Where LSU’s 2024 class stands in final 247Sports composite recruiting rankings

After an uneventful signing day, here’s how things stand for the Tigers in the final recruiting rankings.

National Signing Day is in the books, and it was fairly uneventful for the Tigers.

The one player they were looking to add, five-star athlete [autotag]Terry Bussey[/autotag], held firm to his commitment to Texas A&M. After [autotag]Dominick McKinley[/autotag] — LSU’s only commit who didn’t sign during the early signing period — made things official, that was officially a wrap on the Tigers’ 2024 class.

Though it had the chance to move up into the top five with a flip of Bussey, LSU still finishes with one of the nation’s stronger classes. Here’s how it all shakes out in the final 247Sports composite rankings.

Final class of 2024 SEC football recruiting rankings

Final SEC class of 2024 recruiting rankings after a quiet national signing day. Georgia signed another elite class

The Georgia Bulldogs have signed the best recruiting class in the country in the class of 2024 after a quiet national signing day. The SEC has six programs in the top 10 of the national recruiting rankings and 11 programs in the top 25.

Georgia won the SEC’s recruiting crown in the 2024 recruiting cycle, but it stands out how much depth their is across the conference. SEC signees in the class of 2024 will be the first ones to exclusively play in the expanded conference that will feature Oklahoma and Texas.

Kirby Smart and Georgia has the SEC’s highest-ranked recruit in five-star cornerback Ellis Robinson IV. The Bulldogs return a loaded roster for 2024 and are way-too-early national championship favorites.

Where LSU stands in On3’s 2024 recruiting rankings after release of final Rivals250

With an adjustment to On3’s Industry Rankings, here’s where the Tigers stand.

Though the focus has now largely turned to the 2025 class with early signing day in the rearview, we haven’t entirely closed the book on recruiting in 2024.

LSU is still in pursuit of a five-star athlete in [autotag]Terry Bussey[/autotag], who is currently committed to Texas A&M. It also has an unsigned five-star recruit who it will need to get to the finish line [autotag]Dominick McKinley[/autotag].

On Tuesday, the final Rivals250 rankings were released, and that resulted in some adjustments to the On3 Industry Rankings, both in terms of player and team rankings. As we’re now just two weeks out from national signing day, here’s how things stack up in On3’s rankings.

David Stone ascends to No. 1 Defensive Lineman in the nation for 2024

David Stone finishes out the 2024 cycle rising into the top 5 of Rivals player rankings as the No. 1 defensive lineman.

The most important recruitment of the 2024 recruiting cycle came on the defensive side of the football. That was the pursuit of five-star defensive tackle David Stone.

Though there were others in pursuit of the Oklahoma native, it was the Sooners that landed one of the best prospects regardless of position in the cycle.

Now, as recruiting services finalize their ranking for the 2024 class, Oklahoma’s five-star defensive tackle signee has another accolade to add to his ledger. Stone ascended to earn the top spot among defensive linemen, according to Rivals. In the process, he rose to be the No. 5 overall player in the class.

Stone overtook former Sooners target and Missouri signees Williams Nwaneri in Rivals’ rankings.

The tools are there for Stone to be an elite player at the collegiate level. But in addition to what he can do physically, he sounds like a player who is going to put the work in to make sure he does meet and exceed expectations.

With Stone’s arrival in the midyear, he’ll have a chance to be an impact player as a true freshman for the Oklahoma Sooners. OU needs interior pass rush help, and Stone’s ability to play with power and speed will create havoc on the inside.

His ascension into Rivals top five is just the latest sign in the tireless work ethic David Stone is bringing to Norman. If he isn’t already a fan favorite, it won’t be long before he is.

Where LSU’s 2024 recruiting class ranks as the early signing day dust settles

The Tigers currently sit just outside the top 10, but that could still change in the coming days and weeks.

Early signing day has surpassed the regular date in February in prominence over the last few years.

The vast majority of players sign early — as was the case for LSU this season — and the 2024 iteration was filled with quite a bit of drama around the country.

Luckily for the Tigers, not much of that pertained to them. They ultimately signed all 27 players who entered the day committed to them as coach [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] has mostly put a bow on this cycle.

The class currently ranks just outside the top 10, though the situation is still fluid. A few targets remain unsigned including four-star offensive lineman [autotag]Coen Echols[/autotag], who commits Friday, and five-star defensive lineman [autotag]Dominick McKinley[/autotag], who is currently committed to Texas A&M but will sign in February.

Still, the Tigers inked a solid class headlined by top-100 prospects in tight end [autotag]Tre’Dez Green[/autotag] and safety [autotag]Dashawn McBryde[/autotag], as well as blue-chip quarterback [autotag]Colin Hurley[/autotag]. Here’s where it stands in the national rankings after early signing day, per the 247Sports Composite.

Where does LSU’s 2024 recruiting class rank on the eve of early signing period?

There is just one more day until early signing day is here, and dominoes are falling all across college football.

There is just one more day until early signing period is here, and dominoes are falling all across college football.

