Trio of low-cost sharpshooting Boston Celtics free agency targets floated by Bleacher Report

After the style of play we saw them adopt under then-new head coach Joe Mazzulla, a case can certainly be made that it wouldn’t hurt.

Do the Boston Celtics need more shooting? After the style of play we saw them adopt under then-new head coach Joe Mazzulla, a case can certainly be made that it wouldn’t hurt the ball club in their quest for Banner 18. And such an argument was made by Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz, who sees a trio of prospective options for the Celtics in free agency via the taxpayer midlevel exception or veteran minimum.

Citing the fact that Boston lost only two games last season when they shot over 40% from beyond the arc, Swartz makes a compelling argument for focusing on sharpshooting free agents this offseason. Such players are always in demand, so there will be stiff competition for players who can knock down a trey — and other aspects of their game may have warts given the price point the Celtics have to work with.

Let’s see who Swartz has in mind for Boston.

Steph Curry screamed so loud after Damion Lee’s game-winner that he hilariously woke up his son

Curry was SO pumped.

Steph Curry spent four years playing with Damion Lee and winning a ring with him last season … but Lee is also married to Curry’s sister Sydel, so they’re ultra close.

Lee is now a member of the Phoenix Suns, and on Wednesday night, it was his shot that ultimately was the game-winner for the team in a tight 107-105 win over Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.

The fun thing is: Curry was watching … and he filmed himself reacting. Curry SCREAMED in excitement as he watched, but that actually woke up his son Canon, who was sleeping.

Here’s the shot and Curry’s reaction to it:

LOL!

Doncic couldn’t answer on the other side, sealing the Suns’ 22-point comeback on opening night.

After four seasons in Golden State, free agent guard Damion Lee is reportedly on his way to Phoenix.

Pieces from the Golden State Warriors 2022 championship run continue to move. After players like Gary Payton II, Otto Porter Jr. and Juan Toscano-Anderson landed with new teams at the start of free agency, Damion Lee was next.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the veteran free agent guard has agreed to a one-year contract with the Phoenix Suns.

Via @wojespn on Twitter:

During his four seasons with the Warriors, Lee played in 201 games, averaging 8.1 points on 43.7% shooting from the field and 36.6% shooting from beyond the arc. During the Warriors’ run to a title during the 2021-22 campaign, Lee played in 63 games, averaging 7.4 points on 44.1% shooting from the field with 3.2 rebounds and one assist in 19.9 minutes per game.

While players like Steph Curry and Klay Thompson missed time due to injury, Lee served as a reliable piece in Steve Kerr’s backcourt rotation. With both Splash Brothers out in 2020, Lee notched a career-high 26 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field with five made 3-pointers against the Miami Heat.

After spending four seasons playing alongside his brother-in-law, Lee will now suit up against Curry when the Suns meet the Warriors during the 2022-23 season.

Bengals vs. Chiefs: Warriors’ Damion Lee reacts to Joe Burrow’s performance in AFC Championship

After Joe Burrow helped lead the Bengals to a Super Bowl appearance with a win over the Chiefs in the AFC Championship, Warriors guard Damion Lee chimed in on Twitter.

On Sunday, all eyes were on the gridiron for championship Sunday in the NFL.

Before the Golden State Warriors’ neighbors, the San Francisco 49ers took the field against the Los Angeles Rams, the Cincinnatti Bengals’ battle against the Kansas City Chiefs took centerstage.

In a thriller, second-year quarterback Joe Burrow led an overtime comeback against Patrick Mahomes and the Cheifs to seal the Bengals’ spot in the Super Bowl for the first time since 1988.

In the Bengals’ 27-24 upset win on the road, Burrow threw for 250 yards and two touchdowns on 23-of-38 passing against the defending AFC Champions. After the Bengals’ defense intercepted Mahomes on the first possession of overtime, Burrow led the Bengals down the field to set up a game-winning field goal.

Following the Bengals punching a ticket to the Super Bowl, Burrow’s performance caught the eye of a member of the Warriors. Damion Lee chimed in on Twitter with praise for Burrow. Before the Super Bowl, Lee is looking to pick up a Burrow jersey.

Injury Report: Warriors’ Damion Lee (hip) set to return vs. Hornets on Sunday

On Sunday against the Charlotte Hornets, Warriors guard Damion Lee is set to return to the rotation after missing two games with a hip injury.

Riding an 11-1 start to the 2021-22 season, the Golden State Warriors will welcome the return of a key piece in their second unit before a matchup with the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday night.

After missing two games with a hip injury, Damion Lee is expected to return to Golden State’s lineup on Sunday in Charlotte, according to Steve Kerr.

Via @Rusty_SFChron on Twitter:

In nine games, Lee is averaging 11.9 points on 48.1% shooting off the bench with 2.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. The veteran reserve guard has been productive shooting from beyond the arc, hitting 43.6% on 4.3 jumpers from deep this season.

With Lee out, the Warriors opted to play rising guard Gary Payton II and veteran Andre Iguodala in the backcourt. In both games without Lee, Payton II recorded 15 or more minutes off the bench. Payton II has logged over double-figures in minutes in six straight contests.

While Lee’s return will help provide depth behind Steph Curry, Kerr will have a bevy of options to use on the wing off the bench. Kerr will be challenged to find minutes for Lee, Payton II and rookie Jonathan Kuminga off the bench.

The Warriors are set to meet the Hornets on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte.
