Injury Report: Warriors’ Draymond Green (thigh), Damion Lee (hip) questionable vs. Bulls

Draymond Green (thigh contusion) and Damion Lee (hip) are listed as questionable for the Warriors showdown on Friday with the Bulls.

Following a fiery start to the season, the Golden State Warriors have jumped out to a 10-1 record to open the 2021-22 campaign. However, the Warriors could be slowed down on Friday at Chase Center against the Chicago Bulls due to a pair of injuries.

During Wednesday’s contest against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Draymond Green was forced to leave the game with an apparent injury. Green’s injury was ruled a thigh contusion. He missed the remainder of the game against the Timberwolves after playing 21 minutes.

After the game, Steve Kerr called Green’s thigh bruise “nasty.” Two days later, the former Defensive Player of the Year is listed as questionable for Friday’s tilt against the Chicago Bulls.

Via @anthonyVslater on Twitter:

Joining Green on the injury report is Damion Lee. The reserve guard was absent against the Timberwolves on Wednesday due to a hip injury. Lee is also listed as questionable for Friday’s contest.

To start the season, Green is averaging 7.9 points on 52.1% shooting from the field with 8.3 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game. The three-time All-Star has been at the center of Golden State’s impressive defense to open the 2021-22 season.

If Green can’t suit up against Chicago on Friday, Otto Porter Jr. and Nemanja Bjelica could be in line for more minutes in Steve Kerr’s rotation. Andre Iguodala and Jonathan Kuminga could also play increased roles if Green is unavailable.

Warriors Report Card: Player grades for Warriors’ first loss of the season, to the Grizzlies

The Warriors took their first loss of the season to the Memphis Grizzlies Thursday. Here are the player grades from Thursday’s loss.

The Golden State Warriors came out firing on Thursday night, dropping 37 first-quarter points in what looked to be a burgeoning blowout.

That fire was extinguished quickly, however.

The Memphis Grizzlies reset and grinded out buckets, outscoring the Warriors in the last three quarters to earn a 104-101 win in overtime.

Warriors star Steph Curry let loose on some flamethrower 3-pointers, including one during the second quarter run, but he went ice-cold down the stretch. Guard Damion Lee had a gutsy shooting display in the final quarters, continuing his trend of late scoring.

The Warriors’ offense struggled to score once the Grizzlies started to lock up Curry, and the defense could not contain Ja Morant and his 18 third-quarter points. The team moved the ball well but was sloppy with its passing, turning the ball over 22 times. Overall, they shot 43.3% from the field and 35% from three on the night.

With the Grizzlies handing the Warriors their first loss, leaving the Utah Jazz as the only undefeated team left, here is a look at the player grades for Golden State.

Predicting every Warrior player’s rating in NBA 2K22

With “NBA 2K22” set to release in early September, Warriors Wire drops a rating prediction for every member of the Golden State Warriors.

The latest installment of the “NBA 2K” franchise is set to arrive Sept. 10, and Warriors fans can look forward to playing with a squad that looks remarkably similar to the glory years.

We already know that Stephen Curry, coming off a top-3 finish in MVP voting, is tied for the highest player rating in the game at 96. Draymond Green is still around, Klay Thompson will soon be back in action after two years of injury, and Andre Iguodala is a Warrior again.

But 2K’s all-important player ratings are bound to change for “NBA 2K22.” How will they judge Thompson after two years away? How can they quantify the value of a player like Green? Where do younger Dubs like James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody and Jordan Poole stand?

Here are rating predictions for every player on the roster (besides Curry) heading into the season.

Klay Thompson reacts to Damion Lee’s game-winning 3-pointer vs. Bulls

After Damion Lee drilled a heroic game-winning triple to give the Warriors their first win of the season, Klay Thompson chimed in on Twitter.

On Sunday, the Golden State Warriors recorded their first win of the 2020-21 season in dramatic fashion. After starting the season with back-to-back blowout losses, a last-second shot from Damion Lee against the Chicago Bulls etched Golden State’s first mark in the win column for the 2020-21 campaign.

After erasing a seven-point fourth-quarter Chicago lead, Kevon Looney followed an Andrew Wiggins miss for a tip in to notch the game at 121. Although Zach LaVine answered with a runner to give Chicago a two-point advantage with five seconds remaining, it wasn’t enough to closeout Lee and the Warriors.

Following a broken inbound play, Lee drilled a deep 3-pointer from the top of the key to give Golden State their first win on the season, 129-128.

As the Warriors swarmed Lee on the court, one of his teammates was watching from home. After Lee’s heroic jumper, Klay Thompson chimed in on social media. The five-time All-Star shooting guard called Lee a “beast” on Twitter:

Eric Paschall and Damion Lee react to San Francisco’s upset win over No. 4 Virginia

After the University of San Francisco knocked off Virginia, Damion Lee and Eric Paschall chimed in on Twitter with a reaction to the upset.

While they wait for NBA training camp practice to open next week, an upset in the college basketball slate caught the eyes of a few members of the Golden State Warriors.

On Friday, the University of San Francisco traveled to Connecticut to compete in The Mohegan Sun’s “Bubbleville.” For their third consecutive game in three days, the upset-minded Dons suited up against the No. 4 ranked team in the country — the Virginia Cavaliers.

Despite an early second-half lead from Virginia, San Francisco traded shots with the defending NCAA Tournament Champions. Scoring runs and steady long-distance shooting throughout the second half helped push San Francisco into the lead over Virginia.

Jamaree Bouyea notched a game-high 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field with six assists, three boards and two steals in 35 minutes. Bouyea’s backcourt mate Khalil Shabazz added 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field with five boards and an assist.

As a team, Todd Golden’s group nailed 13 jumpers from beyond the arc while Virginia registered only three 3-pointers, shooting a lowly 25% from long range.

A back and forth second half came down to a final heave from Virginia. With two seconds remaining, Sam Hauser clanked a last-chance 3-pointer off the rim, sealing San Francisco’s narrow upset, 61-60.

Following San Francisco’s first win over a top-five ranked team since 1981, Damion Lee and Eric Paschall chimed in on Twitter with praise for one of Golden State’s local college basketball programs.
