Ohio State missed on during the 2023 recruiting cycle that makes the need in 2024 that much greater, it’s offensive tackle.

The Buckeyes signed Luke Montgomery, Joshua Padilla, Austin Siereveld, and Miles Walker as their offensive line group this past class, with Montgomery expected to be a guy in the mix. Walker is viewed as a viable tackle option as well, but he was the lowest-rated player in the class, so the Connecticut native is viewed as more of a project.

With three starters moving on along the offensive line from last season, that means the need is there for head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] and offensive line coach [autotag]Justin Frye[/autotag] to rectify the situation in 2024. The good news is Bill Kurelic of 247Sports, an Ohio State insider, logged a crystal ball projection for in-state lineman [autotag]Marc Nave Jr.[/autotag] to join the Buckeye class.

The 6-foot, 5-inch, 315-pounder was offered this past week Nave Jr. played mostly guard in high school and he doesn’t have the prototypical size for a left tackle, he sure does for right tackle, boasting a 6-foot, 9-inch wingspan. He also has enough versatility to shuffle inside or outside like the Buckeye coaching staff has done in the past with [autotag]Paris Johnson Jr.[/autotag] and [autotag]Dawand Jones[/autotag] before moving them back to the outside.

It’s good news that Kurelic believes that Nave will end up with the Buckeyes; he is one of the most respected Ohio State insiders in the business.

7 offensive line prospects for the Eagles to watch at 2023 Senior Bowl

7 offensive line prospects for the Philadelphia Eagles to watch at the 2023 Senior Bowl

The NFL draft starts in Mobile, and even with the Eagles preparing to face the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII, all eyes this week will be on Alabama, for the 2023 Reese’s Senior Bowl.

Philadelphia has Andre Dillard (LT) and Isaac Seumalo (OG) set to hit unrestricted free agency, and Jason Kelce could decide to retire.

With kickoff from Mobile quickly approaching, here are seven offensive line prospects to watch at the Senior Bowl on Saturday.

Senior Bowl: Tyler’s top 10 performers this week

After a grueling week of practice, @TheRealForno breaks down his top-10 performers from the Senior Bowl

The 2023 Senior Bowl has finished up the practice portion of the week and it was a great one.

Practice usually stands out in multiple ways, especially considering the unique nature of practice. It’s a lot of individual drills that help players standout by focusing on the things that each position prioritizes.

During practice, there were a lot of players that stood out, but 10 stood out more than the rest. Here are my top 10 players from practice this week.

Is Ohio State one of 10 schools post-signing day with title aspirations?

Will Ohio State be in the title mix once again? #GoBucks

If you have been locked away for the past 10 years, this headline would be a surprise. but almost every year [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] is in the mix for a national title. This past season, the Buckeyes were the only team that ultimately threatened Georgia, the eventual College Football Playoff champions.

The 2023 version of the Buckeyes may look like a group that’s going through a transition, but [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag]’s team doesn’t rebuild, it reloads. The loss of quarterback [autotag]C.J. Stroud[/autotag] and offensive tackles [autotag]Paris Johnson Jr.[/autotag] and [autotag]Dawand Jones[/autotag] will be tough to overcome, but that is normal procedure in college football.

As signing day has come to a close, 247Sports looked at 10 teams who have title potential this season. Find out below which schools could contend for a CFP title according to 247Sports and a quick takeaway for each.

Ohio State offensive tackle Dawand Jones sets a Senior Bowl record

Dawand Jones certainly looks like a first-round pick.

Ohio State offensive tackle Dawand Jones is a large man. The 21-year-old Buckeye measured in at 6-foot-8 and weighed 375 pounds at the Reese’s Senior Bowl this week.

In addition, Jones set a new Senior Bowl record with an 89.5″ wingspan. Oh, there’s more, Jones’ arms measured in at 36 5/8″.

Jones didn’t just flash before practice, either. Once practice began, Jones routinely stood out.

Check out this rep:

Those types of reps were normal for Jones on Tuesday. The following rep is against an impressive pass rusher in Andre Carter, from Army. Watch how easy this was for Jones. The play earned him praise from one of the NFL’s best head coaches Pittsburgh’s Mike Tomlin.

The Washington Commanders need plenty of help along the offensive line. While the Commanders, at pick No. 16, may be a bit too low for Jones’ teammate, Paris Johnson, or Broderick Jones and Peter Skoronski, perhaps Dawand Jones becomes a legitimate option for them.

Washington started a combination of Cornelius Lucas and Sam Cosmi at right tackle in 2022. Many believe Cosmi’s NFL future is inside at guard. If the Commanders selected Dawand Jones, he’s the day one starter at right tackle.

10 potential Chargers targets to watch during Senior Bowl week: Offense

Highlighting a handful of offensive players at the Senior Bowl who could be on the Chargers’ radar.

The last major all-star game of the circuit, Mobile’s Senior Bowl, has become a football pilgrimage for many players and media members alike.

Chargers quarterbacks Justin Herbert is a Senior Bowl alum, as is 2022 first-round pick Zion Johnson. Los Angeles has historically used the event as a guideline, drafting at least four participants in Mobile in each of the last three seasons.

Here are ten offensive prospects who could join the club with a strong week in Alabama.
