Saquon Barkley runs the Rams out of SoFi Stadium, carrying the Eagles to their 7th straight win

A sea of Eagles fans took over SoFi Stadium, carrying Philadelphia to its 7th straight win on Sunday night as Saquon Barkley rushed for 255 yards on the night

The Eagles are 9-2 and have won seven straight games after Saquon Barkley exploded in the running game, and A.J. Brown was dominant in the passing game. Philadelphia put the league on notice with a 37-20 win at SoFi Stadium on Sunday.

If not for a late Matthew Stafford touchdown pass to Cooper Kupp, Philadelphia would have exited Los Angeles with a 37-14 road win just seven days before a monster matchup with the Baltimore Ravens in Week 13.

Barkley rushed for 255 yards on the night and had 302 total yards of offense in a game that saw A.J. Brown log 109 yards receiving and a touchdown on seven targets.

It doesn’t sound like the Rams plan to make a change at LB anytime soon

Omar Speights and Jacob Hummel shined in the preseason but it doesn’t sound like the Rams are looking to make a change at LB right now

There was a lot of excitement about undrafted rookie linebacker Omar Speights in the preseason after he shined in the first two exhibition games for the Los Angeles Rams. Even before the third preseason game, Speights had earned a spot on the 53-man roster, with Les Snead calling him someone who would be active on game days.

Snead was accurate in saying that because Speights has been up all four weeks, but he hasn’t played a single defensive snap yet. The same goes for Jacob Hummel, who also stood out in a positive way during the preseason.

Meanwhile, Troy Reeder and Christian Rozeboom, have struggled badly in the middle of the Rams’ defense. Of the 55 linebackers in the NFL who have played at least 159 snaps this season, Reeder ranks 38th and Rozeboom is 47th in total defensive grade, per Pro Football Focus.

They’ve taken poor angles to ball carriers, have a hard time getting off blocks and Rozeboom has allowed 17 catches for 159 yards and a touchdown on only 18 targets. It doesn’t sound like the Rams are planning to make a change at linebacker anytime soon, though.

Sean McVay was asked Wednesday how the team develops young players like them and what it’ll take for them to get an opportunity on game days, responding by saying they do get reps in practice but it hasn’t gotten to the point where they’ve earned snaps on Sundays.

“Those guys do get reps in these settings,” he said. “The preseason is somewhat similar, but very different than the regular season in terms of the things that we’re asking, the types of schemes that are being seen by the opposing offenses. You continue to give those guys opportunities throughout the course of these practices. If it got to a point where we felt like that was the best option for us, then those guys would be out there.”

The Rams have one more game before their Week 6 bye, a matchup with the Packers this Sunday. Green Bay ranks second in the NFL in rushing, so this will be yet another test for the Rams’ linebackers.

Perhaps if Reeder and Rozeboom struggle again, McVay and Chris Shula might consider making a change during the bye. But based on the coach’s comments, it doesn’t sound like that’s in the cards right now.

Rams injury report: Cobie Durant held out, Rob Havenstein limited Wednesday

The Rams are dealing with several injuries to starters at the moment, including Cobie Durant and Rob Havenstein

It’s been a busy week for the Los Angeles Rams and it’s only Wednesday. With Puka Nacua, Steve Avila and Joe Noteboom all on injured reserve, the Rams have gotten thin at certain spots on the depth chart.

They began their prep for the Cardinals with their first practice on Wednesday and Sean McVay shared an update on the team’s injuries after their walkthrough. Cobie Durant (toe), Rob Havenstein (ankle) and Kevin Dotson (ankle) are all among those who are on the injury report, as expected.

Durant is not practicing, nor is Dotson. Havenstein and Christian Rozeboom are both going to be limited, which means Jonah Jackson is the only starting lineman who’s practicing in full.

It’s only Week 2 but the Rams are already as banged up as some teams are in Week 12. The good news is that Dotson is expected to play against the Cardinals and there’s still some hope that Havenstein can suit up, too.

Update (5:45 p.m. PT): The Rams released the full injury report, which also lists Davis Allen as a non-participant due to a back injury.

For the Cardinals, Kyler Murray was a full participant, Xavier Weaver was limited and Max Melton was out with a concussion.

Rams bring back LB Christian Rozeboom on fully guaranteed contract

The Rams are bringing back Christian Rozeboom on a fully guaranteed contract

The Los Angeles Rams chose not to tender Christian Rozeboom, who was a restricted free agent to start the offseason. That would have cost them around $3 million to do, but they’re not letting him leave for another team.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Rams are bringing back Christian Rozeboom on a fully guaranteed contract. The terms of the deal were not released, but he’ll be back with Los Angeles for the 2024 season. Rozeboom was the No. 2 inside linebacker with the Rams last season, playing meaningful snaps alongside Ernest Jones in the middle of the defense.

He also plays on special teams, which is an area the Rams must improve next season.

4 soon-to-be free agents Saints should scout in Lions vs. Rams

Here are four soon-to-be free agents the Saints should be scouting in Lions vs. Rams, including a couple of experienced receivers:

It’s always tough to watch other teams compete in the playoffs while the New Orleans Saints are stuck watching from the couch, but these postseason games are a great opportunity to get a preview on the upcoming class of free agents. And the Saints are always creative in working around the salary cap to ensure they’ll sign some players in the spring.