Usually, this time of year would be reserved for the hype centered around high school recruits, but the transfer portal has taken the place of that hype. Where some of the players in the portal decide to go may dictate where some of the top class of 2024 players decide to go.

With that being said, where does the LSU 2024 recruiting class rank before early signing period? According to 247Sports, LSU’s 2024 class is ranked as the No. 12 class in the country. The class does not have any five stars and it is headlined by four-star tight end [autotag]Trey’Dez Green[/autotag] from Zachary, Louisiana.

That No. 12 overall ranking ranks as the sixth-best class in the SEC. Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Florida and Auburn are all ahead of the Tigers class and the Tennessee Volunteers are right behind LSU at 13th.

Where LSU’s 2024 class ranks after latest commitment

Here’s where LSU’s class ranks after its latest commitment.

LSU added a blue-chip recruit to its 2024 class last week, picking up a commitment from Louisiana defensive tackle [autotag]Gabriel Reliford[/autotag].

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Reliford is the 23rd-best defensive lineman in the class and the 220th overall recruit.

On3’s own rankings are even higher on Reliford, putting him in the top 100.

So where do recruiting services rank LSU’s class after its latest commitment?

On3: 12th

247Sports: 12th

ESPN: 14th

Rivals: 8th

The Reliford commitment didn’t move the needle rankings-wise, but it filled a major need for LSU. After missing out on defensive tackle [autotag]Dominick McKinley[/autotag], LSU needed more depth on the interior line. With [autotag]Mekhi Wingo[/autotag] and [autotag]Maason Smith[/autotag] potentially off to the league, the Tigers need to reload at that spot.

LSU sits outside the top 10 on most sites, which isn’t up to the standard set in years past, but this class is deep and has depth.

Rivals is the highest on Brian Kelly’s class right now, slotting the Tigers at eighth.

Four-star DB Wardell Mack commits to Texas

Wardell Mack wants to be a Texas Longhorn.

Texas got big news in regard to its future secondary on Saturday. Four-star defensive back Wardell Mack de-committed from the Florida Gators in favor of the Longhorns.

Mack continues a trend of high profile recruits joining defensive backs coaches Terry Joseph and Blake Gideon to play in the Texas defensive backfield.

The Marrero (LA) native isn’t the first big name Louisiana player to choose the Texas Longhorns. He joins Texas backup quarterback Arch Manning and defensive back Derek Williams Jr. among players from the Pelican State to commit to the team.

From the coaching staff’s perspective, Mack stands as one of the program’s top targets in the 2024 recruiting class. He stands as one of the biggest wins of the cycle for the upward trending program. The team’s 9-1 season might have played a role in swaying Mack from Florida.

The four-star defensive back is the No. 13 cornerback and No. 105 ranked player in the 2024 On3 industry rankings.

LSU climbs into top 10 in 2024 recruiting rankings after flipping five-star offensive tackle Weston Davis

LSU has suffered some recent losses on the trail, but the Tigers got a major win on Thursday night.

LSU has spent much of the 2024 cycle in the top 10 in recruiting rankings, but after a recent spate of decommitments — headlined by the loss of four-star cornerback Ondre Evans to Georgia — the team had fallen out of the top 10.

The Tigers are surging back up now, though. On Thursday night, the team flipped five-star Texas offensive tackle [autotag]Weston Davis[/autotag] from division rival Texas A&M as coach [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] and this staff landed another big-time prospect along the offensive line.

Davis is a composite four-star as On3 is the only site that ranks him as a five-star.

LSU now has a top-10 class according to both 247Sports and On3, but the latter is higher on the Tigers’ 2024 class. Here’s where it stands in On3’s latest rankings.

Where does LSU’s 2024 recruiting class rank after recent shakeups?

Here’s where LSU’s class ranks after some recent shakeups.

LSU’s 2024 class looks different than it did last week.

It took a hit when cornerback [autotag]Ondre Evans[/autotag] flipped to Georgia. It’s a big loss considering Evans was just one of eight top 200 commits in the class and plays a position of need.

The staff did its best to recoup the loss, though. In recent days, the Tigers got commitments from corners [autotag]PJ Woodland[/autotag] and [autotag]Bernard Causey[/autotag]. Both are three stars, but there’s optimism about what they can bring to the class.

The Tigers now sit with five corners in the 2024 class. Causey and Woodland are joined by [autotag]Ju’Juan Johnson[/autotag], [autotag]Cai Bates[/autotag] and [autotag]Wallace Foster[/autotag].

Even with the new additions and the young talent already on the roster, expect LSU to be active recruiting defensive backs in the portal.

But after the recent shakeups, let’s take a look at where LSU’s class stands now.

On3: 11th

247Sports: 12th

The loss of Evans knocked LSU’s class out of the top 10, but the Tigers are in pursuit of top 100 wide receiver [autotag]Dre’lon Miller[/autotag], who decommitted from Texas A&M after a visit to Baton Rouge.

A commitment from Miller would put LSU back in the top 10.
