Former Alabama WR Christian Leary flips transfer commitment to ACC program

Former Alabama wide receiver and transfer Christian Leary originally committed to Central Florida. However, he flipped his commitment to Georgia Tech on Sunday afternoon.

In a surprise move, former Alabama wide receiver Christian Leary flipped his transfer commitment from Central Florida to Georgia Tech. Leary posted the news to his Instagram account.

The Florida native played sparingly in the two seasons that he spent in Tuscaloosa. He had three receptions for 10 yards, three carries for 22 yards, and a touchdown. Leary was not seen as a top option at wide receiver and transferred as a result.

He will head to Atlanta to play for former Alabama offensive line coach Brent Key. Last season, the Yellow Jackets finished with a 5-7 record. After hiring Key as the permanent head coach and making some moves through the transfer portal, the program could be trending in the right direction. Leary could be a key piece to the puzzle for years to come.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Leary’s college career as well as other former Alabama players that have transferred elsewhere.

Former Alabama WR Christian Leary predicted to transfer to UCF

Christian Leary received a crystal ball prediction to land at UCF on Monday. He is a Florida native and spent two seasons at Alabama.

As of Monday, 13 of Alabama’s scholarship players had entered the transfer portal. One of them was sophomore wide receiver, Christian Leary. UCF Insider Stephen Knight put in a crystal ball prediction for Leary to land at UCF.

Leary is a native of Orlando, Florida which is where the Knights’ campus is located. He was recruited by the Knights coming out of high school but ultimately chose to attend Alabama. In two seasons, he hauled in three receptions for 10 receiving yards and one touchdown. His role this season lessened with all of the true freshmen that got playing time.

If he chooses to transfer to Central Florida, he will reunite with former Alabama wide receiver Javon Baker. It will be interesting to see if Leary actually lands there or elsewhere.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama football and the transfer portal.

TRANSFER PORTAL TRACKER: Live updates of Alabama players in the portal

Tracking the former Alabama football players who are currently in the NCAA transfer portal.

From Monday, Dec. 5 through Jan. 18, the college football transfer portal madness will buzz uncontrollably as players from around the country hit the open market to find a new place to call home.

Even [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama Crimson Tide are not immune from the craziness that is the transfer portal. Currently, 13 members of the Alabama football team are in the portal: eight offensive players, three defensive players and one specialist.

Since there are certain to be more names added to the list, we will periodically update our list as news breaks of newer entries to the portal.

Alabama WR Christian Leary to enter NCAA Transfer Portal

Alabama wide receiver Christian Leary has entered the transfer portal. He played sparingly this season for the Tide.

Alabama wide receiver Christian Leary announced that he was entering the NCAA Transfer Portal on Wednesday. He posted the news to his Twitter.

Leary has spent two seasons with the Tide. The native of Edgewater, Florida shined in both A-Day games. However, he never got an opportunity to truly showcase his potential on the field. During his two-year career at Alabama, he hauled in 3 receptions for 10 yards and one touchdown.

The news of Leary transferring doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering he can transfer once without having to sit out. Several other players have done the same recently with Damieon George, Khyree Jackson, and Trey Sanders announcing their intent to transfer from the program as well.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Leary’s college career as well as other Alabama football players in the NCAA Transfer Portal.

10 Alabama football players that should see more playing time in the weeks to come

Here are several of Alabama’s current players who should be seeing more playing time in the future.

Alabama has looked inconsistent at times this season. That goes for both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Certain position groups have shown strides of improvement while other spots have struggled down the stretch.

Everybody knows that talent isn’t a question. There has been an abundance of talent that has been recruited at each of the different position groups. That goes for both the offense and defense. As the season progresses, Alabama’s coaching staff will work to put players in the best position to be successful.

Through the first seven weeks, the team has had its share of highs and lows. Whatever the case may be, there is still plenty of time to fix the areas of concern and prevent these issues from re-occurring in the future.

There is always room for more playmakers and leaders. That is why Alabama’s depth could come into play throughout the course of the season. Today, Roll Tide Wire looks at 10 Crimson Tide players who should see more playing time in the near future.

Report Card: Grading Alabama’s dominating Week 1 win over Utah State

Alabama handled Utah State with ease on Saturday night. Let’s take a look at how the Crimson Tide graded out in Week 1.

In a completely one-sided contest, [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and Alabama dominated Utah State on Saturday night to the tune of 55-0.

[autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag] led things offensively for Alabama which didn’t seem to miss a beat despite losing its leading rushing and top two receivers from 2021.

Defensively the competition level may have not been what the Tide will see in the coming weeks, but anytime you can shut out an opponent you have to feel good about your defense.

Utah State head coach Blake Anderson had nothing but positive things to say about the 2022 version of the Crimson Tide. In his postgame press conference, Anderson had this to say about Alabama:

“So, I don’t want to point fingers anywhere. We physically got out-matched most of the night. I’m sure we made some mistakes, but they weren’t glaring. … We got beat by a better football with a lot of great athletes.”

Anderson’s compliments are not that surprising considering how well Alabama played right out of the gate. So, without further ado let’s get to the Week 1 report card for the Crimson Tide.

5 questions ahead of Alabama’s first scrimmage of fall camp

Despite being the overwhelming favorite heading into the season, Alabama still has some questions that need to be answered.

[autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama football team will head over to Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday to partake in the first scrimmage of the 2022 fall camp. With just a handful of practices under their belt and a couple of unfortunate injuries, there are several questions that linger over the team in the early part of camp.

Since media access is very limited to practice and especially scrimmages, it is hard to say if we will receive any information of value following Saturday’s event unless coach Saban just simply offers it up, but it’s unlikely.

One thing is for certain, despite being the overwhelming favorite to win the national championship heading into the season, the Crimson Tide still has some questions that are lingering.

Let’s take a look at a few of the questions I would like to have a little more clarity on.

Depth Chart Overview

Leary will enter the 2022 season as a WR2 on the depth chart. As a sophomore, this means Leary won’t see starting reps, nor will he be on the field for a majority of in-game snaps. However, he will certainly be a part of the regular rotation. Expect to see a lot more of Leary in the 2022 season.