With that in mind, here are some pending free agents we’d like to see in New Orleans, who are hitting the field in Sunday night’s game between the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams:

Rams tender CB Shaun Jolly, LB Christian Rozeboom as ERFAs

The Rams have tendered Shaun Jolly and Christian Rozeboom, which keeps them in the mix for 2023

The only moves made by the Los Angeles Rams thus far have been with their exclusive rights free agents. The team announced on Wednesday that Christian Rozeboom and Shaun Jolly have been tendered as ERFAs, which means they will have one-year contracts worth the league minimum in 2023.

It was previously reported that Michael Hoecht has been tendered, as well, which the Rams confirmed Wednesday.

An exclusive rights free agent is a player who has less than three accrued seasons and an expiring contract. By tendering these three players, they cannot negotiate with other teams.

Hoecht transitioned from defensive end to outside linebacker toward the end of last season and provided a spark as a pass rusher following the releases of Terrell Lewis and Justin Hollins. As of now, he’s penciled in as one of the starting outside linebackers.

Rozeboom played seven defensive snaps last season and joined the Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2021. Jolly was signed off the Browns’ practice squad last year but did not play any defensive snaps.

10 players on the Rams’ roster bubble entering training camp

The Rams will need to trim their roster down to 53 players before Week 1 of the 2022 season, putting these 10 players on the roster bubble.

It’s almost the time of the year when training camps commence around the NFL, with plenty of players trying to compete for roster spots on their respective teams. Players will be arriving at training camp for the Los Angeles Rams on July 23 as all eyes will be on certain position battles ahead of the upcoming season.

Unfortunately, not every player on the current roster is going to make the active roster for the Rams this year. Before the 2022 season kicks off, Los Angeles will have to trim their roster to 53 players, meaning that there will be quite a few difficult decisions to make.

Some players are going to have a tougher time than others to earn a roster spot and they’ll need strong showings during training camp to prove their worth. With playing in the NFL being a brutal line of work, here are 10 players that are on the roster bubble for the Rams entering training camp.

Rams LB Christian Rozeboom is only former Chiefs player expected to play in Super Bowl LVI

The #Rams signed Rozeboom off the #Chiefs’ practice squad in November and now he’ll play in Super Bowl LVI.

In all likelihood, only a single former Kansas City Chiefs player will play in Super Bowl LVI.

Back in November, the Los Angeles Rams poached LB Christian Rozeboom from the Chiefs’ practice squad after an injury to LB Travin Howard. Rozeboom was signed to the practice squad in Kansas City following his release from Los Angeles during 53-man roster cuts ahead of the 2021 NFL season. He got his start with the Rams after signing as an undrafted free agent out of South Dakota State University in 2020.

Rozeboom did appear in just one game during his time in Kansas City. He was elevated from the practice squad once for the Chiefs this season, appearing in 10 snaps on special teams in the Week 7 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

Rozeboom has appeared in 10 consecutive games for Los Angeles dating back to Week 12 of the regular season. He’s played over 50% of the team’s special teams snaps in each of those 10 games. He’s become a key depth piece for them on defense in addition to his contributions on special teams.

It’s possible that another former Chiefs player will play for the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI. Defensive lineman Damion Square was claimed off waiver by Kansas City in 2014 and spent nearly two months with the team before he was released. He could be elevated from the Bengals practice squad for Super Bowl LVI as he was against the Chiefs in the divisional round.

Rams sign LB Christian Rozeboom from Chiefs’ practice squad

The #Rams have poached a player from the #Chiefs’ practice squad, signing LB Christian Rozeboom to their 53-man roster.

The Kansas City Chiefs have seen their first practice squad player poached this season.

The Los Angeles Rams announced on Wednesday that they had signed LB Christian Rozeboom to the 53-man roster from the Chiefs’ practice squad. Rozeboom got his NFL career started with the Rams back in 2020, landing there as an undrafted free agent out of South Dakota State. He spent the entire 2020 NFL season on the practice squad in Los Angeles, rejoining the team for the 2021 NFL offseason.

When Roseboom was released by the Rams during 53-man roster cuts, the Chiefs promptly coaxed him from Los Angeles to join their practice squad.

The move to sign Rozeboom was necessitated by the injury to LB Travin Howard for the Rams. They had recently traded Kenny Young to the Broncos and suddenly Los Angeles found themselves short-handed at the position.

Rozeboom was a practice squad elevation for the Chiefs once this season, for the Week 7 against the Tennessee Titans. He played 10 snaps on special teams recording a single tackle for Kansas City.

In a corresponding move, the Chiefs signed TE Nakia Griffin-Stewart to the practice squad according to the NFL’s official transaction report.

Rams sign Christian Rozeboom off Chiefs’ practice squad

The Rams have brought back Christian Rozeboom, signing him off the Chiefs’ practice squad.

After trading away Kenny Young and losing Travin Howard to short-term injured reserve, the Los Angeles Rams had to look outside their building for some linebacker depth. They landed on a familiar face, though, and are bringing back Christian Rozeboom.

They’ve signed him off the Chiefs’ practice squad, which means he’ll revert to the Rams’ 53-man roster and earn at least three game checks.

Rozeboom landed with the Rams after the 2020 draft, signing as a free agent out of South Dakota State. He spent all of last season on the practice squad and was waived by the Rams again this offseason, opening the door for him to land on the Chiefs’ practice squad.

He played one game for the Chiefs this season, getting on the field for 10 special teams snaps in Week 7 against the Titans.
