TRANSFER PORTAL TRACKER: Live updates of Alabama players in the portal

Tracking the former Alabama football players who are currently in the NCAA transfer portal.

From Monday, Dec. 5 through Jan. 18, the college football transfer portal madness will buzz uncontrollably as players from around the country hit the open market to find a new place to call home.

Even [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama Crimson Tide are not immune from the craziness that is the transfer portal. Currently, 13 members of the Alabama football team are in the portal: eight offensive players, three defensive players and one specialist.

Since there are certain to be more names added to the list, we will periodically update our list as news breaks of newer entries to the portal.

Alabama OT Damieon George to enter NCAA Transfer Portal

Alabama offensive tackle Dameion George played in 17 games for the Crimson Tide, he will now look to continue playing elsewhere.

Alabama offensive tackle Damieon George announced that he will be entering the transfer portal via Twitter. The Texas native spent three seasons with the Tide.

George was recruited by the Alabama coaching staff as a part of the 2020 recruiting class. He saw action in 17 games over the course of his three seasons in Tuscaloosa.

He is the third player to enter the transfer portal within the last week. Running back Trey Sanders and cornerback Khyree Jackson announced their intentions to enter the transfer portal before the Iron Bowl.

Alabama Football: 5 position groups to watch this spring

Alabama Football: 5 position groups to watch this spring

Although Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide were not able to claim a national championship this past season, the 2021 team still accomplished quite a bit.

The Tide won the SEC Championship and finished with an impressive 13-2 record and Bryce Young became the first Alabama quarterback to win the Heisman Trophy.

Now that the season has come to an end, let’s shift our focus to spring practice and which position groups Alabama fans should be watching when the Tide returns to practice in a couple of months.

5 players to watch during Alabama vs. New Mexico State

5 players to watch as Alabama takes on the New Mexico State Aggies

Alabama’s final non-conference matchup against New Mexico State doesn’t exactly get the blood boiling with excitement. But it is the next opportunity for the Tide to take the field and show signs of improvement.

Last week’s ugly win over LSU has many Tide fans a little skeptical about just how much the 2021 version of the Crimson Tide can accomplish. I’ll admit, I also have my own reservations about this team, but if we look at this through the lens of common sense we will come to the conclusion that Nick Saban is still the head man, and the roster is still loaded with talent. That alone should restore some hope among the Tide faithful.

Speaking of the roster, I thought we could take a look at a few players that I believe we should keep our eye on as the boys from Bama take on the Aggies of New Mexico State.

5 improvements Alabama must make to contend for a championship

The Crimson Tide have a few things to work on if they want No. 19!

Despite what you may have heard from all the talking heads, Alabama still has all the opportunity in the world to win a championship this season. Win out and you are in.

Of course, that does mean beating top-ranked Georgia in the SEC Championship, but who said it was going to be easy?

Even with the opportunity still in sight, there are several areas that the Crimson Tide must clean up before competing with the best of the best in college football.

Let’s take a look at a few!

Getting to know Alabama’s signees: OT Damieon George

National Signing Day has come and gone, and Alabama’s 2020 recruiting class is officially set. There were 25 total members (26, if you count North Carolina grad transfer tight end Carl Tucker) with talent across the board.

In order for fans to get to know the Crimson Tide’s newest players, we have laid out a “get to know them” article for each member.

Next up is three-star offensive tackle Damieon George out of Northshore High School in Houston (Tex.).

Damieon George, Offensive Tackle

Hometown: Houston (Tex.)

High school: Northshore

Size: 6-6.5, 348

Early enrollee: No

247Sports composite ranking: 3-star / No. 386 / No. 4 31 OT

247Sports ranking: 3-star / No. 304 / No. 29 OT

Rivals ranking: 3-star / N/A / No. 41 OT

ESPN ranking: 4-star / 80 overall grade / No. 30 OT

Commitment date: June 5, 2019

Signing date: Dec. 18, 2019

Where does he fit in? Damieon George was far and away Alabama’s biggest addition (literally) in the 2020 recruiting class. At close to 6-7 and weighing 348 pounds, the Houston product has the physical makeup to be a starting offensive tackle.

More impressively, George moves well for a man his size, which is one of the reasons why the Alabama coaching staff felt he was worthy of a scholarship offer.

With Jedrick Wills Jr. already gone and Alex Leatherwood heading into his senior season, the depth at tackle needed to be replenished for 2021 and beyond. And George, while still needing some development with his technique and overall body physique, is capable of working “The Process” before ultimately contributing down the line.

Alabama locked in another important addition for its offensive line on Wednesday, as three-star offensive tackle Damieon George made things official with his signature.

While George isn’t as well-known as others in the 2020 class, he’s a massive presence (6-foot-7, 348 pounds) while the potential to become an effective right tackle in the future.

Alabama landed two offensive linemen during the early signing period with four-star offensive tackle Javion Cohen and three-star center/guard Seth McLaughlin.

George is the third — and potentially final — member of the unit, which depends on where Alabama sees Jayson Jones’ long-term fit with the team.

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, George is rated as the No. 385 overall player, No. 31 offensive tackle and No. 56 player from the state of Texas.

It should be noted that ESPN’s recruiting rankings had him listed as a four-star prospect, however.

George held offers from other premier programs such as Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Auburn and Florida, which only goes to show how highly thought of he was despite his low ranking.
