Ohio State misses out on 2024 California cornerback, commits to SEC power

The Buckeyes miss on one of their DB targets #GoBucks

[autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] was in 2024 California cornerback[autotag]Zabien Brown[/autotag] ’s final three, along with USC and Alabama.

On Sunday afternoon, Brown made his choice, selecting the Crimson Tide over the two Big Ten programs. The 6-foot, 180-pound corner took official visits to his final three programs, but in the end, his last visit to Tuscaloosa sealed the deal.

It would have been nice to add Brown to the 2024 Ohio State recruiting class, but they have done a great job recruiting multiple secondary prospects. Currently, the Buckeyes have commitments from Bryce West and Miles Lockhart for the position. They are still actively recruiting Aaron Scott, Kobe Black, and [autotag]Corian Gipson[/autotag].

The targets are all high-level prospects but the staff would have taken a commitment from Brown had he chosen the Buckeyes.

Texas emerges as favorite over Clemson for four-star Corian Gipson

The Tigers and the Longhorns are going head to head for the Texas corner.

The recruitment for four-star defensive back Dorian Gipson just got that much more interesting.

Despite holding three crystal ball predictions in favor of Clemson over on 247Sports, On3‘s national recruiting analyst Jeremy Johnson entered a prediction that favors Texas. Depending on what site you use, that brings the total tally to three Clemson votes and four Texas votes.

Gipson ranks as a top-70 recruit in the country, holding 40 offers from programs such as Texas, Clemson, Alabama, and TCU among others. The Lancaster, Texas native took an official visit to Texas in the past couple weeks, and was also spotted on Twitter reposting commitments that the Longhorns landed on Saturday.

His recruitment appears to be a tight race between the two football powers.

Four-star DB Corian Gipson celebrates birthday on Texas official visit

Corian Gipson will enjoy his birthday weekend in Austin during his Texas visit.

Texas has a huge weekend planned for several recruiting targets this weekend. The team has a significant opportunity to make a memorable impression on one of its most important prospects in defensive back Corian Gipson.

In one of the latest recruiting humidor posts by Inside Texas, the site noted that Gipson is set to turn 18 in the coming days. We can take a couple things away from that discovery. The low-hanging fruit is that at the very least Gipson enjoys Austin if that’s where he’s choosing to spend his birthday. It might further validate the Longhorns’ chances of winning his recruitment.

Texas has made a strong push to put together one of the top defensive back classes in the country. The team is well on its way to making that a reality after bringing in four-star defensive back Santana Wilson. The Longhorns appear to be on positive footing with elite defensive backs like Gipson, Kobe Black, Jordon Johnson-Rubell and Selmon Bridges.

The Texas defensive staff will have the opportunity to close on a couple of their top defensive back targets this weekend.

Clemson Crystal Ball tracker: Every 2024 recruit predicted to sign with Clemson

Things are heating up for the Tigers in the 2024 class. Here is a crystal ball tracker to keep you up to date.

Dabo Swinney and the Tigers reportedly had a superb recruiting weekend in Clemson, with a long list of top recruits attending and enjoying everything Clemson has to offer.

The Tigers’ strong showing this past weekend was massive for the program as a team that lives and dies with recruiting as others take advantage of the transfer portal, which has become a significant part of some programs’ roster development. Different strokes for different folks, Swinney and Clemson are good at what they do and stick to it.

We’ve seen recruiting success before, and after the weekend, it seems more to come as multiple top recruits have received crystal ball predictions over the past few days. With the activity, we decided to put together a tracker for these predictions.

Here is Clemson Wire’s crystal ball tracker, with 247Sports composite rankings and site rankings for each recruit.

Texas is trending for 2024 Lancaster CB Corian Gipson over the weekend

Texas, not Clemson, might now be in the driver’s seat for Corian Gipson.

Four-star cornerback Corian Gipson is trending to the Longhorns as of Saturday. Inside Texas’ Gerry Hamilton and Eric Nahlin addressed the specifics in their recruiting update.

There’s been plenty of noise about Gipson and Clemson in recent days after visiting the team’s campus June 2. Many were under the impression Gipson was leaning toward the Tigers because of recent developments in his recruitment. Perhaps that isn’t the case.

Inside Texas’ Eric Nahlin appears to be confident in the Longhorns’ chances after predicting a high confidence RPM pick for Texas and the Lancaster defensive back. Nahlin was confident in Arch Manning choosing the Longhorns early when many thought Manning would go elsewhere. His prediction should carry a little more weight with Texas faithful.

The On3 recruiting prediction machine gives Texas a 78% chance to win out with Clemson sitting at 18.9%. The Longhorns will look to close on the elite Dallas-Fort Worth area cornerback in the upcoming months.
