Colts worked out WR Anthony Miller, 3 DBs

The Colts held a workout for four players.

The Indianapolis Colts held a tryout for one wide receiver and three defensive backs, according to the league’s transaction wire Monday.

Working out for the Colts included wide receiver Anthony Miller, cornerback Don Gardner, safety Myles Dorn and cornerback Cameron Brown.

The Colts may be looking for some depth in the secondary after losing starter Dallis Flowers to a torn Achilles in Week 4, which has forced rookie Jaylon Jones into the No. 3 cornerback role.

Miller, 29, was a second-round pick with the Chicago Bears in the 2018 NFL draft. In 50 career games (18 starts), Miller has 150 receptions for 1,589 yards and 12 touchdowns.

2023 NFL draft: Analyzing the Chargers’ UDFA class

The Chargers are hoping to land a hidden gem or two in 2023.

The rookie class doesn’t end with the final selection. In fact, the announcement of Mr. Irrelevant only kicks off a more frenzied event: the undrafted free agent (UDFA) scramble.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the Chargers’ rookie free-agent signings.

Former Buckeye signs as undrafted free agent with Chargers

Former Buckeye signs as undrafted free agent with Chargers #GoBucks

The 2023 NFL draft is in the books, and some homeless Ohio State football players are waiting to be signed. Going undrafted is often better than being selected in the seventh round because at least as an undrafted free agent, you are free to choose your team.

A number of successful former Ohio State Buckeyes have gone undrafted, including Corey Brown, Andrew Norwell and Jake McQuaide. There will most definitely be one that sticks in this class. The most recent former Ohio State player to sign is Cameron Brown with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Brown arrived in Columbus as a four-star recruit and his career was less than spectacular in large part due to injuries. Brown left Ohio State with two seasons of starts under his belt, and he has the potential to stick at the next level. It was not a shock that Brown went undrafted, but we are happy he landed in the NFL and we wish him good luck.

Bengals to meet with Buckeyes CB Cameron Brown before NFL draft

Another notable draft nugget for the Bengals.

The Cincinnati Bengals will meet with Ohio State CB Cameron Brown before the NFL Draft.

This was reported by Dan Hope of Eleven Warriors on Wednesday during Ohio State’s pro day which was attended by Bengals director of player personnel, Duke Tobin.

While Brown hasn’t been getting much love in mock drafts over the offseason, and could be looking at being an undrafted free agent, he could still be depth at a position of need for the Bengals.

Brown has battled through injuries in each of his last three seasons at Ohio State, but not knowing where CBs Eli Apple and Tre Flowers will sign, and losing safeties Jessie Bates and Vonn Bell to free agency, the Bengals are exploring all of their possible options in the secondary.

Amani Oruwariye is teaming up with Saquon Barkley with Giants

Former Penn State player signs free agent contract with New York Giants

NFL free agency started off with a frenzy and the signings continue to help shape rosters around the league just ahead of the 2023 NFL draft. And while we sit and wait to see where the most recent draft class from Penn State will be heading in the NFL, a handful of former Nittany Lions have already been on the move as NFL free agents. [autotag]Amani Oruwariye[/autotag] is one of the latest former Nittany Lions to sign a new contract, and he’ll be joining a couple of former Penn State players with his new team.

Oruwariye signed a one-year contract with the New York Giants, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. The terms of the contract have not been revealed just yet, but this is a low-risk signing for the Giants that allows Oruwariye to showcase himself a bit in hopes of earning a better contract a year from now on the market.

Oruwariye is entering his fifth season in the NFL after completing a four-year run with the Detroit Lions. The Lions addressed the cornerback position with a big free agent signing with the addition of C.J. Gardner-Johnson, most recently with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Lions added Gardner-Johnson on a one-year deal at a higher price tag than it would have cost to keep

Oruwariye was a fifth-round draft pick of the Lions in 2019. A first-team All-Big Ten player in 2018 and second-team All-Big Ten selection in 2017 will be reunited in New York with former Penn State teammates [autotag]Saquon Barkley[/autotag] and [autotag]Cameron Brown[/autotag]. Barkley signed a one-year contract with the Giants on a franchise tag to remain in New York for the 2023 season. Brown is entering the fourth year of his four-year contract in 2023 before entering free agency in 2024.

Oruwariye has recorded 173 tackles and nine interceptions in his four-year NFL career so far.

Former Ohio State player has sour grapes about recent Michigan football losses

Sit down. Be humble. #GoBlue

You know what they say: scoreboard. Yet, one former Ohio State Buckeye doesn’t seem to care about that.

OSU cornerback Cameron Brown doesn’t seem to care much that he lost the past two games to rival Michigan. Speaking to reporters at the NFL combine last week, Brown doesn’t think those Wolverines who have bragging rights after the 42-27 win in Ann Arbor in 2021 or the 45-23 win in Columbus in 2022 can really say anything to him, given the decade-plus where the maize and blue struggled against the scarlet and gray.

Via Cleveland.com:

Brown had plenty to say into his when pondering the rivalry’s return next season. He said the Michigan players “can’t talk to me much,” implying that the Wolverines still aren’t on his level despite claiming two straight wins. And watching Michigan celebrate both like it had won something bigger than one game – parading around the field, planting their flag at midfield in Columbus – struck Brown as funny.

“They won two games in the last 15,” Brown said, “They got it. They can have that.”

Michigan had won something bigger than one game in each contest: It  earned the Big Ten East division title with both wins, which propelled it to the Big Ten Championship game and eventually the College Football Playoff.

Brown appears to simply be coping with the fact that he departs Columbus with a 2-2 record against his chief rival. PFF shows he posted a middling 64.9 grade against the Wolverines in the 2022 game with an abysmal 48.2 tackling grade and a 55.5 grade in 2021 — his second-worst marks of that season.

But where he likely has the most sour grapes is that this is how he’ll effectively be remembered in the rivalry:

Or whiffing on this tackle which led to Michigan’s first touchdown in 2022:

So, for Brown, perhaps a little humility is in order.

Eight Ohio State players invited to this year’s NFL scouting combine

C.J. Stroud leads eight Buckeyes invited to the NFL Combine. #GoBucks

The Ohio State football program is an NFL factory second to none in college football, and that’s about to be realized again.

That’s because it’s about the time of year when we start to hype the upcoming NFL draft more than usual. The Super Bowl is just a few days away, and after that, it’ll be all draft all the time if you’re an NFL fan.

Part of the shenanigans includes the annual NFL scouting combine that takes place in Indianapolis. Some of the so-called shoo-in draftees will be poked, prodded and measured through various interviews and skills assessments to provide a better look to NFL scouts and executives.

There is always a significant contingent of Ohio State players that take part in all the hoopla, and that’s the case again. This year, eight Buckeyes will head to Lucas Oil Stadium from Thursday, March 2, through Sunday, March 5.

Here’s a look at all eight players and a brief outlook on each.
